MLTR - WAS MY FAVOURITE ROCK/POP BAND & IT WAS THE ONLY REASON I USED TO VISIT NAMMA MLTR BACK IN THE 2000’s ... As i used to stay few 100 mtr from this place in the 90’s, it was always one of the goto place fo South Indian breakfast... This place is again one of the rare well maintained legendary places which makes you walk into a time capsule, the history, the air, the aroma, the vibes are totally awesome!! ... Hats off to the management for maintaining such level standards!! The kitchen was spanking new clean... imagine this place is almost 100 yrs old ...!!

I absolutely love it !! ... it was total houseful with the regulars enjoying their favv dosae... i was visiting after 3/4 yrs... so wanted to check after a long time... the Sagu Masale was a clear winner... brilliant & mind blowing sagu... veggies are cooked to perfection, good veggies are used, chopped in a professional manner... the benne masale on the other hand had perfect triangle dosae, with alugadde palya stuffed inside... the palya had simple temperings, with the potatoes not too starchy, but more delicate & luscious with some hard bits here and there for texture... ,the idli vadae sambhar was alright... the carrot halwa was a surprise... seems to be very popular!! ... but i am clearly going for the...
Read moreVisited this restaurant recently , the restaurant is located in Gandhi bazar next to mahila bangle stores. The restaurant can be accessed via NR colony through Gandhi bazar or through Basavanagudi by taking the left after the flyover when moving from Lalbagh towards ram Krishna ashrama.
Coming to the food - 1.bonda soup - the samber is not your yellow samber that most restaurants provide , it was the authentic idly vada samber and it tasted really really good . The depth of flavour in the samber took me back to all the legendary restaurants like CTR, SLV, Vidyarthi bhavan etc. The bonda was good , it wasn't oily or overflavoured with pepper . The size of the bonda was adequate . 2 masala dosa - the aroma of the dosa was just mouth watering .visually it was very appealing , the neat roast of the dosa was clearly visible . The dosa tasted amazing , it was definitely one of the best dosa I have had . The main thing I wanna note is the chutney used inside the dosa is very different from what I have had before , it was spicy and really tasty ! The Aloo palya too was very different , it wasn't the usually palya . 3.mangaluru bhajji - the sight was again mouth watering , there were 4 yummy looking round bhajji , the flavour was there and it was really good . 4.filter coffee - the filter coffee was extra good here I wonder what's the speciality. The coffee was strong and the flavour was really good .
The ambience is very retro , the double doors , the wooden benches etc . It takes us back in time . They have a separate family section seperated by a wooden wall . Overall the restaurant stands upto it's legendary name . A must visit for masala dosa lovers and coffee lovers and south indian...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a traditional, old-school Bangalore breakfast or tiffin, this place is for you, just like it was for me. I was first intrigued by what lay behind the door, especially because the person at the entrance looked like he took his job very seriously. The door was almost shut, and he would only let you in if there was space available to sit. We were allowed in after about a five-minute wait, but we had to share our table with a couple sitting across from us. Since it was our first time, we didn’t know what was on the menu. The only menu displayed was handwritten near the cash counter, entirely in Kannada. And no, we can’t read Kannada, though I can speak the language. The easiest thing to do in such situations is to look around at other tables and see what looks enticing and that’s exactly what we did. We’re not big fans of the typical Bangalore-style thick, heavy dosa, so we skipped that. Instead, we ordered idly, vada, khara bhaat, and khali (empty) dosa, which is called set dosa in Tamil Nadu. When I saw someone at the next table having it, I told the waiter I wanted set dosa. He replied, “We don’t have set dosa.” I pointed at the dish and asked, “What’s that then?” He said, “That’s khali dosa.” And that’s how I learned it’s called khali dosa! Of course, we finished with a by 2 coffee mix, a new phrase I picked up from the couple sitting across from us. It means one coffee shared between two people, medium strong. My personal favourites: the idly (as always, Bangalore idlis are the best) and the khali dosa. That’s my experience at Mahalaxmi Tiffin Room, established in 1926. Total bill: ₹193/- Will I go again? Yes, to try out the...
