All the world is a stage for food and drinks and ShakesBierre is the bard.
The ambience is Shakespearean and the music modern which is a great combo for me.
Went with a bunch of foodie friends and enjoyed a great dinner with great mocktails and cocktails.
Drinks: Shakespure: the signature ShakesBierre mocktail is a mix of orange, peach, ginger, pineapple and mint stirred with sour mix. It's slightly on the sweeter side but it's a good option for non alcohol drinkers.
Pearl Jam: mango and soda based mocktail, it is a delicious drink and presented in a large wine glass.
The Devil gets his due: whiskey based signature cokctail which is smoked at the table with apple smoke. It's both a joy to see it being made and having this delicious cocktail.
Whiskey sour: one can never go wrong with this all time classic cocktail made with whiskey, egg white and sweet & sour.
Food: Arepa with grilled prawns: this Venezuelan specialty was a delightful appetizer with the drinks. It looks like a deconstructed taco. Loved the green apple slaw inside the fried arepas.
Nam Prik Lamb: the Thai style stir fried lamb was my favorite appetizer. The lamb was not chewy at all and the peppercorn in the dish made the flavor perfect.
ShakesBierre chips: these homemade tapioca, raw banana and potato chips are such a great healthy option to munch on while you wait for your food.
Mushroom Rendang: two things about this dish. First, they used both button and shiitake mushrooms which automatically made it my favorite mushroom dish ever. Second they used coconut milk in this Indonesian specialty which made it taste even better. You can just keep eating this main course without any rice.
Couscous with Moroccan vegetable tagine: the tagine was the only average dish we had all night but the couscous was yummy and perfectly made.
Wok tossed chicken dumplings: these were tasty as they should be and paired well with the Cantonese fried rice.
Vietnamese Lamb Curry: the star main course for sure. This is one of the best lamb curries I have had in Bangalore. The lamb was melting in the mouth and the Curry leaves and coconut milk based gravy was lip smacking good. Again a curry you could have without any sides.
Goan fish curry: The fish should have been cooked for a little longer but otherwise the flavors were on point. The kokum and coconut milk made the curry a 5/5 for sure. It paired so well with the Jasmine rice.
Desserts: they were so good that we tried five of them
Baked blueberry cheesecake: one of the best presented cheesecakes ever, this would be my third favorite blueberry cheesecake after Big Chill in Delhi and Glen's Bakehouse in Bangalore.
Red wine poached pear: the pears were so delicious that we forgot about the olive oil cake on the side. You just mix the pears in the whipped custard and enjoy the deliciousness.
Shakesbierre Brownie: a deconstructed brownie, this is a house specialty and is presented like a mountain along with honey nut crunch ice cream. I liked the ice cream but the deconstructed brownie meant that the hard crust and the soft brownie were separate. So the best way to enjoy would be to mix a little bit of all the things on the plate and eat it together.
Baked Alaska: I enjoyed the taste and the presentation for this one. They flame it at the table with Brandy and it's a delight to watch as the brandy falls over the baked alaska of ice cream in slow motion. It tasted even better than usual as they enclosed the baked alaska with Meringue.
Coconut Crème Brûlée: the best dessert of the night, the coconut flavor did the trick. The chef's take on the classic Crème Brûlée is a winner. Paired with the raspberry cream on top, I could eat the entire dessert by myself if I had not tasted the four others before this.
All in all a great dining experience. And it's a must visit place for anyone who loves good food and drinks. Special mention to our server Bijit. He knows everything about the dishes from the content to how they are made. He made it even a better experience by telling us all about the...
Read moreA new pub at a prime location in the center of the city, ShakesBierre is spread across a huge area. It is a micro brewery which is not operational yet. However, their signature cocktails and mocktails are superb! They have many signature dishes from various countries and they serve almost all global cuisines. So, there is a lot of variety on offer for everyone. There are options to sit at the rooftop with a great view of the surroundings. The terrace is also huge and this place can host a large number of guests. It's ambience is analogous to the English style. This place has a unique theme with dated English words from the bygone Shakespearian era. There are portraits of Williams Shakespeare on the walls and also the furnitures truly match their theme. After shopping in Brigade road, I went to this place with my husband and some of my friends after seeing the reviews on Zomato as it was nearby and had something new to offer at reasonable prices. Ice Breaker was an amazing mocktail with basil, mint, coconut and litchi flavours. It was a very refreshing mocktail. The way it was presented was also soothing to the eyes. Sugar Cane Virgin Mojito was another unique mocktail. It was quite impressive and the taste of sugar cane juice was refreshing. Shakes Pure was a mocktail prepared with peach, orange, pineapple, ginger and their signature mix. It was a fruity drink with the appropriate sweetness and balanced flavours. I liked most of their signature food which the staff recommend to me. Patatas Bravas was one such palatable preparation. It was made with potatoes that were crispy along with spinach lapas. The chutney and aioli was tasty. Another favourite finger food to have here is the Shakesbiere Chips. I had it throughout my drinks and it was amazing. Potat, Raw Banana and Tapioka is used for those chips. Their Crispy Chaat is unique and innovative. They had used spinach, egg plant and bitter gourd for preparing this delicious chaat. So, it was healthy recipe and I liked it. The chutneys used were too good. I love lamb dishes and if it is done perfectly then it's always a delightful experience. Lamb Koobideh was also a perfect minced lamb dish. It had spices and was a chagrilled preparation. Another amazing lamb preparation was their Tawa Lamb Chops. It was too good in taste. The lamb was perfectly prepared and was too soft and succulent. It had spices and flavor that made me salivate. Sambal Prawns were made with in-house sambal paste. It didn't impress me. They have croquettes that are made of lentil and chickpeas. It was flavoursome. The Vietnamese Rolls that I had at Shakesbiere was one if its kind and an excellent dish. In salads I had their Combodian Banana Blossom which was awesome. Their Thai Curries were quite decent and it's good that they have the Thai dishes as I was craving for it. I had the Red curry and Massaman curry both of which were not excellent or outstanding but OK to have. I also had their Moroccan Vegetable Tagine which had fresh vegetables such as olives, carrot zucchini et. It was delectable. Juleh Kabab and Murgh Angaar were both a good option in Chicken that I had. All of their desserts were yummy. I had the Sorbet which was home made, Mille Feuille and Brioche Cake. Their service was fast and they served the orders quickly. Overall, a good place with reasonable prices to have drinks and food near...
Read moreWith breweries sprouting in every part of the city, the city center seemed to be lagging behind until Shakesbierre opened up recently at Brigade Road in the heart of the city.
AMBIENCE:
The place is located on the top floor of Eva mall on Brigade Road. As soon as you enter the place you might feel like you are in a different period altogether. The decor takes you to the Shakesperean era, the color scheme is mostly like those beige-yellow pages of old books. They have 2 floors, the lower floor is an indoor seating but not air conditioned as it is open from the sides. The top floor is rooftop seating with a bar of its own and moslty metal tables and chairs.
The lower floor has wooden seating mostly along with a few couches, with dim pretty lights and chandeliers. The wall murals deserve a special mention as they are inscribed with various quotes and paintings depicting the work of The Bard. A big stairway leads to the top floor, under which there are two private Karaoke rooms as well. The place has a very laid back and chill vibe, music being quite soft in the background.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES:
The place has recently started brewing with 6 great beers on tap namely : The Bard (German Weissbier), Brisky Brutus(American Stout), Romeo's Swagger(Belgian Witbier), As you spike it (Herb Saison), Ale Othello (Indian Pale Ale) and Taming of the Brew (German Pilsner). Tried a sampler of these and all were quite good. The best among them was The Bard which I later ordered a full glass. Being a fan of light beers, this was really amazing and is definitely going to be a competitor for Tintin Toit really soon. The Shakesbierre Chips which are an assortment of different droolworthy chips are a must to order and they go really well with the beer.
For starters, me and my friends ordered Hunan Tofu, Devilled Eggs, Beetroot Shammi Kebab, Duhara Khumb and Mezze Platter. The Tofu was really soft with perfect spices, Devilled Eggs were decent as they were deep fried, Beetroot Shammi Kebab is the one must order item for vegetarians here, the kebab has a really nice flavor of beetroot and is a delight to have. Duhara Khumb was quite ordinary with stuffing of mushroom and there was no khoya as mentioned in the menu. The Mezze Platter with Hummus, Tabbouleh and pickled vegetables with fresh pita breads was another great pick for vegetarians.
For mains, we had Romana Pizza and Nilgiri Kai Korma with Naan. The Pizza had really great toppings of grilled artichokes, sundried tomatoes, black olives, roasted red peppers and red onions. This thin crust pizza was liked by all. The Korma gravy was quite flavorful but may not be suitable for the North Indian palate.
For Desserts, we had Chocolate Cremeux and Warm Brioche Cake. For chocolate fans, Cremeux is a must order as this is a chocolate pudding with dense chocolate crumble served with butterscotch and hazelnut praline ice cream. The brioche cake is orange flavored cake soaked in reduced milk served with whipped ginger cream and coffee ice cream. Both the desserts were heavenly.
SERVICE AND COSTING:
The place is medium expensive but definitely worth the price because of the quality and the portions. The service was a bit slow but the staff was really hunble and they are really up for the feedbacks.
All in all, a great place to hangout with family and friends over good...
