Guess what I discovered yesterday. Well, I found this hidden gem in Whitefield which is a perfect place for a date, a family brunch, or even a meal with friends. I visited ‘A lot like crepes’ café in Whitefield and instantly fell in love with the place. It’s got a rustic feel to it. I love the outdoor seating amidst the trees or even the cozy indoor space next to the fireplace. You may encounter mosquitoes if seated outside but they have kept repellants and other devices to ward them off. Let nothing deter you from enjoying the experience.
Now coming to the main part, the food of course 😊
I tried the following:
Orange Virgin Mojito – One of the best mocktails I have had in ages. I loved the way the flavours were infused together. It was refreshing to say the least.
Mushroom Spinach Savoury Crepe – If you love the combination of mushroom and spinach, order this without a second thought. I personally loved the taste and the creaminess. Served with hand cut crispy French fries and a garlic dip which is heavenly.
Veg Pockets – This is again a must try. The filling was delicious. I loved the wedges and the veggies served with it.
Vegan Breakfast platter – Why should non-vegetarians have all the fun? Well , on a serious note, all vegan lovers will relish this platter which has generous portions. The hash browns are crispy. I thoroughly enjoyed the sausage made of soy and veggies. The scrambled eggs were replaced with scrambled tofu. The baked beans is a delight too. Overall it’s a protein packed meal which is worth the buck.
Strawberry Nutella Crepe – This is a delicious crepe which has Nutella and the goodness of fresh strawberries. Presentation and the taste both take the cake.
Cheesecake in a jar – Tried blueberry, strawberry and Oreo flavours ; all of them tasted great
The service is good. Everything is made fresh to order so it may take a bit longer than usual but it’s totally worth the wait.
They have a fabulous weekend brunch buffet so do check that out. The veg version is priced at 399 and non-veg at 499 so can’t beat the price either.
Overall verdict –...
Read moreA lot like crap is more accurate. Just finished a meal of stuffed crepes, hash browns and fries that we had ordered for breakfast from this place and it's one of the worst meals I have ever had...no exaggeration. The chicken and pesto stuffing in the crepe was dry, the chicken was overcooked, genuinely had trouble swallowing the food as I wanted to throw up. The hash browns were not cooked well, they were far too oily and had no flavour. The fries were passable compared to the rest of vomit-inducing food. The accompanying sauce was some tasteless, congealed, industrial glob. We still have some food leftover that we are just going to throw away. Pretty sure none of the food was freshly made. Probably ate something that was two days old. Yuck. These high ratings make no sense to me, stay way imo.
Updated: I was impressed that the owner responded to my strongly worded review with a proper response (instead of a templated response like most brands do!). So I thought I would give this place another try. But I have to say I am still very disappointed. The mushroom and pesto sauce in the veg crepe was not bad but the crepe itself was not well-made. I have family that is French and I have eaten crepes in France so I know what a real crepe tastes like and THIS is not it! The sandwiches were as good (or as bad) as what I would expect from a random restaurant on a highway...I did not finish either my veg or non-veg sandwiches. Although I did not appreciate the condescending tone of the owner trying to explain to me what a hash brownie is, I gave it another try...and it was only slightly better because I squeezed out the oil, panned it, and ate it with lost of ketchup. So all in all, while I admire that the people running the restaurant cared enough to write a real response, I hope they will put more of that energy into improving their food. Wish you...
Read moreI recently visited The Cafe - Lot Like Crepes for brunch and had an overall disappointing experience. While the food was decent, the service left much to be desired. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback about the extended waiting time and lack of attention to customer order priority.
We arrived at the restaurant around 11:45 am, looking forward to a pleasant brunch. We were aware that they mentioned a slight delay in their service, but what followed was completely unacceptable. Our visit ended up lasting much longer than anticipated, as we didn't leave until 2:10 PM.
One of the main issues we encountered was the significant delay in receiving our orders. Despite arriving before a group of six, we were served after them, which was frustrating and seemed unfair. It appeared that the restaurant did not follow a first come, first serve policy, leading to confusion and inconvenience for us.
Additionally, throughout our time there, it felt like we constantly had to remind the staff about taking our orders and following up on missed items. It was disappointing to see such a lack of attentiveness from the servers, as it further added to the delay and disrupted our dining experience.
While the quality of the food itself was satisfactory, the subpar service overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. The restaurant should prioritize improving their efficiency, communication, and adherence to order priorities to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for their customers.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my recent visit. While the food was not bad, the incredibly slow service, disregard for order priority, and the need for constant reminders made for an unpleasant brunch experience. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving their service standards...
