I went to an Udupi restaurant in front of Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and ordered poori. I told the staff & Cashier that I only wanted potato palya and no coconut chutney. After billing, She ( Cashier) told me I had to pay an extra ₹10 or take the Palya else I have to take coconut Chutney. They even said I wouldn't get saagu. After some argument, they finally gave me the Sagoo as I refused to pay the extra ₹10.
Later, I asked to use the women washroom, but the Women Cashier told me to use the men's washroom because the women's washroom is only for her. She refused to open it, saying I might make it dirty, despite of making request she was keep on telling me to use Men's washroom. Been a regular visitor to hotel Shilpa - now it's udipi Malini grand.
Parking is difficult to find, street parking is too risky, due to lots of commercial buildings nearby.
The best part of the restaurant is its service. The staff is polite and helpful. Service was good.
Downstairs is self service and the hall above has a sitting, There upstair price is different from the downstairs even without an AC. .The washroom is quite clean and hygienic.
Food was good, Must try Kara bath / dosa / idli / kesari bath / thali / rava idli and so on

Read moreOnce this restaurant was Shilpakala and was doing roaring business......It was located opposite the Bowring Hospital, close to Shivajinagar Bus station, Commercial Street and was doing well. Now this restaurant is also serving good food like in the past.... reasonable and clean too. Self service and table service like earlier exists now too.
Ordered for a masala dosa and it was just crispy all the sides, less oil, filling of palya was perfect and onions in it not very tiny was brownish and it paired well with the aloo, sambar and chutney ... They have plenty of North, Chinese and chaats and ice cream like...
