A few days back i visited this cafe and bistro situated in just inside the Gorkha Administrative (GTA) Building just opposite the City Centre 1 salt lake, salt lake. . This place is a great one for asian, chinese , Tibetan food. . 👌Ambience: The insides are minimally designed but with ample space. There's an open lawn where people can sit and enjoy their meal on cool evenings. There's a huge mural on the entrance which is illuminated in blue light in the evening. The inside is spacious. And alos they have all ingredients in a jar to sell for us and also have some beautiful ear rings key rings from Gangtok and sikim .. . 😋I tried ---- . . 😋1) crispy veg wok tossed - . It's really a new food for me and I really love that. Its a versatile round-bottomed cooking vessel, originating in China. ...Woks are used in a range of different Chinese cooking techniques, including stir frying, steaming, pan frying, deep frying, poaching, boiling, braising, searing, stewing, making soup.so i love that . . 😋2) momocha ------- . It's a momo with a deep gravey and about its taste it's so good and it's really a good mixture of momo and deep greavy, mostly in katmandu they use to have this for their breakfast. One of the dishes in katmandu is called momocha or momo, which is, in some way, similar to Chinese dumplings. It is, in fact, believed that its origin is rooted in Katmandu. . 😋3) stir fried Cantonese veg------ . It's a another mouth melting chinese item for me and I love it.its contain all kind of veg item like Vegetable Lettuce Wraps, carrots, bins, cabage, bok choi, broccoli and made by mix together the stock, soy sauce, oyster sauce, Chinese rice wine, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Mix the cornstarch to a paste with 2 tablespoons water in another small bowl. . 😋4) crispy cauliflower in creamy pepper sauce-- . Add the cauliflower florets and stir until well coated . This may take a bit of stirring to get the batter into all the crevices. . . ✌️Service----- The service was good. Cash and card accepted. One can buy them for reminiscing the taste of sikim as well as darjeeling at home. Food serve is so good out of my expectation, behavior of everyone is really so nice and thats why i recommend to you. However the only drawback here is that they don't have parking inside the building. One has to park on the adjacent road to visit here. . ✌️Food was awesome, pocket friendly and the quantity and quality of food was also very nice. The seating area is quite big and this place is a great one to hangout with friends while having some good foods. Homemade masala, vinegar, paste are also available at this place in affordable price. . . ✌️ Will come back soon✌️ ✌️Highly...
Read moreI was here at this beautiful place a few days back. It's a spacious cafe with some beautiful ambience located right opposite to the CC1, Saltlake. The place is easy to locate and is situated at the Gorkha Bhawan. From the name, Gorkha, we get reminded of the Gorkha Regiment from North East, and something synonymous happens to be with this place. The food that they serve have some inclination towards the North Eastern food culture. The food was really amazing and the staffs were very much courteous enough.
They have indoor and outdoor seating facility, with some well decorated walls outside and also the interiors were beautiful, with some beautiful wall hanging frames.
They also serve some hill based pickels, namely, dalle dalle paste et cetera, these are darjeeling based pickel and tastes amazing. You can surely buy those and have it a try.
They serve Chinese, Tibetan, asian cuisines and they expertise both in Veg and Non veg meals.
Coming to the food I tried:
Stir fried Cantonese Veg:
This vegetable stir fry is easy to make and so delicious. The crisp, tender veggies are tossed in a rich, savory sauce with plenty of aromatics. Serve it as a main or a side for a simple, healthy dinner. (Vegetarian, Gluten Free adaptable)
Crispy Cauliflower in Creamy pepper sauce:
Firstly they create a batter by adding milk, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, pepper, smoked paprika, sea salt, arrowroot starch, coconut flour et cetera, then they add cauliflower florets and stir well until the batter gets integrated with the florets, and guess what it tasted amazing.
Mandala Special Meal Bowl:
This was a rice bowl with some tossed vegetables and it tasted so amazing, one can have this as a whole and will fill your tummy at a go. You can try this out in your lunch or dinner and it will be highly healthy, nutritional and heavenly in taste too. And this is one of their Special dish.
Honey Darssan with Ice cream:
So any dessertarian will know what this is! Its a traditional Chinese dessert, with deep fried flat noodles tossed in a delicious honey syrup, combined with some roasted sesame seeds. This dessert is ideally served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but here it was a chocolate one, and that blended amazingly good as well.
So, all in all a 5/5 for me for the ambience, food, staff and it's uniqueness. A must visit place, will surely love to visit again. For more food talks, visit my Instagram page: Jimit Patel ~...
Read moreA quite and aesthetically pleasing eatery located opposite City Centre 1. I loved how serene the interiors of this Cafe cum Bistro were despite being located in such a busy area. They have a beautifully set up garden seating area as well.
We went in during the lunch hours this Sunday and were led to our table by the very polite staff members there. We took a look at the menu and decided our meal as follows-
VIRGIN SUNSET- Started the meal with this refreshing, mildly tangy mocktail.
FIVE SPICE CHICKEN SANGHAI STYLE--- RECOMMENDED!! Soft pieces of chicken, fried and tossed in soya sauce and garlic with star anise. A must try for anyone who is looking for a good Chicken starter.
SWEET AND CHILLI PORK--- RECOMMENDED! I love Pork meat in general and this starter definitely satiated my Pork cravings. The dish has strong sweet flavors and may not be liked by all. They have Spicy Pork starters too like Hakka Style Chilli Pork which is equally good.
SPICY CORIANDER FRIED RICE- RECOMMENDED! It was not at all greasy. The rice was of good quality, tossed with veggies and had the perfect blend of flavors. I also loved how fragrant this dish was and I couldn't stop myself from taking a second serving.
KUNG PAO CHICKEN- RECOMMENDED!! Tender medium sized pieces of chicken fried with a thin coating of cornflour in a tangy-spicy and perfectly thickened gravy. The gravy also contained generous quantities of veggies and Cashew nuts. Definitely one of the best Kung Pao preparations I've had.
CARAMEL CUSTARD- RECOMMENDED! I normally don't order caramel custard as I'm not a big fan of it but ordered it here on a friend's recommendation and it was one of the best dessert decisions ever! The custard had absolutely no smell of egg and had a lovely smooth, cramy texture. Also, The caramel accompanying it was of the right consistency and sweetness. It wasn't too sweet to give one a sugar rush or too bland to be called a dessert. It was indeed JUST PERFECT!!
You may have noticed that I have Recommended almost everything I had from this eatery and believe me when I say it, I am not exaggerating at all. This place really is that good.
It is perfect for family dinners as well as dates. Can't wait to go back and enjoy more of the delicious food, soothing ambience and lovely...
