Tucked along the road leading towards the Assembly Junction, this restaurant quietly blends into the flow of traffic, with just enough space outside to accommodate a few two-wheelers. There wasnât any clear signage for car parking, so larger vehicles might find it tricky.
As you step inside, the ground floor hosts a small tea counterâfunctional and casualâwhile a flight of stairs takes you up to the main dining area. The interior carries an old-world charm, thanks to its wooden furniture, dim lighting, and a chandelier that adds a subtle vintage vibe. Though the absence of air conditioning might concern some, the space felt surprisingly comfortable and calm. The atmosphere was peaceful, almost meditative, making it ideal for unhurried meals. The handwash area was clean and maintained, and the staff were courteous, even suggesting dishes based on personal preferences, which felt thoughtful.
We dined in a group of seven for lunch and sampled a mix of their offerings. The Afghani chicken and chilli chicken arrived firstâwell-seasoned with rich flavor, though the chicken itself lacked the tenderness weâve come to expect from other well-known spots. The tandoori rotis were on the thinner side and crisped up more than usual, which some may enjoy, though personally I found myself missing the softer, fluffier ones typical in the Old City.
Their chicken biryani, however, was the highlight. It came in a generous portion, enough to satisfy three adults easily. The chicken was tender, the rice was aromatic, and the masala wasnât overwhelmingâbalanced just right for a well-rounded meal.
In terms of pricing, it stood out as good value for money. For a moderately large group, the bill was reasonable and didnât leave anyone wincing. While not every dish was a hit, the experience as a whole was pleasant, practical, and worth a return visit, especially for...
Read more1 star ratings not for the restaurant, it's mainly because of the bad and disappointing customer service that we had faced on 10.09.2019. First we had ordered 2 starters which we received after waiting for about 15-20 mins, then we had ordered main course which was also served after waiting for another 20 mins. During the last stage of our order, we had ordered a Irani tea just to try so that we could order again for our family, at at that time we encountered very disappointing and rude behaviour from one of their serving staff, he just got the bill along with the tea that we had ordered for tasting purpose. We were all shocked to see this, as we were still deciding to order more tea and appetizers for our family the guy asked us to order once so that he doesn't have to serve us many times. With this kind of behaviour from their staff we were already unhappy, so we decided to leave from the restaurant. The main disappointment that we faced was when we headed to the payment counter to give them feedback about the rude behaviour of their staff, the person was there again arguing with us without accepting his stupid behaviour. This was the very worst customer we have ever experienced.
Note to the restaurant management: I request you to kindly train your staff to respect the customers so that the other customers don't face this kind...
Read more1 Word-Strong Competitor for hotels in that area. I have visited almost all hotels in that area, but, others hotel's charge way too much and they not worthy. Visited here last weekend. First, we went to 1st floor, where actual Astoria Restaurant is placed and it is beautifully adjusted, calm, relaxing. Ordered Chicken soup, Gobi Manchurian, Fish fry, Chicken thangdi, Mutton biryani and Deserts. I am in love with the taste, quality and quantity. I still can't believe that the cost is soo less, making Astoria the most worthy hotel. I personally met the chef and Thanked him. Now, it's my favorite goto hotel. Also, menu have alot of Vegetarian items as well. Next, the finishing touch is at the basement hotel, which is for Tea, Coffee and snacks and the taste is fabulous, authentic hyderabadi taste to give some dance to your resting taste...
