Ciao Cochin — Restaurant in Kerala

I am stating the obivious, but still thought I should post this, so that people can avoid it, if they see this as a genuine review. Positives first, very courteous and accomodating staff. Ambiance was okay for the price, but it was over crowded with people from their Masala restaurant. I wanted to avoid the canteen feel of Masala, but ultimately, that is what I got.

We ordered four dishes, pizza was nice, nothing great but good for the price. Lasagna was not good. There are many places where u get decent lasagna in kochi. I am not comparing to the good ones, we have. But it was not even decent. Ordered baby chicken with honey glaced sauce. It was just chicken with brown sauce. The chef has no idea about the description in the menu. Fourth item, pork ribs with red wine reduction was the most atrocious. Again, no red wine and no seasoning. It was simply not edible. I made my dissatisfaction on the food and especially the pork ribs. They told they have not added any wine. I left it there as it was not edible. They charged for all dishes and we came back to our room for a pack of dark fantasy.

I agree that it is holiday inn and not grand hyatt, but they should do some justice to the menu. If a chef is on leave, better turn off the dishes so that the customer may not leave dissatisfied.

Today we went for family dining..But twe were very disappointed by the treatment of the staff. The waiter was very rude while taking the order and when we raised complaint the manager came .He was sorry for the junior staffs member .Thts when two In house guests walked in basically two foreigners they let them dine food out of the menu specially prepared for them .when we again raised complaint , the manager said it was because of pre-order. We specifically asked when we sat to dine in if we could take something especially out of the menu and we mentioned we were ready to pay but they said they don't serve any ala carte on weekends . The manager wanted to offer free salads and free deserts for us becoz we raised the injustice done to us .for customers like us we need respect when we come In for fine dining experience. I would never recommend this place to anyone becoz it's not money always we come to these five star hotels for some memorable moments but such places offer such disrespect and indifference to customers .very bad behavior from the hotel staff and very bad mismanagement from the hotel authority .I hope the IHG takes this seriously .anyways I won't renew the...

Loved the experience here. We went with the set menu option (calamari fritters, steak, and chocolate mousse dessert), mix veg pizza, mushroom risotto, and a mocktail.

What I loved the most here:

The ambience - it's a small outdoor sitting area with a lot of plants around. It's a fun cozy outing for dining in.

Food: Everything was perfect. Portion was good for the price. Loved the dessert the most. Steak wasn't actually medium to well done as requested but good nonetheless.

What could be improved:

Limited vegetarian options: would have loved to go for set menu options for everyone but they didn't have vegetarian options. Ditto for the a la carte menu. Didn't check the menu beforehand - would suggest to consider checking if you have dietary restrictions.

Service: The service is super slow. Even though I couldn't see a lot of folks, few dishes took forever to come.

Mosquito problem: since it's an outdoor area, i understand there is precious little you can do about mosquitos but they really mar...
