Mary's Kitchen — Restaurant in Kerala

The place was very nice, the atmosphere was very nice, the service was very friendly but the food left much disappointment. Me and my girlfriend have been travelling India a month and tried many kurma dishes and cashew currys and this one was unfortunately our least favourite.. both the currys were very watery and lacked the indian flavour punch of the rest weve had, also the pea and cashew curry was about 80% peas, we also orderd garlic naan which didnt seem to have any garlic in or on it which most other resturaunts do but we could smell the garlic so guessed it was just rubbed over. I hate leaving a bad review and spending money on food I dont enjoy but as the ratings were so high on Google I found my self in Mary's kitchen disappointed. We went here for dinner and were really disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype. The guy running it was lovely, but the food was well below average and actually overpriced considering the competition in the area. One particularly bad dish was the cauliflower curry, which managed to be too sweet and far too oily, with big chunks of not properly cooked out cornflour turning it into pure stodge. The nans weren't nan bread, they had no rise to them at all, they were more like paratha without any of the layering. This family run restaurant is situated at walking distance from Fort Kochi beach. This restaurant is situated on the terrace of a house and only about 25 people can sit and have food in this place. Went for dinner here and ordered fish molly, chappati, fish fry and lemon soda. Food takes about 15-20 minutes to be served once we order. They don't serve appam at night. All the food we ordered was good. They make and serve food as per our spiciness requirement. If you go here for dinner be prepared for a few mosquito bites. There is no GST here and the rates on the menu are final. They don't accept credit/debit cards for payment here.
