The quality has went DOWN. Like literally gotten so bad. I had visited this spot a couple years back when momos were first starting to become a thing in Kochi and this spot had just opened. We went there because of the hype and at the time it was peak. Did not disappoint 10/10 food service and quality and price etc. The only complaint anyone had was the location itself and the lack of sitting space and the smell from the sewer nearby. Glad to see that has remained consistent over the years. Now again for the sake of nostalgia we went back yesterday and..well. Nothing good about it anymore. A Shifu platter is Rs.150 and it gets you 10 momos with some funky looking mayo, an ungodly amount of some random sauce i assume is Schezwan...? and something that looks like tomato chutney. I do not thrive off of criticising small local food spots as of I am anywhere near a decent cook but I know good food when I see it and ik a good spot that has caved in to all the hype and let down their standard of food. And this is one of those. It feels like they are now primarily relying on the PR and hype from people who saw the spot online for business. The momos have become smaller and less tastier and the hygiene of the place has gone down and the use of disposable cutlery??? Insane. I understand the economical reason but like...see if you could shift the spot a little left or right you can literally add a couple benches to sit down and get a few reusable cutlery. It's becoming all in all a bad business. Honestly if anyone wants to try the spot I'd say let them but most are going to be inevitably disappointed with the experience. You have so much potential and so much support of all youngsters who love momos and small local food spots. If only you could spend some time to make the customer service and overall set up better you wouldn't have to rely on flimsy internet PR...
Read moreFamous for: Shifu Special(Chowmein+Fried Momo's), Steamed Momo's, Fried Momo's, Manchurian Momo's, Schezwan Momo's, Chowmein (refer the menu attached for complete listing) Best quality Momo's at very reasonable prices. Read on only if you wish to know more about them. Shifu Momo's: A lookback! Kashyap and team serves the best Momo's in town without a doubt. So I would like to share with you guys what I have seen over the years from them. The fairy tale started 6 years back inside the complex. Started in a small area inside the complex in 2012. It was opposite Teena bakery. Back then the concept of Momo's was very new to Kochi. But Kochi sure did welcome it with open arms. It quickly gained attention and fans! They were never short on variety. I remember repeatedly trying the "Tandoori Momo's" back then. They kept growing and growing... In 2014, they took the current spot in the complex to accommodate a bigger crowd and variety. This was a difficult phase for them as they had to go through the brunt of an unethical system. Kashyap followed Gandhiji's ahimsa by serving free Momo's back then. With everyone's love and support, he overcame those hurdles and kept on serving us the best! They even opened a branch in Thevara three months back. (Opposite St.Jude Church) It was a long journey forward. I was glad to see this rapid growth of Shifu Momo's. P. Today I had their special Prawns Momo's to join the 6th Anniversary Celebrations! Congratulations! Well that's a concise look back. Looking forward for more from...
Read moreEveryone comments about the food and the taste.well I go otherwise, I explained to the owner very humbly about trying to switch to more sustainable means than one time plastic and this did not go down well with him.The sheer amount of plastic waste this one joint is generating is enough for much of the marine pollution happening in Kerala to account for. Not blaming any exclusive joint as such but collectively. He explained to me about customers not being able to spend 1 rupee extra per plate of food as it would tumble their profits ...well to all the readers who would sarcastically point at me and to all those shop owners who monger who the hell are you? Well to be frank just ask yourself one question
I'd you do not have this only one world to live and thrive on where else would you rather be? Your silly economics would not count...do not stumble me down saying there are no alternatives because there are ! Check out bio edible cutlery, natural cutlery and reusable cutlery...getting alternatives is easy changing selfish human mindset is not. I am not going to visit this or any other joint serving one time plastic because neither does the government have a clue not do these one time plastic users that's we just have one bloody earth to lean on. This is not philosophy this is the truth that's coming hard at you through every rainfal and flood. Next time the cutlery from this joint will float around at our homes.
Humans understand problems only when they are the...
