The food was so freaking good, I forgot to take a picture. We were literally quaking w excitement waiting for the food and looking at their Instagram page during the wait with our mouths watering each passing second.
This place does not joke around when it comes to meat because even their fries were fried in beef tallow to earn the title of- and I quote- "best fries I've ever eaten" by my brother (who is a world class fry enthusiast). A hidden gem in Edapally, Kochi and a meat lover's paradise. They had limited stuff on the menu but that's how you know it's a spectacular place.
We had a plate of beef brisket and pork ribs and we were BLOWN AWAY. The meat was so tender, it was literally falling apart in our hands and melting in our mouths. The brisket came w a side of pickled onions and gherkins which we were massive fans of. It just goes to show these people know what's up- they aren't trying to faff around with random sides and fancy sauces. They are doing their straightforward good meat, cooked well, paired with the perfect side!
We did think the pork was slightly tastier than the beef, with marination being sweeter (which I prefer) and just pork being the superior tasting meat however I'd recommend both.
I also love places that are small enough for the owner to be around and this being his passion project really shows. It gives a personal touch and a homely vibe that IM A HUGE FAN OF. This place is also literally put up in the backyard of a house with cute lights all around- genuinely made the exexperience so much nicer. We were able to chat with the founder for a bit because I massively stalked his Instagram and was able to recognise him walking around. He told us just a bit about how he sources his meat and his machines while we raved about the food being really good.
10/10 recommend (although I love the place enough to gatekeep it as well.)...
Read moreI have saved tons of brisket videos, meaning to try it at least once. There isn't a single place in my town or district, as far as I can remember. So, when this place came up in an Instagram reel, I immediately saved it and it has been on my bucket list for quite a while. There are a couple of brisket places in Kochi that my friends have shared, but I thought I would give this place a try first.
I visited with my friend yesterday around 3 p.m. The place is an elegant outdoor setup in the backyard of the owner's house. I had no idea how or what to order; it was my first time going to a place where brisket is served. The menu was quite simple, pasted like flyers on the glass. I ordered half a pound of beef brisket and a truffle beef sandwich. A couple of minutes later, we got our order. It was simple plating, which I liked. Once the food came, I immediately jumped into the brisket. It was thinly sliced beef, with juices dripping all over, along with some pickled onions. I had no idea what to expect from the first bite, and once I had it, I was absolutely blown away. It was so tender and juicy, kind of like butter; it melts in your mouth once you start chewing it. Flavor-wise, I can say it's a salty, smoky flavor. If you expect something like our traditional beef chilli or beef fry, you'll be disappointed. The brisket is 10+ hours smoked and cooked to perfection, which I request everyone try at least once. Coming to the truffle sandwich, it was also really good, with a hint of sweetness, but I kind of wished it had a bit of heat. The price of each items are also a bit high but considering the time spend to prepare these dishes and there are quite a few restaurants serving these i guess its justified. Overall, it was a really good experience. If you are looking for a good place to try brisket, you can definitely add this place...
Read moreForget word-of-mouth; these days, it's all about the Instagram reel, and Smoke Culture by Steve is certainly generating buzz.
I arrived a little before 8 PM, hoping to beat the rush, but still waited about 15 minutes. No complaints, though! Their waiting area is comfortable, and it gave me a chance to peek at the smokers, the kitchen, and the garden. The entirely outdoor seating, strung with hanging lights, creates an absolutely perfect ambiance for a relaxed dinner.
I came in with one mission: the beef brisket, and it did not disappoint. Paired with a soft brioche bread and a refreshing mango kombucha, my order arrived quickly (half pound). The server even encouraged me to ditch the cutlery and really get in there with my hands to fully appreciate the meat's texture – a move I wholeheartedly endorsed! While I've had brisket from other places like Rochas and Bell Pepper, this one stood out. The combination of the incredibly juicy and tender brisket with the accompanying pickle and brioche was a different experience. It offered a distinct flavor profile that really impressed me. And speaking of the brioche, it was my first time trying it, and it was delicious.
When it comes to drinks, they keep it simple with kombucha and Coke, but I didn't see any other juices or shakes on the menu. Since I was dining solo, I couldn't sample much more, but I'd highly recommend coming with a group of at least four if you want to try more of their offerings.
But let me tell you, the menu is a little on the higher side, so order wisely.
They accept all major methods. The main highlight, they have their own dedicated parking space right by the road, which is a rare and welcome...
