The only speakeasy in Kolkata which actually makes an effort to be hidden! It's located on the first floor of a heritage building, close to Park Street, behind an unmarked door. The ambience really embraces the ethos, the wood panelling, chandeliers, and oil paintings gives the place an air of serious refinement. I heard different genres of music, from soft pop to Arabic to gangsta rap. The seating is really comfy and planned for all group sizes. The upper level would suit larger groups. I went there on a Sunday evening and was quite surprised to see the place deserted. The liquor collection is well-stocked and varied. I had a few of their signature cocktails. All of their mixes had a story behind their recipe, all related to the heritage of Kolkata. I started off with Vistiman's Manhattan. Whiskey washed with peanut butter went well with walnut bitters, and was quite smooth for a first drink. The peanut chikki served along with it was a pretty good accompaniment. East-West G&T was really, light, saffron-infused gin blending well with a tonic made from Pandan leaf. Potter's Tradition was effortlessly ethnic, mishti doi washed lime and orange juices mixing seamlessly with rum and Pandan syrup. Mad Minstrel's Mule, served in an Ektara, introduced me to Peat Mist, which was combined with all-spice dram, gondhoraj lime, and bourbon. I finished up with The Presidency Float, butterscotch ice cream washed vodka went really well with the caramel and Tiramisu foam. The bartender introduced me to Bandel cheese and offered a few housemade cordials as well. The tenderloin steak was one of the best I've ever had. The presentation was at par with that of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The Isaan style steak, prepared with nan jim jaew sauce, was even better. I had a Montecristo No. 4 cigar as well, and I would definitely recommend it for those who like a medium-length cigar. The staff is really friendly and the service is excellent. Prices are high but that is expected. I would recommend this place...

Read moreWe had seen so many reels and videos about this place that we finally decided to visit and see what the hype was about. To our surprise, the café was quite small, with dark interiors and dim lighting that gave it a moody, cozy vibe — though it might not be everyone’s style. The menu was limited, focusing on a few curated dishes and cocktails, and the prices were definitely on the higher side. We tried the Truffle Chicken Fogottini, Elderflower Blaze, and Watermelon & Feta Neogrini. The food, especially the Truffle Chicken Fogottini, was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. However, the drinks didn’t quite hit the mark; they looked nice but tasted fairly average. Overall, it’s a good place to visit once if you’re drawn in by the aesthetic — the ambience is stylish and perfect for pictures. The food is genuinely very good, but quite expensive for the portion size and experience. So while it’s worth checking out at least once, it’s not somewhere we’d go regularly. A nice spot for a one-time indulgence, especially if you’re looking for good food in...
