Vegetarian Menu Highlights
While Trincasâ menu is dominated by meat-based dishes, the vegetarian options hold their own with a mix of traditional and contemporary offerings. Here's a look at some standout vegetarian dishes:
Cheese Corn Balls A perfect appetizer, these are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Served with a tangy dip, the cheese corn balls are a crowd-pleaser and a great way to start your meal.
Vegetable Au Gratin A classic Continental dish, Trincasâ Vegetable Au Gratin is rich, creamy, and comforting. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and topped with a generous layer of melted cheese, making it an indulgent treat.
Paneer Tikka Trincasâ take on this popular Indian starter is exceptional. The paneer is marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and grilled to perfection, retaining its softness while being infused with smoky flavors.
Vegetarian Stroganoff A unique addition to the menu, the Vegetarian Stroganoff is a hearty dish featuring tender vegetables in a creamy sauce, served with buttered rice. Itâs a must-try for those who enjoy European cuisine.
Dal Makhani and Tandoori Roti For lovers of North Indian food, Trincas offers an excellent Dal Makhani. Creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced, it pairs beautifully with their soft and buttery tandoori rotis.
Chow Mein Trincas does justice to Kolkataâs love for Indo-Chinese cuisine with its vegetarian Chow Mein. Loaded with vegetables, the noodles are flavorful and satisfying, making it a great option for a light main course.
Vegetarian Platter For those looking to sample a variety of dishes, the vegetarian platter is a fantastic choice. It includes a selection of starters and sides, offering a well-rounded taste of Trincasâ vegetarian offerings.
Taste and Presentation
The flavors at Trincas are a harmonious blend of tradition and creativity. Each vegetarian dish is carefully prepared, ensuring it matches the quality of their non-vegetarian counterparts. The spices are well-balanced, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine.
Presentation is another strong suit of Trincas. Whether itâs a sizzling platter or a creamy bowl of curry, the dishes are served with flair, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Service
The service at Trincas is impeccable. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations tailored to your preferences. Despite the restaurant's busy nature, the service remains efficient, ensuring you feel valued as a guest.
Pricing
Given its reputation and location on Park Street, Trincas is reasonably priced. The vegetarian dishes are affordable and portion sizes are generous, making it great value for money. Itâs an excellent choice for those seeking quality food in a premium setting without burning a hole in their pocket.
Ambiance and Hygiene
Trincas strikes a balance between nostalgia and modern standards. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, with tables set up to accommodate both small and large groups. Hygiene is clearly a priority, evident in...

Although the history of Trincas dates back to 1936 (thatâs three years before World War II started) when it began its journey as a tea room and bakery, the restaurant that we know today took shape in 1959 after its Swiss owner Cinzio Trinca sold it to Om Prakash Puri and Ellis Joshua. They converted the tea room to a restaurant and added âfloor showsâ
Going through the memories, you will come to know that in the 1970s, Trincas attracted celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Satyajit Ray, Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Tiger Pataudi, Sharmila Tagore, Kabir Bedi, and the West Indian Cricket team (talked with Owner). Live bands still perform here (review is written on 24-apr-2021), We witnessed the great performance of Kalash band...and they have some nice history on the walls including some famous names- Usha Uthup being one of them. Safety measures are in place.
another story goes like this (again by owner)- A gentleman called Rangam Mitra from England shared his memories where among other things he mentioned how in 1965 he brought over a friend and a friendâs friend to Trincas when asked to be taken to one of the most happening places in Calcutta. The friendâs friend happened to be Rajiv Gandhi,â said Anand. âWith the launch of the project, I have been coming across anecdotes which even my father was not aware of.â
Coming to food...
We ordered Fish Fingers ( Devilled Crab was not available), their famous Chicken Drums of heaven, and Trincas Sizzling Chelo Kebab...
Fish Fingers - There were 6 quite fat and large Bekti fingers- nicely crumbed and quoted, served with a good amount of thick hand-cut potato fries and Tartre sauce. Chicken Drums of heaven - soft juicy chicken pieces under thin batter crisp - something unique - which I could not think of... Chelo Kebab- sizzling kebabs (creamy Chicken and seek mutton kebab) were sumptuous...
Drinks- Mojito was really good...i had beer.
Trincas has always been a slice of nostalgia for my wife and itâll always remain so. there are many more happening and live pub/bar/restaurants in Park Street, but not everybody offer trip down memory lane. I would definitely recommend this.
PS: Paid parking is available...

The vibe & ambience of the place is really great. The decor has a classic retro touch to it, however it is very well maintained. The service too was promt & the staff is well trained. Now coming to what we had â˘Drums of Heaven along with the house special Ming 83 sauce (Strongly Recommended) This combination of the Ming 83 dip & the chicken drums of Heaven does wonders, however, that being said you should be extremely careful with the dip its extremely spicy!! â˘Veg Lasagna This was decent. Compared to the other dishes we tried, this can be given a miss. However, for vegetarians its a pretty good option. â˘Lobster Thermidor (Strongly Recommended) The creamy lobster meat comes with a side of mashed potatoes & boiled peas! The combination hardly ever goes wrong!! â˘Fish Chello Kebab Platter (Strongly Recommended) This comprised of the classic fish Irani Kebab, which had very appetizing smokey flavour, buttered rice topped with an poached egg, couple of mutton seekh kabab, a green chutney dip & a side of salad. â˘Pinacolada (Recommended) I am not a big fan of pinacolada, however the pinacolada here was really different from most places I have had & was good. â˘Caramel Custard (Recommended) This had the right balance of sweetness, perfect way to end the meal! Invitation Courtesy : Shahbaaz Zaman I am surely going back again soon. Absolutely loved the entire...
