Since there are several cafes by that name, especially a well-known one in Kolkata, India, I'll give you a balanced overview based on common feedback, focusing on the Kolkata establishment, which seems to be the most reviewed. Paris Cafe Review: A Cozy Bistro with Hits and Misses Paris Cafe often draws visitors in with its promise of a little slice of France, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere that many find perfect for a relaxing afternoon or a casual date. The Good: Ambiance, Desserts, and Service Atmosphere & Decor: The cafe is frequently praised for its charming, Parisian-inspired decor. It's often described as a cozy, Instagrammable spot with a good vibe for lingering over coffee. Desserts and Shakes: The bakery and dessert items are often the cafe's strongest suit. The Rainbow Cake is a customer favorite, and the frozen hot chocolate and Nutella shake are highly recommended for chocolate enthusiasts. Polite Service: Many reviewers highlight the staff as polite, patient, and prompt, contributing to a pleasant overall experience. The Mixed Bag: Food and Space Savory Food Quality: This is where feedback can be very inconsistent. While some customers enjoy the pizza, spaghetti, and French-inspired dishes, others have complained about the quality of some savory items, with some reviews calling them overpriced or disappointing. It seems the cafe's strength lies more in its sweets than its main courses. Crowding and Seating: Especially for the more central or older locations, the cafe is often described as quite small, which can lead to it feeling cramped or requiring a wait during peak hours. Some locations may also have issues with pests due to the open setting. Key Takeaways If you're looking for a cafe with great ambiance for a chat and a delicious sweet treat or coffee, Paris Cafe is generally a great choice. The decor alone makes it a lovely spot to spend time. If your primary focus is a full meal with high-end, perfectly executed French cuisine, you might find the savory menu to be inconsistent. It’s best viewed as a charming bakery-cafe rather than a full-service fine-dining restaurant. Read moreI've been quite a frequent visitor to Paris Cafe in the past, however on this particular instance, I had the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I ordered 5 items - a strawberry pastry, an Oreo cheesecake, a hot chocolate, a mushroom cheese spaghetti, and red velvet pancakes. Of the 5, the spaghetti tasted horrible - the toppings were too much and it smelled and tasted decidedly burned. But that wasn't the worst part - the worst was when I realised the cheesecake I was eating tasted rathee weird, so I looked at my next spoonful closely and noticed green pieces stuck to the bottom of it, sure enough on turning it over I found the bottom abundantly covered in green fungus. If I am not mistaken, that pastry was made several days ago, yet when I was ordering items the person at the counter assured me the pastries were fresh. Which means I was lied to, and I ate a good quantity of fungus, and now I have to wait and see if I suffer food poisoning. Of course they were apologetic and very nice after I showed them the problem, they brought me water and apologised profusely. They also refused to accept payment for my entire order. Which, while a nice gesture, does not make up for the fact that their carelessness and lack of proper hygiene measures in a crucial industry like the food industry, can be extremely harmful for people. The two workers there were always on the phone, barely attentive, and I would definitely like to see them do better. Really disappointed with the absolute neglect for the health...
