This is an old so s style restaurant . There are two types of seating areas. One is private chambers and another is open areas. We thought that the private chambers were congested so we sat in the normal open areas. According to us the restaurant was dirty and could be cleaned. We ordered a Chicken Big Mughlai Paratha and chicken kasha. As soon as we gave the order, the order was served. The Mughal Paratha and chicken kasha was hot. Though the restaurant was a little bit dirty but the food was tasty. Along with the Chicken Mughlai Paratha they had given aloo sabji and salad. The Mughlai Paratha was divided into four pieces. You could find a knife with spoons and forks by your plates. The chicken kasha was tasty and had only one breast piece. Overall the restaurant was old and not maintained but the food was good. You could also get Chinese dishes as well...
Read moreI went here during puja with my in-laws. They came here as a family when my husband was growing up. It is a must visit for the food, but also for the nostalgia of what dining out in Kolkata used to be like, a real window into the past. The food was excellent - some of the best Bengali food I had while in town that wasn't cooked at home. Half of the restaurant is booths, which is traditional for the area. You can close the curtains on the booth for a more intimate and reserved dining experience. If you want good, cheap food in a unique place, this is the place to go. This is far and away my mother-in-law's favorite food place in all of Kolkata. It is a must-try and a unique regional phenomenon in regards to the booths. It is fast, easy, convenient, unique, and a historic experience. I highly...
Read moreI went there for a while with my friends with lots of expectations. Consequently we ordered mutton biriyani, chiken kasa and something else. These both were made on the day before or may be more older. Anybody can understand that the biriyani was not fresh just looking at that. When we touched it we become 100% sure that they have just heat up the STALE biriyani and chiken kasa and served to us. It was looking like somebody has fried the biriyani. We asked them about this matter, they said - nothing like that we are thinking about. When we took a bite then ROTTEN smells were comming. Then we complained them, and as usual they didn't respond to us. It was a worst experience with PURBANI. The behaviour of the stuffs were very bad. Shame to theme. Never want to visit again...
