On 29july.... I went here with my project partner sunil to take a lunch after bought some project components at chandni market... And experienced this heritage restaurant..... " There was a time when Mughlai food was not available in every locality. You would not find biriyani stalls, kebab outlets in every part of Kolkata, rather they were concentrated in certain hubs. This was the time when Sabir's hotel came in the year India won its independence. Much to the delight of the people of Kolkata who have always celebrated global cuisine and varied tastes, Sabir successfully brought in the concept of authentic Mughlai dishes to the city of gastronomical delights! It was in 1940 when Sabir Ali travelled a long way from Lucknow to Kolkata in pursuit of a dream and to earn a living. He began his journey as a helping hand at a Titagarh Hotel but he always had an irresistible urge to run an eatery of his own. He was also an impeccable chef himself. This led to the birth of Sabir's Hotel. Today, Sabir is one of the most sought-after places in Kolkata for Mughlai delicacy. Being a chef himself, Sabir Ali created an identity for Sabir by cutting a niche with its magnificent specialties like Rezala, Paratha and tea. In those days, the restaurant was small and the kitchen was in front. It was more of a melting point or adda zone for the Kabuliwalas of Kolkata. Even today, you can find these Kabuliwalas of Kolkata come to Sabir in search of morning and evening delicacies. Even our very own Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and celebrated director Satyajit Ray were regular customers of this joint. ‘Rezala’is one delicacy that tops the list of Mughlai cuisine in Sabir. The special Rezala available here is very different from the rest of India. And you will not believe but this Kolkata special Rezala was cooked up first by Haji Sabir Ali with magical ingredients. The special recipe has a mix of ingredients including mutton breast, various spices, poppy seeds, ghee, jaffran, dry red chilli and jaitri. Turmeric is not used. The right proportion of the species gives it the scrumptious taste. One has to cook the entire thing on charcoal fire to get the perfect aroma. People who have been regular visitors of Sabir say that the taste has changed to some extent, but still the Rezala is superb. " But my pocket does not support me to try the special items so i tried tandoori roti and chicken bharta in a share with him....surprisingly It's perfect for that noon... So delicious😋😋😋 and pocket friendly 💕 I want to invite you all, please visit here and experience extraordinary things❤🩹 ....i loved it's environment ❣️first time i came here so I was feeling glad to visit. For more interesting and informative reviews about West Bengal even kolkata then you should follow me here and on also Facebook ..... Thanks🙏🌹❤

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sabir's Hotel in Kolkata, and it was truly a memorable experience. Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant is renowned for its delectable Mughlai cuisine and warm hospitality. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the aromatic scents of spices and flavorful dishes being prepared in the kitchen. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with a blend of modern and traditional decor that created a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The staff members were courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent service throughout my visit. Now, let's talk about the food. Sabir's Hotel is known for its authentic Mughlai cuisine, and it did not disappoint. I started my meal with their famous Galouti Kebabs, which were incredibly tender and bursting with flavors. The kebabs simply melted in my mouth, and the accompanying mint chutney added a refreshing touch. I also tried their Chicken Biryani, which was aromatic and perfectly cooked. The rice was fluffy, and the chicken was succulent and well-marinated. Each bite was a delightful blend of spices and fragrant basmati rice. The menu at Sabir's Hotel offers a wide range of Mughlai delicacies, including a variety of kebabs, curries, and biryanis. Vegetarian options are also available, ensuring there's something for everyone. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation of the dishes was appealing. In addition to the delicious food, Sabir's Hotel also offers a warm and inviting ambience. The restaurant is spacious and well-lit, creating a comfortable dining environment. Whether you're visiting for a family dinner or a gathering with friends, the seating arrangements can accommodate various group sizes. In terms of pricing, Sabir's Hotel offers good value for the quality and quantity of the food. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, the flavors and overall dining experience justify the cost. One aspect that impressed me about Sabir's Hotel was their commitment to cleanliness and hygiene. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and the staff followed strict protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of their guests. Overall, my dining experience at Sabir's Hotel in Kolkata was exceptional. The flavorsome Mughlai cuisine, warm hospitality, and inviting ambiance make it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. If you're in Kolkata and looking to savor authentic Mughlai flavors, I highly recommend paying a visit to Sabir's Hotel. It's a culinary journey that will leave you satisfied and wanting to come back for more.

Sabir's Hotel, the 70 years old Mughlai eatery near Chandni Chowk, whose name is almost synonymous with their most revered dish, the Mutton Rezala, is also offering Nihari on their breakfast menu. This year I decided to veer away from my favourite place for Nihari, The Sufia at Zakaria Street, opposite to Nakhoda Mosque. They do make outstanding beef Nihari but there are certain difficulties. You need to reach at an ungodly hour as the Nihari is stocked out by 6:30 am. Also the crowd is growing every year and jostling through a sea of people and fight for a seat isn't exactly a pleasing experience for me, especially at my age. This year they are not even offering sitting, its restricted to take away only. At Sabir, you don't need to be an early bird. Reaching by 7am is just fine, they start by that time. It is generally not crowded, so you can have your meal in peace. The waiters also behave better as they are not stressed. The flip side of course is there is no beef. If you are a staunch believer as I was, that your Nihari has to be beef, you need to go back to Sufia or Islamia or various other eateries in the city. We tried the Nihari, Paya and the Stew at Sabir. The Nihari was good, though for me Sufia still reigns supreme. Also to me, tastewise the Stew scored over the Nihari here. We took fluffy Tandoori rotis and paranthas as accompaniments. No dalpuri here though. Head straight to Sabir's Hotel if you are in mood for some Hot Nihari on a cold winter morning. #nihari #mughlaifood #mughlaibreakfast #nomnom #nomnomnom #calcuttacacophony #calcuttainstagrammers #calcuttafoodiesclub #_igbengal #_igkolkata #beautifulbengal #westbengaltourism #heritageofkolkata #heritageeatery #tandoori #tandoorfood

All these age old establishments present an unique challenge .. not everything is at their prime; either the food , the service or the atmosphere is not as it was in the distant past . In case of Shabir's Hotel ; the food quality is more or less maintaing it's lofty standards ; while it has compromised on the other aspects . The mutton rezala we had on a scorching summer afternoon , was pretty good and kept on tasting better and better as we went on finishing up the gravy . The mutton boti broke apart with a gentle squeeze and there was no need for much chewing. The tandoori roti had the right texture and helped in soaking up the flavours from the gravy . The serving staff can be bit hostile during the rush hours if they think diners are taking more time to finish their food. Most of the staff here have spent almost their whole adult lives here , and they are set in their ways . I believe it will be wrong to expect any change in the attitude of the servers in coming days . For us , it was a small sum to pay for getting to taste the unique Mutton Rezala and other dishes . But that may not work everytime or with everyone . The mutton tikia we ordered along with tandoori roti was bit dry to the taste. There are better places to have this dish in Kolkata. The restaurant prefers taking payment in cash and the staff would vocally explain that paying in card will get GST in to the picture. The expression says ' Are u that big a fool to pay by card ' . I guess that's the culture of Chadni Chowk electrical / electronics market finding its way into this establishment too.

"SABIR's HOTEL" Mughlai Cuisine Restaurant in Kolkata's Chandni Chawk area is a delightful stop for authentic Mughlai cuisine enthusiasts. With its dual seating options - one with air conditioning and another without - patrons can choose their preferred ambiance. Additionally, the restaurant offers private cabin-style seating within their air-conditioned section, catering to various dining preferences. The highlight, undoubtedly, is their authentic Mughlai fare. Their menu is extensive, featuring a range of dishes from breakfast options to the main course. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable, striking a commendable balance between quantity and cost. The aroma of their Biryani is a standout feature, and what's intriguing is the absence of "Atar" in their Biryani, offering a unique twist to this classic dish. Among their recommended dishes, the "Mutton Biryani," "Mutton Champ," "Chicken Rezala," "Tandoori Roti," and "Shaahi Tukra" stand out for their taste and quality.Beyond the delectable cuisine, the staff's exceptional behavior adds to the overall dining experience. Their professionalism and courteousness enhance the visit, ensuring a pleasant time for customers. It's worth noting that "SABIR" accepts both cash and card payments, offering convenience to its patrons. For anyone seeking an authentic Mughlai dining experience, "SABIR's HOTEL" is a must-visit destination, serving up a flavorful array of dishes that are sure to tantalize taste buds and leave a lasting impression.

If you are not aware of this legendary place still staying at Kolkata, where are you at bro? You miss something big. Being a foodie I always prefer good food over good fancy ambiance and sabbir’s is one of them. They are serving some delicious food since long, I mean they are serving from 60’s. Sabbir’s first got its fame for their breakfast menu which serves Tea, Paratha & Rezala. One can never goes wrong with this perfect duo but if you are not willing to have paratha, they got biryani for you with their chicken or mutton delicacies. I had not experienced their breakfast but I surely tried their few items like kebab & Biryani – 1) Chicken Biryani with Egg (Rs.195/- ) 2) Chicken Reshmi Kebab (Rs.180/- ) I will make this review short & crisp and it won’t take your time long. As I already told you guys that their food quality and taste was absolutely top notch but do not expect the fine dining experience. They have non-ac section at ground floor and a half ac section at upstairs. The service over here is also quick and prompt. If you are looking for a great restaurant near chadni chowk area and do visit them once , you won’t regret for sure. This place is located at 3/5, Biplabi Anukai Chandra Street, Chandni Chowk and open from 6AM-11PM. This place is pocket friendly too, costs approx. Rs. 800 for two. Do tried their rezala , biryani, paratha and kebabs. Will share my rezala with paratha experience over here shortly.
