*SEAT PROBLEM AND ALWAYS MISCALCULATE THE FINAL, You END UP PAYING EXTRA. There are excellent things about this place but couple of major cons also there and for that reason i will not visit this place again. I will keep this review very short. First positives: Food is tasty its like Bengali wedding home's morning food, so taste is good. Price is absolutely perfect according to pice hotel system. There are some pice hotel in Kolkata and charge bomb like a premium fine dining, they are not like this. Hygienic, yes you can't expect fine dining restaurant hygienic things but you will not feel bad or not found any dirty things around, they are quick to clean. Now the NEGATIVES: FOR ME THESE ARE BIG NO-NO. We visited friday around 2 pm and we have to wait atleast for 25 minutes for getting the seat, and that too arranged somehow in the table of 4 we sit 5 and sharing table with unknown 3 people, literally no place for keeping plates. I NEVER WAIT IN ANY RESTAURANT FOR GETTING THE SEAT, I AM PAYING FOR THAT FOOD ITS NOT FREE FOOD THAT I HAVE TO WAIT, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF RESTAURANT ARE THERE SO I WILL NOT THIS AGAIN AS I DIDN'T IN THE PAST. 2ND point they messed up the calculation and charge me extra 50rs and i found out they used to messed up the calculation almost in regular basis almost with every customer, i didn't counter them because of the rish and i paid extra. Absolutely poor service first you don't give receipt then you mis calculate and why mis calculate in your favour only? They never miscalculate in their loss. So I WILL NOT VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN. YOU GO WITH YOUR OWN RISK.

Nostalgic Fusion of the Old times taste tradition with current trends time. Place is itself like a Treasure hunt, hiking from the narrow lanes entering in a ale with old style residence climbing up the stairs and found your self in the luck if not a long line of un familiar faces around waiting for the turn for the food. 😀😁 Enough Nekaamo . So here you have option of Normal sitting in chair table , floor with old time aasun ( sitting carpet) Or AC room * ( 2 only) 8 seating at a time. Price differs 10-30 per item Food - daily change with availability of raw ingredients. But on Avrage common Rice - Normal & Fine Daal - plain & special * thick ghee add Posto bora - Treasure ( limited) Alu bhaja( jhuri) crunchy * Mutton - 2/4/ pieces plate Chiken Fish ( varieties a lot ) ( rohu/ koi/ aar/ sole/ catla/ tangra/ Pomfret/ hilsa / chingri/ chital peti/ *( fish tok ) Sabji - 2 types ( one would be veg ) another mixed with fish head or fish Ending chatni ( aam/ tomato/ pinaple) Misti doi Papar Plate servered in Banana leaf ( kola pata) Onion lebu chili, Water bottle available Mati glass available ( charged) Tip - need to have patience, small area handling huge hungry 😋 foodies and the servers ( waiter) have to deal a lot maybe sometime mistakenly messed up with item. Also food brings you happiness you can tip and transfer the happiness to the server so the next time will it comeback to you

I was visiting Janbazar near Esplanade to get a picture frame done for a painting... Felt some hunger pang knocking around 1pm... Like a lightning this old gem memories came alive in my grey cells... Without any delay started walking towards this 110 years old legendary institutional pice hotel of Central Kolkata... Got a comfortable seat and readied myself for the feast... Bhaath on Kolapata is simply love along with lebu lonka and maatir bhaar, any Bengali would swear by it.... Ordered bhaath, maacher matha(fish head) chochori, aalu bhaja(potato fries), ghono moong daal and the Sidhheshwari Special Posto Bora(Poppy seeds fritter)... Trust me the chochori taste like heaven, simply unputdownable... Daal and alu are bhalobasha as usual... Post clearing the plate, had some space still in my belly so ordered my all time favourite Chingri Malai Curry( Prawn Malai Curry)... Quintessential it was... A must try for chingri lovers... Didn't had any more spare in my belly for their mutton or chicken items, but ended my feast with chaatni... At Sidhheshwari Ashram you will get Mango chatni all the year round... Packed one plate of chochori and Malai curry for my mom... The total bill came around Rs.550 which I consider personally as justified as per value goes... Do visit this place if you are there in Dharmatala or Janbazar... These restaurants will always send you home smiling...
