HISTORICAL PLACE !!! Aminia - New Market is a legend. If Mughlai Cuisine, is what you are craving for then Kolkata should definitely be in your list. There are crores of Muslim brothers here whose ancestors could be traced back to the era of Nawabs and Mughals. We all know that the 10th Nawab of Awadh ( Modern Day Lucknow ) Wajid Ali Shah was exiled from his Kingdom by the British. Nawab with his people left Lucknow and came to Kolkata. They made Kolkata their home and popularised Awadhi Cuisine here. And from then on the culinary expertise has been passed on to their next generations. Aminia is an age old restaurant which started selling Lucknowi Foods from 1929. Their first branch was at Zakaria street which only ran for 20 years. The New Market Aminia is their second branch which started operations in 1947, which makes it 77 years old now. It is now the oldest branch and the most iconic and legendary branch of Aminia. It has both AC and NON AC sitting and probably the AC area still has Cabins. I chose to sit in the Non Ac area. Once you enter the restaurant you will be engulfed in Old World Charm. The service is extremely fast. I was served within 1 min of ordering the food. The Biryani is the star dish, which resembles pure Awadhi Cuisine. It is light, extremely aromatic and if accompanied with the Mutton Chap it becomes Heavenly. Excellent Taste. The Mutton Chops of the Mutton chap were so succulent that it felt like Cream. **Now the BEST PART - Aminia New Market is very very CHEAP. Located in such a prime location it is charging atleast 70-80 INR less for every item than restaurants of similar level. At last i would suggest, don't forget to have the Benarasi Pan from the shop just outside Aminia. It has been a long standing tradition among Bengalis. It is like a combo. Have a nice day cheers

Tandoori Roti Aminia’s tandoori roti is perfectly cooked, with a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy inside. The light charring adds a subtle smokiness that complements the robust flavors of the mutton dishes. It’s fresh and works well as a base for soaking up the rich gravies. Mutton Kosha The Mutton Kosha at Aminia is a highlight. The mutton is tender, cooked to perfection, and melts in your mouth. The thick, flavorful gravy is a perfect blend of spices, delivering a slightly spicy and rich taste that is not overpowering but full of depth. Paired with the tandoori roti, it’s a classic combination. Mutton Aminia Special The Mutton Aminia Special is another standout dish. The meat is succulent and well-marinated, cooked in a rich, flavorful gravy that has a unique blend of spices. The dish has a signature taste, making it a must-try for those who enjoy flavorful and well-cooked mutton. It’s hearty and satisfying, with a perfect balance of spice and flavor. Kesar Phirni For dessert, the Kesar Phirni offers a sweet and creamy finish. It’s rich, with a delicate saffron flavor that adds a hint of exotic warmth. The texture is smooth and velvety, making it a perfect ending to a flavorful meal. It’s not overly sweet, striking a nice balance that leaves you feeling refreshed. Overall, Aminia provides an excellent dining experience, and these dishes in particular shine for their authentic flavors and careful preparation.

*I wish I could give zero star! Worst!!* I visited here after 5 years, had a very good image of this brunch of Amina's authenticity, took my client for a lunch who was veg, but experience went awful. *Detailed, long review alert* 1.Just after visiting all the waiter behaved as if they could not see us, after 5 minutes one attended us, we wanted one veg biriyani and one non-veg. Being such a big brand they had no veg options even after having in their menu chart they informed we don't have veg, then waiter informed they can provide paneer curry.we took time to decide as if we should leave the place and go to nizam or arselan or have paneer with naan as we had veg biriyani and mutton biriyani in our mind. The waiter misbehaved when we asked him to wait He was like "lena h toh lo nei toh katlo" So we opted one paneer curry one butter naan and one mutton biriyani. 2.On arrival, the mutton biriyani had a mutton piece which won't be even 50-60 grams being a 250(adding tax) rs biriyani, and had a mini potato. It was filled with oil(not.masala) and biriyani looked awful. The naan was good but the panner curry was sweet and tasted vague. 3.Even after misbehaving we gave a tip to the waiter who looked sharp while picking up his tip as if it's a black money anyways, he looked happy.😁😂😄 4.We complained about the food to the waiter, he took us to the manager who's response was "people demand oily biriyani and our dry biryani is not preffered by customers anymore" and for the paneer they said it's taste is like that itself from the start and there was no sorry for spoiling our lunch, they said we will try to look into it but i dont think anyone is gonna look into it. After successfully wasting 500 rs of my hard earned money, I would like to recommend customers to visit any Aminia brunch expect this one, it just has the old atmosphere but has lost its taste authenticity, I tried to inform this to my contacts and they too informed that it's awful since the last 4-5 years. *Vegetarian people keep safe distance * *waiters kept stearing at us while clicking pics so could not click a clear image*

**Aminia Esplanade: A Disappointing Experience** I was looking forward to celebrating the Choturthi of Durga Puja with some delicious Mughlai cuisine at Aminia Esplanade, a two-storey restaurant that seemed spacious and inviting. However, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth after experiencing their poor food quality and service. I ordered five plates of Mutton Biryani (260 each) and two Rumali Roti, along with Aminia Special (chicken and mutton) each plate, for myself and my friends. The food arrived after a long wait, and we were eager to dig in. But our excitement soon turned into frustration when we realized how bad the food was. The Mutton Biryani was undercooked in one plate, and the rice was dry and bland. The Rumali Roti was overcooked and hard to tear. The Aminia Special was a disaster. The chicken was tasteless, the mutton was okay, but the gravy was horrible. It was oily, watery, and had a large tomato floating in it. There was also an egg inside, which had no flavor at all. The staff behavior was equally horrible. There was only one waiter who was roaming around and could not attend to all the tables. He did not take our order correctly, and brought us the wrong dish (we ordered chicken, but got mutton). He also did not refill our water glasses or clear our plates. To make matters worse, they did not accept UPI payments, only cash or card. The only positive thing I can say about Aminia Esplanade is that their pricing was decent according to the menu, and the portions were generous. But that does not make up for the terrible food and service that ruined our festive mood. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a good meal. It is a waste of money and time. My rating for Aminia Esplanade is: Food: 1/5 🤢 Ambience: 1/5 🥴 Staff behavior: 1/5 😡 Space: 3/5 ✅ Pricing: 4/5 💲✅ Overall: 2/5. ❌❌

After hearing a lot of this, i finally got a chance to test their food during my recent trip to kolkata. Location: this place is located behind hogg market(new market) area. This hotel is located in a old heritage building. Can be easily found. Environment: interior environment of Aminia is clean and nice. It looked really hygienic. Consists of A/c and non A/C halls with Spacious seating. Menu: Aminia's menu mainly consists non veg food like Biriyani,Kababs etc. A limited number of Veg options are also available. Food Quality: i heard praises of its Biriyani, so i order on portion of Mutton Biriyani and a quarter Irani chicken tandoori. But to my surprise, food was way below expected quality. Biriyani was bland with very strong clove flavour. To such an extremity, it was difficult to consume. Taste is not at all par with other famous Biriyani joints in kolkata. They dont even provide onion or other condiments with biriyani. You have to buy salads worth rupees 35 just to get few slices of cucumber, onion, lemon and chilies. Meat size in the biriyani was too small for the proportion of rice. Tandoori chicken was ok as i have already tasted better in kolkata. Worth of money: food is not at all worth its price. Maybe portion of rice was big but food is not all about size its about taste also. Finally, i am a disappointed with Aminia food. I wouldn’t try this restaurant again for sure with all other options available in kolkata.

Visited today..Staff behaviour not so good.. Entering in the restaurant I sat on the non AC arrangement. When the waiter came to me for the order n I ordered . After that he left my table and move beside my table for the next order. At that time I saw their AC compartment and immediately within hardly 20-25 seconds I asked the that same waiter should I move to the AC COMPARTMENT from here, the waiter denied and told me that u have ordered ur food so u can't move from here. Didn't expect this type of bad service from the restaurant. They forgot to give Mutton Awadhi which I ordered. After waiting for 10 mins I recall the waiter for the same item They told that they forgot theitem to give. Rather Little crowdy atmosphere..even customers are standing holding my chairs for next to sit while I m still eating. Accepts only Card payment n cash payment. No UPI payment system installed or accepted standing in 2024.🤐 Still when I give them My card to pay my bill, after two attempts their machine didn't work or the manager told network issue. Ultimately I had to pay my bill by cash. Harsh experience in bill payment system. @Ordered mutton biryani special. *Biriyani Rice content is not enough for two.3/5 *Both the Mutton pieces are good but it should be boiled for more time. 4/5 *One full sized alu and one half sized alu.2/5 *Overall biriyani rating with taste and others items.3/5 **Mutton Awadi is good. 4/5 Service 3/5
