BAR-B-Q on Park Street, Kolkata, is a culinary gem that offers a delightful fusion of Chinese and Indian cuisine, making it one of the must-try restaurants in the city. Located in the heart of Park Street, the restaurant has long been a favorite for both locals and tourists who crave a hearty, flavorful meal in an elegant yet welcoming ambiance. One of the first things that stand out about BAR-B-Q is the friendly and professional staff. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with warmth and courtesy. The wait staff is attentive without being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu is impressive. I had a few questions about the dishes, and they were more than happy to assist with recommendations, making the overall dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear that the restaurant prioritizes customer service and goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has a comfortable and pleasant experience. Now, coming to the food, I ordered the Garlic Chicken, Bar-B-Q Special Chow Mein, and Bar-B-Q Special Fried Rice. Each dish was a treat for the taste buds and left me wanting more. The Garlic Chicken was perfectly cooked, with tender, succulent pieces of chicken that were bathed in a flavorful garlic sauce. It had just the right balance of spice and sweetness, making it a great starter to kick off the meal. The Bar-B-Q Special Chow Mein was another highlight of the meal. It was loaded with generous portions of chicken, prawns, and egg, all tossed in perfectly stir-fried noodles. The dish was a burst of flavor in every bite, with each ingredient adding its own texture and taste. The prawns were fresh, the chicken was well-seasoned, and the eggs added an extra richness that brought the entire dish together. The Bar-B-Q Special Fried Rice, much like the chow mein, was packed with ingredients and flavor. It was a hearty portion, with large chunks of chicken, prawns, and egg. The rice was cooked to perfection—not too oily, but flavorful enough to stand on its own. The prawns were again a standout, adding a touch of luxury to the dish, while the chicken and egg provided a satisfying bite. What impressed me the most was the quantity; the portions were more than sufficient, making the meal great value for money. The ambiance of BAR-B-Q is both cozy and upscale, striking a balance that makes it suitable for family gatherings, casual dinners, or even special occasions. The restaurant is always buzzing with energy, but the service remains prompt and efficient, ensuring that you don’t have to wait too long for your food. In conclusion, BAR-B-Q on Park Street is a restaurant that truly stands out in terms of both food quality and service. The dishes I tried were all packed with flavor, and the portions were generous, making it a fulfilling dining experience. The staff’s friendly demeanor and professional service further enhanced the meal, making it a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Kolkata. Whether you’re a fan of Chinese or Indian cuisine, BAR-B-Q has something for everyone, and it’s undoubtedly one of the must-visit restaurants in Park Street.

The Indian-Chinese cuisine at this iconic Park Street restaurant ticks all our boxes as foodies! Flavours of China and Bar-B-Q each have their means of entry, dividing the noshery into two distinct regions based on the decor. One is red and minimal, and the other features Chinese calligraphy and art to represent the Chinese side of the luncheonette. We set foot in the Flavours of China and got amazed by the electrifying ambience. The hasher served the eats in a jiffy! This is what we ordered: Mixed Cantonese Noodles (₹310) Prawns in chilli oyster sauce (₹573) Garlic pepper chicken (₹355) Non-veg Cantonese Rice (₹320) and Fresh lime soda (₹90) Let's have a fresh look at the tuckers. Mixed Cantonese Noodles (₹310): Cantonese pan-fried noodles are popular in Hong Kong. They're crunchy, chewy, and full of smokey, yet savoury flavours. The stir-frying cooking method results in crisp rims and a chewy inside texture for these smoky-flavoured noodles. In a flavour-packed savoury sauce, it is rapidly stir-fried with crunchy veggies like green onion, chives, and mung bean sprouts. It was replete with Shiitake, Portobello and Button shrooms. Shrimps and chicken were also bounteous. What we enjoyed best was the sparing use of spices. Despite its enticing looks, it was light on the tum! Prawns in chilli oyster sauce (₹573): Crisp and juicy king prawns were done to turn in savoury oyster sauce. The tang and heat were just perfect. Prepared in an Asian style with perfect concoctions of ginger, garlic, pepper, and a wide selection of condiments! The flavours were bursting into the mouth to give a thrilling gastronomic experience! With the hot Cantonese noodles, it was a perfect side dish! Garlic pepper chicken (₹355): This quick stir fry features a dash of black pepper, soft and juicy chicken, beansprouts, spring onions/green onions, and a generous amount of garlic. The sauce is produced with common grocery store components such as chicken broth, cornstarch, Chinese cooking wine, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. One bowl contains eight super tasty boneless chicken pieces. It went well with the Cantonese Rice. Non-veg Cantonese Rice (₹320): It got a hint of classic Chinese Fried Rice. It was so well cooked that each grain of rice could be put asunder! Also had a golden look which is indicative of its superb seasoning! Replete with shredded chicken it was perfect to seduce the tastebuds! Fresh lime soda (₹90): We used this as a palate cleanser. It was truly refreshing. The Flavour of China is moderately pricey. But given the quality of the food, it's surely a bang for your buck! Strongly recommended. Pocket Pinch: ₹1800 (for three) Cuisine: Chinese Must try: Cantonese Noodles, Prawn in chilli oyster sauce. A fantastic experience of Chinese food in the heart of the city. In these area there are pretty good restaurants along with those also who have lost their identity with the time. But good to see that The Bar-B-Q has hold its reputation when many of them seems to be loosing it. The polite and gentle behaviour of the staffs are good. Gave ample amount of time order and were very much attentive to the tables. As soon as I finished the starter, one rushed to our table and changed the plate. Now coming to the food, we had: Fish Fingers: The best fish fingers I have had till date in the city. Primarily while ordering I thought the price is a little higher as it will have 6 pieces but later I came to know it will have 8 pieces and when it was served to our plate I was awestruck with size. It was thick and there was thin layer of coating and entirely filled with the fish. The fish was very fresh, tasted awesome with and without the mayo dip. (5/5) (Recommended) (Rs. 380/-) BBQ special Fried Rice: The portion of the rice was very good for 2. It was filled with chicken, egg, prawns, black mushroom (we took it without pork, if anyone wants they can add it) and other veggies. The rice was so light it didn't felt heavy after having it. The use of oil was very minimal in the entire bowl of rice. (5/5) (Recommended) (Rs. 260) Tsing Hoi Chicken: We took it as a side dish. It was sweet and sour in taste, not atall spicy. It also contains a good portion. Diced chicken along with bell pepper, onion, cashew and mushroom. The amount chicken and cashew were good. It went good with the rice, obviously depending our taste buds. The quantity was that good, that we have take half of the dish parcel as couldn't finish it. (4/5) (Rs. 355) Overall a good experience in a summary afternoon with soothing ambience, courteous staff and obviously good food. Fells good that an old eatery of the town holds it taste till date.

🍽️ Exploring Vintage Vibes at @barbq.calcutta Flavours of China, Park Street, Kolkata 🏮 Yet another gem nestled in the historic Park Street of Kolkata, BarBQ Flavours of China takes you on a culinary journey with its vintage charm and an impressive dining area that can rival the city's legendary Peter Cat and Mocambo. But be prepared for a wait, as this place is bustling with patrons, just like its iconic neighbors. 🥢 Specializing in Indo Chinese cuisine, BarBQ Flavours of China offers an ambiance that effortlessly blends vintage aesthetics with an oriental touch. It's a visual treat for those who appreciate the fusion of classic and contemporary decor. 🤷♂️ However, a point of contention lies in the service. On multiple visits, we couldn't help but notice the somewhat rude service. It's a hiccup that's hard to overlook. 🍲 Yet, when it comes to the food, BarBQ Flavours of China is a clear winner. From their delectable Prawn Tempura to the flavorful Kebab Platters, zesty Chilli Chicken, and mouthwatering dimsums like Cream Cheese and Water Chestnut, the culinary journey here is a delightful one. Each dish is a testament to their commitment to taste and quality. 🍽️ Here are our top recommendations: 1. Prawn Tempura: Crispy and succulent, a must-try for seafood lovers. 2. Veg Kebab Platter: A delightful mix of flavors and textures. 3. Spring Rolls: Crispy on the outside, bursting with flavors inside. 4. Dimsums: Whether it's the Cream Cheese or Water Chestnut, these are a treat for your taste buds. 5. Cola Float: A refreshing way to cap off your meal. In spite of the service lapses, the food at BarBQ Flavours of China shines brightly. It's a place where the flavors make up for any shortcomings in service. So, if you're looking for a vintage dining experience with a fusion of Indo Chinese flavors, this restaurant is worth a visit. Pocket Pinch: ₹2000 for 2

The last time I had stepped into a proper Park Street restaurant was almost a year before the Pandemic ; so it was with some yearning and nostalgia that we walked in on an early weekday evening . The immediate feeling one gets while walking in , is this place is mostly filled with the regulars , the ones making their twentieth visit and the like. Somehow , I had never been to Bar-B-Q and must say the place more or less lived up to the reputation I had heard of. One thing which stood out over everything else was the almost constant smiley face our waiter maintained all the time we were there . The Chicken Wonton Soup was one of the better ones I had in a long time ; the wontons maintaing a perfect texture while submerged in the chicken broth , infused with herbs . I guess soup lovers should try this out , when @ Bar-B-Q. The Red Pepper Fish , which uses Basa fish was decent enough . I belive it's quite popular among the regulars at this place . We had Chilli Chicken paired with Vegetable fried rice as the main course . This dish couldn't live up to the high standards of the starters and seemed have too much garlic in it. The Chilli Chicken was hot , but not to the extent what I have at home usually . I also feel some of the dishes can do with a little less salt , but that is obviously subject to ones taste . The quantity of both Fried Rice and Chilli Chicken can easily suffice for three and hence we got some portion of it parcelled. The place can't be called pocket friendly in my opinion ; but the prices compare well with the other eating places in the surroundings . If your heart is after Indian Style Chinese cuisine , you can surely walk in to this iconic place once in a while . For those hankering for Chinese style Chinese in Kolkata ; Tangra and Tiretti Bazaar can be more suitable options.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place. At evening the waiting time and crowd is usually long. You don't get much comfortable dining here due to crowd; ambiance is basic. Must be good in food, right? Let’s see... Soup ----------- Lung Fung Soup @ Rs.250 (3/5) They changed the definition of Lung Fung Soup, there was no foamy egg on top. It was just normal soup with lot of veggies and chicken chunks that tasted good but not authentic. Starters ---------------- Chilli Pork @ Rs.420 (1/5) Lat Me Kai @ Rs.410 (2/5) Pan Fried Chilli Fish @ Rs.455 (3/5) Chilli pork was disaster, one of the worst I've tried in Kolkata. Pork slices had a thin layer of coating, only the taste of soya sauce was present. Lot more capsicum and onion than meat. Lat Me Kai and Pan-Fried Fish was ordinary. Mains --------------- Tai Chin Chicken @ Rs.410 (4/5) Fish Mandarin Style @ Rs.455 (2/5) Mixed Meat Fried Rice @ Rs.295 (3/5) Mixed Meat Hakka Noodles @ Rs.295 (3/5) Fried rice was very mild, suitable for every kind of person. Portion size was good. Noodles were okay. Tai Chin Chicken was smoky and had lot of small chicken chunks. Fish was bogus and didn't had any distinct flavours rather than just soya sauce. Conclusion ------------------------- Well if you like the posh dining experience of Park Street area where suited waiters will take your orders, you've that rich circle to flaunt, then this is a good place for you. Otherwise, if you're looking for food quality then visit China Town, they serve thousand times better Chinese food than BBQ.
