Brief Intro = Kolkata boasts of Bengali food but very places are there where they serve you proper authentic Bengali cuisine and Bhoj Company is one of my go to places whenever I feel like enjoying some authentic Bengali food.
Location = New Market Area at Free School Street.
Ambiance/Decor = Calm, composed yet very much Bengali. They play soothing Rabindra Sangeet which are pleasing to the ears and the decor is attractive.
Service= The servers are very polite and very good with their suggestions. Full marks to hospitality.
Things Tried = I had few friends along side me, so we tried a few varieties from their Menu :
♛ MuchMuche Murgi = This is heavenly as starters, its chicken fried crisply and had kaffir lime(Gandho Lebu) flavour. Just perfect to begin your journey.
With steamed rice, we opted for
♛ Kochu Chingri = Prawns prepared in a curry of Kochu Shaak(Colocasia Escalanta), one of the age old recipes of Bengal was delightful to our taste buds.
♛ Murgi Shile Bata = I am an ardent fan of their murgi shile bata, which I have also tasted in their Dalhousie branch and it is something which you must have.
♛ Shorshe Ilish = A bengali is not a bengali unless he is fond of ilish, its the king of fishes and shorshe ilish is love.
♛ Chingri Malaikari = Since we decided to try out both chingri and ilish so as not to be biased amongst the Mohunbagan and East Bengal supporters 😀 Jokes apart the malaikari had soft but big prawn and the curry was really with malai ❤
♛ Mutton Dukbungalow = The origin of the dish is that when the Khansamas at the Dukbungalows had to prepare these for the travellers with little ingredients and hence the name. There are a very few places that serve proper mutton dukbungalow and I loved the Mutton Dukbungalow here, the mutton were really soft and cooked with perfection.
♛ Mishti Doi = We had a bhaanr of mishti doi to end the sumptuous meal.
Purse Check = I would suggest Rs.500-600/- would be enough for 2 person.
Overall = With impeccable service, tasty food at really reasonable rates and lovely ambiance, Bhoj company keeps making me go back for more. Cheers to Team...
Read moreDurga Puja for bengali has a different place all together in the heart of Bengali. Puja is not all about Pandel hopping but also having some exquisite food with loved onces. I dnt know for others but for me bengali cuisine comes first as the first choice during the festivities. And what other place than "The Bhoj Company" near New Market area. Now for this puja they have introduced a special thali consisting of the following items.
Bhetki Fish Fry ( highly recommended) Basmati Rice Shona Moong Dal Jhuri Aloo Bhaja Kochu Pata Chingri Bhapa Shorshe Ilish / Chitol Kalia Dum Pulao (recommended) Kossa Mangsho (Mutton / Chicken) Chaatni Papad Mishti Doi Rasmallai
This thali is priced at INR 1170+tax . Either you go for quantity (buffet) or you choose quality. And trust me on this , during puja very few restaurants stick to their quality and this is one such. So a must try for quality food.
And dnt worry you can try a few exquisite items from the ala carte menu as well just like we tried
Luchi with Aloor Dum: This dish is evergreen. Puja mornings never goes by without a taste of Luchi and aloor Dum. The gravy was too good.
Loitta Sheel-e-bata: I had tasted the chicken and the prawn version but first time tried this. Its superb rich in spices and masala. Goes nice with white rice.
Ilish Bharta: Even thought i am a huge Illish fan, i had never tried this item. Its a delight for all who cant have illish because of the bones. This boneless delicasy goes well with rice.
Bhetki Paturi: True Bhetki fish wrapped in banana leaf with a rich paste of mustard and chilli. This is one of the best dish of the house.
So overall an amazing experience , and one of the best restaurant in the market with good and...

Ambience:
I have visited the Dalhousie branch for a couple of times but I loved the decor of this place as well. If you looking for a classic bangladeshi cuisine food then this place serves the best dining experience. I received a warm hospitality from the staff services as well.
Food Review:
Rajdori Fry
I really loved this starter. I tasted it for the first time and predicted that the stuffing was done with chana and cheese making the fry awesome in taste.
Bhetki Maacher Kochuri Potal Bata Chutney diye
This is an another item which I would earnestly request everyone to give it a try. Never had an idea that potol chutney can taste so good and a kochuri can have the stuffing of Bhetki maach. I’m in love with this dish.
Daal, Alu Bhaja with Sada Bhaat
A bengali plate will be incomplete without the combination of the above and I ended up ordering the same. I totally astonished with the way that these simple things will taste so good.
4.Sil e bata Lote Maach
This is the best thing which happened to me that day. I literally ended up licking my fingers. They were able to made it perfectly.
5.Mutton Curry
This was may be the climax of my dinning experience at Bhoj Company. The mutton pieces were perfectly boiled and cooked in rich spices. The quantity and taste both are satisfactory.
6.Aam er Chutney
This was really good and tasted best when served with pappad. The taste of sour and sweet was quite balanced which made the dish extremely delicious.
