Avoid at all costs**
Me and a friend went by to try out this restaurant which had a special deal on lunch buffet. So when we entered the place was almost empty and we're seated by a staff member. We tried the soup and dosa first. Soup was literally tasting of msg and as though it's made from a packet (similar texture as well). Dosa counter unfortunately had only two options sada and masala whereas my friend was keen on trying Mysore masala. However the chef was kind enough to make cheese sada dosa for us. The sambhar really impressed me as it was quite close to proper South Indian sambhar. Dosa was average (being South Indian can easily recognise a good dosa) however despite saying we want proper cheese they still did kanjoosi and drizzled very less cheese. Then we tried pasta which was again average, only veg. Now by then we realised the place didn't have proper air conditioning as it wasn't only us but everyone around was sweating like crazy. My friend had huge beads of sweat on his forehead and the staff was still trying to convince us that sir conditioning was working as though something wrong with us. Then we changed our place which was not a great improvement but still better. Then we were served starters veg- corn cheese balls and dahi kebab (both tasted packaged not fresh) non veg Kung pao chicken was average more of chicken crispy with lots of corn flour and hardly any chicken and seekh kebab which was so dry and clearly stale and from a packet, tasted like cardboard.
Just imagine the place was so hot that all the mocktail were also warm and we ha to keep asking for ice again n again. From thereon it just got worse and worse. For some reason the ladies and gents washroom don't have locks on them. So you hav to do your business with door open. Then it started getting worse. I started feeling like puking and giddy and we had hardly eaten anything. I didn't tell my friend because I didn't want him to feel gross. I knew I wasn't that full as we had small portions but it was just soda or something odd put in the food that made me feel sick so immediately. I couldn't even see my friend eating but didn't tell him sick I felt. I browsed the items and realised most items looked stale or from previous days (yes days not day). The veggies and everything had an odd colour to them clearly wasn't fresh. Because I was one of the first few customer so they can't say it looks old because I came late. The mocktails were also big flop, all were warm and flat. The desserts clearly was old and dry. The kheer for some reason wasn't touched by anyone.
Later when I stepped out for my uber my friend confessed that even felt like puking and wanted to go home asap. He also felt sick to the stomach and it's similar feeling when I had stale food in past (something just wasn't right). Later once we reached home we realised we weren't full it was the food that made us sick. If u care for health and wellbeing avoid the place at all costs.Dont get fooled by the...
Read moreHad gone to Bkc with curiosity based on the previous reviews but unfortunately had a very bad experience, Below are just few of the observations out of the many actualy we faced 1). We entered the location approximately around 12.45 in the afternoon, at the entrance itself we were informed to vacate the place by or before 2.30pm ( Strange gesture of welcoming clients) 2) We entered the premise, settled ourselves, there was a medicore crowd, but there were enough staff to attend the customers, but still we had to wait around 15-20 mins to place our order ( Although we called the staff who were just standing idle in the corner multiple times, but still there was no response 3) Approximately after 15-20mins they took our order, then even after taking the order the dishes began to arrive after 15 mins ( we had ordered for buffet meal) 4) The 1st four starters arrived back to back and again after 10 mins there was no one attend us (although there was less crowd and they had staff in excess to attend the limited crowd they had, but still there was no service) 5) We had to ask for the welcome drink multiple times, it was almost 45 mins we entered, they had served the starters we were in the mid of our meals but still no one was getting the welcome drink ( probably they had messed up with the orders) 6) This may sound bit bias & complaining, but the staff was more engaged in providing repeat drinks to the girls rather than the other clients present over there ( including the other male clients and families which were present there, even they had to wait like us) 7) The service & quality of food was not upto the mark ( especially the service), Most of us even felt that the staff is purposely behaving like that, so that the people who had come for buffet can eat minimum and leave the place as soon as possible, although they had warned us in the beginning only to vacate the place by or before 2.30 pm ( Now i understood that we should have left the place from the entrance only, as it was already a warning sign 😂 8) Now after looking at the service, the food quality & the bias nature & probably everything of BKC Dine out, My respect for other Buffet restaurant and Dine out places like ( BBQ, Pop-Tates) etc have increased more. They are far more better in terms of food, quality & service ..........My Final Opinion................ If anyone is planning for a brunch, buffet or anything in BKC Dive in future .... I request those people to please walk a few steps more from the BKC Dive location & just beside there you will find the outlets of Poptates & BBQ both, where you will get food worth your value for money & excellent service. Thank you & sorry for...
Read moreI was there recently, catching up with a friend over lunch. He was flying in from Accra to Ahmedabad, and had a lay over in Mumbai. It's located at a convenient distance from Kurla suburban railway station and if you're driving there, there's enough parking space as well.
The place is well lit, has large windows and high ceilings which tricks your mind into thinking that the place is larger than it actually is - it is late nevertheless. The interior decor is quite suave and classy, the lighting is warm and welcoming. The music is quite pleasing as well - and really soft so that it doesn't disrupt conversations but does fill up the empty spaces in conversations to make things comfortable.
The servers are polite and we'll mannered and are familiar with the menu - they know how to suggest good dishes based on peoples' like and dislikes.
We ordered a karari rumali roti, a kalimiri chicken tikka, and an Achari chicken tikka to start off. The karari rumali roti was a delight to nibble on, especially with alcohol - although we couldn't order drinks since it was a dry day. The kalimiri chicken tikka and the Achari chicken tikka were both delicious - tender, soft, succulent, bite-sized pieces of chicken marinated and cooked in a tandoor! I loved the slightly spicy and sweet flavour of the kalimiri chicken tikka and the spicy and tangy flavour profiles of the Achari chicken tikka. I even loved the presentation - the tikkas were served on skewers hanging down from a metal frame, dripping juices on a bed of salad placed over a piece of roti - a sight for the sore eyes for sure!
For main course, we ordered a butter chicken with a couple of rotis and a mutton kheema khichdi. While the presentation of both the khichdi and the butter chicken was good, it was no match for the starters. The kheema khichdi looked very appealing but the butter chicken looked disastrous from the colour - but as they say - a book shouldn't be judged by its cover. Despite how it looked, the butter chicken tasted absolutely delightful - a perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavour profiles which tasted delicious with or without the roti. Even the kheema khichdi was delectable - although the meat seemed a tad bit stale - but it could also have seemed that because it sat on the table until we locked the butter chicken off our plates.
I'm sure this place is a huge hit during the evenings, because it seemed more like an evening place than a place for lunch. Then menu is pretty neat, and the pricing of both, the food and the alcohol is very moderate - especially, given the vicinity in...
