New Yorkers - a hangout for all kinds of crowd - college kids with a budget, people who want to drink solo, only gals group OR the conventional corporate crowd looking to wind off on weekends.
This top floor of New Yorkers was a pool table joint in the 90s where all Soboiite collegians may have definitely visited once.
Now it's transformed into a fine pub.
Honestly, South Mumbai lacks bars where girls from middle class families can attend with their friends, colleagues, acquaintances and relatives. Just like Janata bar in Bandra, Colaba's Gokul's top floor section has transformed itself into a drinking joint where girls can enjoy without a big hole in the pocket.
NY's Bar & Grill seems to be a relatively new such joint which could eventually be a hangout place for females to unwind themselves with the additional advantage of a much better ambience, DJ music, and, slightly better crowd due to its pricing as compared to the above two.
Here I have attached my bill when I visited with 2 female friends.
With four mocktails, 3 starters and a full pitcher of Budweiser Magnum (which is a premium beer - the only other option for pitcher being regular Budweiser), a total bill of 3693/- inclusive of taxes if gone Dutch is not at all an expensive proposition.
The location of Hughes Road which gives easy access to suburbs through both Rail and Road transport makes it a good option for people who travel this side and want to have a quick drink before going back home.
The food that I ordered, I found it relatively good but definitely priceley considering the quality (unlike most fine dines which have similar food pricing but are definitely worth the price since the owners spend that much on their kitchen staff hence fine dine)
But one cannot complain considering the exhaustive drinks menu plus the great ambience.
For a group of guys n gals this is worthy enough to spend 3-4 hours or even for stags to relax and...

Café New York situated in the very heart of Mumbai was established in 1913 as an Irani Restaurant, at those times the specialties were Kheema Samosa, Mawa Cake, Khari Biscuit with Irani chai & Kheemapav being all-time favorite, it was a restaurant that was more than a place that served a great food.
They strongly believe in 'A True Passion to Serve' But a mission statement is worthless if it's not supported by action, which gradually made them introduce a Beer Bar and Later with Permit Room as they moved with the Time and Demands. As today they continue to prosper the overall decor of Café New York has evolved over the years. Once a Roadhouse look, now a much softer, cleaner, more contemporary with a graze of a multi cuisine Restaurant at Lower Level.
Their latest locations NY BAR & GRILL on Upper Level feature generous wood booths, the walls offer rich wood finishes, natural stone and exposed brick topped with our signature nostalgic signage and conversational photo frames. A host of large High Definition Flat screen TV's, jumbo Projector, rich earth tone colors and a Live DJ with great music round out the theme. The image is a reflection of today's consumer needs and the change in current styles. Call it a Pub, Fine dine, or a Sports Bar, It's a Fusion with all the Management & Mission being the same 'to serve'.
They invite you to soak in the vibrant spirit of Mumbai with the best in local cuisine and dishes from around the world, time to be pampered with their hospitality &...
Read moreThere's two parts to this place - a fun bar/resturant that looks authentically New Yorkan upstairs with lots of TVs w/ sports on, great R&B music, a full bar, and menu full of meat items. Then there's a more casual downstairs that serves local cuisine plus a few international dishes.
The food is hit or miss. We ordered the lamb chops and they were delicious.
We also ordered their most expensive steak, cooked medium, that was shown to be like a thick and juicy picture next to it on the menu, and then the pic was verified by the waiter to be the menu item. Instead, we got a thin, grey, cooked piece of leather. It was so overcooked (like well, well done), it tasted horrible and we had to just send it back. It also took over 45 min for them to bring it out and the upstairs section was nearly empty. To anyone thinking that 'medium' might mean 'well done' here, I'll point out that I actually said the word & phrase 'pink', 'all pink inside '. Then it came out grey. BIG swing and a miss.
Visitors beware.
Their mojitos are good, other food ok, and service also ok. Definitely seemed more like a place to come party and drink, and not so much a place to come when you wanna eat good - definitely not a place to come when you...
