Hotel Imperial Palace — Restaurant in Mumbai

According to location, the hotel is cheap and I mean cheap in both ways. Keep it as one of the last options for you. You can negotiate on the basis of your days of stay. In case you choose, dont go for room no. 102. They have a separate bathroom for 102 (they say so) but the whole staff uses it without bothering to ask you. Let me divide the review into parts: LOCATION (1 🌟 for that) It has a nice corner place in south Bombay area from where CST station is just a few steps towards left and on the right, the commissioner's office is just by the end of the road. Also, reaching Colaba, Gateway of India or Marine Drive is not a problem (unless it's one of those famous marathon days of the year). CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT CAUTION! If you hold a foreign citizenship, please make sure you get yourself registered properly and invoice on your own name. They are lazy and avoid the paper work of foreign guests. Also, take everything in writing about number of days of stay and people staying with you, right before check-in. These guys try to goof up and present wrong details at the time of billing. It would be great if you ask for the manager. Well, they don't have a manager, however, a person with higher authority and intelligence with assist you. Atleast it will save you from more people pointing towards your mistakes of coming to this hotel. ROOM (A half 🌟 here) The room looked quite clean, ventilated, had comfortable beds and space for 4 as per our need. Downside, the wall paint was coming off, the window had termite holes and the door knob was broken from outside. HOSPITALITY (another half 🌟 for room service) The room service is fast. We didn't need to wait for long for anything. We kept them happy with regular tips in return. The Indian tea they prepare is good. Don't expect too much of hospitality as some of would not give your proper reagards. For them, you are just another person staying for a short period of time there. IN CASE OF MISHAPS OR CLASH WITH HOTEL STAFF Warning them about going to police will not affect them. They will handover the business card of hotel and challenge you to go. The so called manager challenged us and said, the owner has 18 more hotels and lot of approach in police department...

NEVER EVER THINK OF BOOKING WORST EVER EXPERIENCE NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILY & KIDS DON'T LET ANYONE PERSUADE YOU TO BOOK HERE. I MADE THE MISTAKE PLEASE YOU DON'T MAKE IT!!

DETAILED EXPERIENCE

The worst ever reception I've seen yet. There's no place to sit in the reception, no fans leave air conditioning. The moment you enter the building stinky fishy smell is there moreover the whole building just looks like bhoot bangla from outside. First impression is 🤒😷. Then we went on to show our booking and get the rooms. The best part is they don't have the rooms ready yet whereas their checkin time is 9am and we reached at 3:15 pm.

We had 2 rooms booked for 7+1 people. 1 room is super deluxe triple bed and the other one is super deluxe quadruple bed. Now here they gave us the triple bedded room but they don't have the other room ready. Instead they went on to say that we will give you 2 double bedded deluxe room which were very small and stinky. In the meantime we were in verbal argument with the reception guys, who were clearly very bad in behavior. Later on I had to call the cleartrip guys and then got the rooms we paid for. It doesn't ends up here. When they gave us our rooms they rooms weren't ready to take and someone was there in the room before we it was showed to us. The whole room was filled of cigarette smoke. At the evening time mom inquired about something from one of the employe. And he started misbehaving like anything. He was talking in very harsh tone and using rude words with maa, that's all cuz they had to carry our luggages to our rooms because this hotel doesn't have any Lift system. This is just our experience from the first day. The booking site will tell you that breakfast is but please don't even think about it. One of the guy sits in one corner with a loaf of bread and butter and that's your breakfast. And i won't even go into describing the room's condition. Just know this that you'll have bite marks the next morning you wake up here BED BUGS ARE THERE. Do yourself a favour and please don't book here.

Poor quality hostel, at a hotel price. Not recommended.

Stinky moldy dirty room, no amenities, cannot accept international credit cards, good location.

The room was very air tight, with no windows, which was likely responsible for mold on ceiling and pillows, as well as overpowering scent of urinal cakes used to mask the scent of sewage coming from drains that were unprotected by u-bends.

It was also very dirty, with a wet and dirty towel hanging in the shower and a toilet seat splattered with urine. There were small metal parts, construction materials, and dirt within the closet.

Tankless water heater could not handle the shower, alternating from cold shower to scalding hot. No soap, no shampoo, no toilet paper, no room safe, no fridge, one towel, tiny room, complimentary breakfast of buttered toast, erratic WiFi not good for streaming video.

The staff could not swipe my American Visa card. Fortunately, my Mumbai host came to the rescue by paying for my hotel room.

I write this from a normal hotel a 5 minute walk away, which has normal hotel amenities (and breathable air!) for a similar price....
