Khar Social — Restaurant in Mumbai

So when you visit any prime dining establishment....especially one as famous as "Social", you expect them...at the very least...to take care of the quality of food and drinks. Correct ?

Unfortunately,  that wasn't the case during my visit today (23rd April).

STRIKE 1 : Ordered a "Lemon - Dou" .... a "Breezer" kinda drink...was given that. Unfortunately,  after consuming it...realised (by chance) that I was served a drink that had expired 3 days back !

STRIKE 2 : Ordered the "Thai Thali" and explicitly told Ms. Shagufta that I'm allergic to prawns and hence, the prawn-crackers should be replaced by regular "pappadams".

After much time , the food arrived....only for me to discover that it had prawn pickle...despite me being clear at the outset about my issues with prawns earlier.

STRIKE 3 : Cherry on the cake - They had also served me prawn crackers, despite my warning.

The "defence" ? Apparently somebody else's food order was served to me ! Seriously ???

Now I'm a fairly generous & understanding guy...but you know the saying - 3 Strikes, then Out !

But for my own vigilance,  the staff wouldn't have realised that they are storing expired drinks and serving it to customers...as also, serving food that is not as per their requirements.

What amazes me more was that there was hardly any crowd....so the staff led by Mr. Pritish could have easily been more careful while serving....about the quality and content of the orders.

To be fair, the staff replaced my meal with one that suited me and didn't charge me for the drinks as well as the food. I insisted on paying for the food , but they declined.

They also removed all the canned drinks , to ensure that other customers don't face what I experienced...in terms of being served drinks beyond their expiry dates.

However,  I left thoroughly disappointed...and feeling highly unwelcome.

C'mon "Social" .... since when did you become so careless, unprofessional and casual ? Too complacent as a result of resting on past laurels ? 😏

Located on 5th road khar west, right in in the heart of suburban Mumbai, khar social is a classy bar & casual dinning restaurant plating up delicious food n serving mind blowing beverages.

It is the perfect party place to hang out with ur friends or colleagues. It's open till late night so u can dance all you want here. This place gets pretty crowded after 10 pm so it's perfect for nightlife.

The ambience is just perfect. Fully stocked bar, indoor n outdoor seating, spiral staircase leading to the 1st floor, modern decor, party crowd, Kingfisher pint decorated Christmas tree, good vibes and much more is what u can expect here.

Service here is great. Even though it was crowded service was quick. Mr Shailesh attended to us that evening. He was just awesome as he made some good recommendations n also offered us free shots since we waited there for quite some time.

Coming to the alcohol, we tired a few cocktails Trip on the drip (this was vodka based mixed with orange n cranberry juice) The lantern (Ballentines with smoked orange) The Longest LIIT (the classic liit) Deva Daaru (Free shots which was basically gin bitters n cranberry juice)

All these were amazing. Presentation was outstanding literally. Must try the cocktails here.

On to the food, we had their Death wings (I wish it could have been a little more spicy, still it was crazy good) Hara chicken chilli (Indian still chicken chili. Honestly they did it better than the Chinese) The Sausage Fest (Mix of chicken n pork sausages with mash potatoes n gravy)

Really liked the food here. Also the selection of food n beverage added to their menu seems like a really good combination. Can't wait to try the hearty breakfast here

Overall great experience. Would definitely recommend n surely...

After visiting colaba social outlet in town couple of times, I visited khar social in western suburbs of Mumbai on a weekend. Its a two-storeyed space borrows from low-income housing units and the concept of 'jugaad', and everything you'll find here is 100 per cent recycled. Expect table-tops made of junked timber-frame doors and lights that have been sourced from doctors' rooms.It also have outside open space area and a cool smoking zone on the top floor. As compared to other socials in Mumbai it is more spacious and have very efficient service. We visited this place on Saturday and were lucky enough to find some place to sit on the 2nd floor. Atmosphere of this place is very lively with amazing music , good crowd, innovative ambience with brilliant food/drinks presentation. We had ordered fully loaded French fries my all time favourite with beer which was full of cheese and very tempting. Classic sangria - white wine & diced apples was smoothing. Cosmo explosion was presented wonderfully with candy floss with combination of vodka , cranberry juice , lemon zest but was way too sweet. For beer lovers it has lot of Indian,imported and craft beer options available. I was disappointed when we ordered for tuborg pint and they said they don't have it but was there in the menu. I don't understand why they keep things in their menu when they cannot serve it. Food was good and more importantly very creative. I loved the Hot Tennessee chicken wings with onion rings it was awesome! Overall this place is very animated with lots of foreigners around and by end of the night it was totally packed up. The street outside social and hoppipola was happening.A great place to socialise offline with your Friends...
