A model of excellence for all the restaurants in the neighborhood, 'Yeti - The Himalayan Kitchen' is the apotheosis of Nepalese and Tibetan cuisines. Attributable to a fine roof top decor, excellent customer service and authenticity, it is among the first-rate diners in the area. The roof top ambience features a plethora of saplings which gives a native Himalayan feel to it. The dining area is well set with comfortable seating and a magnificent bar.
Starting off with the customer service, tremendous job by the staff! The staff members are extremely genial and benevolent. Our table was hosted by Mr. Shyamal who made this dining experience noteworthy. The service is excellent with the average order time per dish being fifteen minutes.
The menu prides itself with a spread of enchanting treats from Nepalese, Tibetan and Asian cuisines. It is very elaborate with fragments of appetizers, mains and beverages that are reasonably priced. A meal for two won't drill a hole in your pocket. Also, the portion sizes are quite good.
'Pork Lemon Fried' Loaded with a wide spectrum of flavours, this is one of the go to dishes in the menu. The tidbits of pork are somewhat chewy and crispy and rich in all culinary aspects which makes them irresistible and rightfully, one of the 'Chefs specials'. They serve it with a side of a spicy dip which blends really well with pork chunks. The portion size is very generous and it's the perfect bar nibble to begin with.
'Mutton Momos' Right out of the steamer, these delicious mutton momos are a complete package of a gastronomic bliss. They're stuffed with a scrumptious preparation of ground mutton and served with three kinds of traditional dips which taste quite nice. The portion size is pretty good, with six momos in a serving.
'Thakali Thali' A round platter of ethnic delights, this exquisite thali is served in veg and non veg options. It has the perfect miscellany of delectable regional delicacies on a single platter. We ordered a non veg thali which has Dal, Gundruk Sadeko, Rai ko Saag, Piro Aloo, Vegetables Achaar, Papad, curd, Chicken in gravy and rice.
We also ordered 'Buff Chow Chow', which is stired fried noodles with vegetables and snippets of beef. A popular Indochinese dish in the menu, it is highly recommended by the staff members. The quantity is pretty good, it's pretty filling and enough for two people with a decent appetite.
'Yomari' With a stuffing of jaggery and sesame, it's a culinary masterpiece from Newar that melds flavour and tradition together marvelously. The 'Yomari' served here is not exactly the Newari Delish, but a variant with nutella filling in it. It tastes like heaven, the oddles of nutella stuffed is a succulent treat to the taste palate. The portion size is absolutely lovely with five pieces per plate. Comparing the root dish with it's variant seems unjustified, but full marks for innovation.
Drinks The bar menu encompasses a series of cocktails with different liquor bases. We ordered "Old Fashioned" : A blend of Jim beam Old fashioned with a twist of sweetened ginger and star anise syrup. It's a pretty good drink in terms of flavour and alcohol strength. "Purple Haze" : A popular and highly recommended drink from the 'Bongtail' section, it's a combination of five spirits with Cranberry and guava juice. As the name suggests, it is served in a percolator bong. An amazing drink owing to it's flavour and alcohol strength. We also had "Rhoade island Ice tea" from the signature cocktails section and "Caipiroska".

Read moreThis entire Month I have been on an experimental spree in terms of food from authentic Asian cuisines to mesmerizing Kashmiri food I had it all. On my recent visit to Khar, came across this Rooftop restaurant. Cheerful vibrant seating with cool music in the background this place was like an add-on to my crazy food experimentations. Yeti is famous for its Himalayan cuisine comprising of Nepali food, Tibetan Food, Burmese Food and almost all the kinds found on the snow-clad peaks. Their Menu is short and sweet yet touches the wide variety of the peaks. Overall this is our take on @Yeti:
Ambience: 5/5 Service:4/5 Food: 5/5 Creativity: 5/5
Food we ordered:
Chicken Thukpa: We started with the famous Tibetian noodle soup as I wanted to try this since long. In Monsoon this is the best comforting soup to keep all the sickness at bay. It’s a clear water yet rich noodle soup with all the flavours of chicken and veggies seeped in the broth. Really light on stomach yet spicy and flavourful.
Chicken Dry Fry: For starters we went for this dry Chinese style chicken starter. Medium sized chicken pieces wok tossed in spicy Chinese style sauce along with some onions & peanuts. It was good.
Macha Tareko: Next we tried the famous Nepali Fish fry dish. Fish richly marinated with spicy coating and deep fried in mustard oil. Though the fish was good it need some dips and they helped with not 1 but 3 kinda dips. Sesame dip, Chilli dip & a garlic dip. These complemented really well with the fish.
Jhol Momo: This was a dumpling soup kinda preparation with minced chicken and herb stuffed dumplings in thick rich coconut based gravy full of veggies. The entire preparation went really well..
Tshoem: This is spicy buttery Bhutanese preparation traditionally made of beef. But here they have options of chicken. The gravy was very creamy unlike the traditional dish, it did have a mild spice but the cream overpowers all the spice. Also you can see layer of butter on top so that’s definitely buttery as they say. It is served with Tingmo, a traditional Tibetan steamed bun.
Cocktails: We tried the Emraild Jim which was a concoction of Jim Beam as base with mixer as Pepsi served in bong. Rhode Island Ice Tea, was another concoction based on LIITs. The Bahama Mama is a strong coffee based dose to lift you up while Purple Haze is another good glass of spirit.
Overall I feel they have really named it wisely. It is indeed an Himalayan Kitchen speciallising in foods from the peak. Truly loved all the flavours and how well thye have put it all together. Planning to visit again...

Bhutanese Dish: - Kewa Datchi
Thakali Thali
Located in khar west on 6th floor open terrace with amazing ambience and cool breeze. Yeti is a part of raasta,Bombay which recently started with amazing Himalayan cuisine.
Started my thirsty Thursday with virgin mojito – as we all know, a perfect blend of mint and lemon flavour’s with refreshing mix.
Raasta special is a tri color drink. In other words, 3 flavoured drink served chilled accompanying your meal. A must try.
Jhol Momo is exactly how it sounds. I had a research about types of momo’s and amongst the 12 this is one new momo down my list. Reading about this, “Jhol basically means liquid or having a liquid like consistency. Jhol momo’s are drowned in a bowl full of gravy /sauce called jhol achar” The gravy had hot, spicy and a tangy taste mixed with chopped veggies. Loved the texture of the gravy with perfectly cooked momo’s dipped, is one of the best momo place on my list now on.
Wai Wai Sadeko is a nepali snack. Dry noodles mixed in different spices with freshly chopped onions and tomatoes, green chillies topped with lemon. The taste was similar to eating chat. Innovative plate I must say!
Btw, Tastes great with beer 😉.
Kewa Datchi is one of the famous bhutanese dish meaning (kewa) potato & (datchi) cheese.
Doesn’t that sound interesting?
Served with thick gravy made in cheese mixed with some capsicums served along with tingmo formally known as soft freshly baked bread. Dipping every bite of tingmo soaked with cheezzzyyyyyy gravy was delicious. Top notch!!! Definitely order this on visit!!
Thakali thali – the authentic taste of Himalayas. Had never tasted thakali thali before. Thumbs up to yeti for creating such amazing taste. All the flavours in the plate were so great. The presentation plays a great role serving such cuisines. Paneer gravy with yummiest black urad dal, gundruk sadeko formally known as fermented spinach, rai ko saag which is mustard greens with peero aloo, rice, achaar, papad and curd.
Just not enough for this lovely place. Had the best time lunching. Yeti has been a great place in terms of food offcourse, ambience and most importantly service. Creating and serving such cuisines of different culture is so grateful. Yeti has made it possible. An amazing Himalayan cuisine with variety of dishes served with great taste of mocktails.
