This is a hidden gem in the crowded streets of Dadar. It is opposite to Plaza cinema. The ambience and décor is simple. It is fully air conditioned restaurant. The staff is attentive and friendly. The service is quick; it is famous for its Maharashtrian food. What we order here
Modak: It is a Maharashtrian delicacy; it is a sweet offer to Lord Ganesha. The modak was served hot with pure ghee it is amazing each bite remains me of my grandmother who used to make lovely modak.
Kothimbir vadi: it is delicious snack made of coriander and chana dal. It was crispy outside and soft inside, it was appetizing snacks.
Bhajni Vade it was Maharashtrian snack made of bhajni flour and roll into puri and fried. It is served hot with mirchi pickle. It was crunchy and tasty.
Lunch thali It has option of puri or chapati, one usal ( pulses vegetable) and dry vegetable dal and rice with pickle and salad and sweet it can be sheera or gulab jam. The thali was flavour and satisfying. It is sufficient for one person with moderate appetite to finish the entire thali.
Gulab jam: It is all time favourite of my nephew he relishes it. It is served hot; it is soft and melts in mouth.
Cheese pizza: My nephew likes pizza. It was baked to the perfection and cheese was spread evenly on the pizza. It was nice, will try vegetable pizza next time.
Vegetable Kolhapur it was good combination of vegetables like cauliflower, peas and carrot cooked with perfected spices, it was first time I liked veg Kolhapur as it was not very spicy. do try mangola that's trupti is superb
Will visit again to try their chaats and other Maharashtrian snacks. super food...
Read moreThis place serves excellent delectable maharashtrian food at very reasonable rates.. Craving for authentic maharashtrian food made me travel out here at Dadar where u find plenty of places that serves good authentic maharashtrian food n this is one of them.. We were here on Sunday eve n expectedly this place was pack.. Had to wait 45 mins before we could relish food out here.. Ambiance is basic out here n seatings are decent.. We started with batata wada n it was served very hot n was very delicious n had very authentic taste to it.. We then had kothimbir wadi n it was absolutely amazing.. Best was thalipith we had out here which was absolutely authentic in taste n I loved every bite of it.. We also had Misal pav out here which was good but I felt it was bit less spicy then it should have been.. We also thought to try South Indian out here so we ordered butter sada dosa out here.. Batter was good n this one tasted nice but chutney n sambhar served were not at all good.. We also had lime juice n lemon ginger out here n both of them were refreshing n went well with maharashtrian cuisine.. Service was good n very quick.. Rates wise its very reasonable n its total value for money place.. Only hitch here is like if u are not in multiply of four people u may have to share table with others in case of rush specially on weekends .. There are only two table that has couple seatings.. Anyway i will surely recommend this place for people who wants to try authentic maharashtrian food
My recommendations - Batata wada, kothimbir wadi, thalipith,...
Read moreTrupti is another outlet that I am watching since childhood that is serving the cause of Maharashtrian tradition just like few others in the neighborhood.
Tasty, mouthwatering Maharashtrian preparations is their domain. The unmistakable Misal, the underrated Batata Wada ( by the non Maharashtrian, as they mistakenly take wada pav as the native Batata Wada without acknowledging the salient difference between each preparation) Kothimbir vadi, Patal Bhaji- Puri, there are enumerable delicacies & combinations that one can just feast upon.
Space is at a terrible premium at Trupti & as a result one always finds a small riot around the lunch hour mark & thereon & a long waiting line often, such is the extent of their popularity, it goes without saying they have parked themselves at the most bustling, busiest place in town, Plaza, Dadar.
But everyone is treated equally & accommodated fairly & the process of feeding the hungry Janata continues.
Full five stars.....
