A Gastronomic Delight at Gomantak Seafood Restaurant
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gomantak Seafood Restaurant, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. Located in Dadar, this restaurant specializes in Konkani/Gomantak cuisine, particularly seafood, and it exceeded all my expectations.
The ambiance of Gomantak Seafood Restaurant is warm and inviting. The décor is tastefully done, reflecting the coastal theme and creating a relaxed and comfortable dining atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent service throughout my dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food! The highlight of Gomantak Seafood Restaurant is undoubtedly its delectable seafood dishes. Each dish showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients used. From succulent prawns to flavorful fish curries, every bite was a burst of flavor that transported me to the coastal paradise of Goa.
The menu offered a wide variety of seafood options, allowing diners to explore different flavors and preparations. The fish thali, in particular, was a standout. It featured a delightful assortment of fish curry, fried fish, sol kadhi (a refreshing coconut-based drink), rice, and assorted accompaniments. It was a complete meal that left me fully satisfied and craving for more.
The flavors at Gomantak Seafood Restaurant were authentic and perfectly balanced. The use of traditional Gomantak spices and cooking techniques truly elevated the dishes. The menu also caters to different preferences, offering vegetarian options and non-seafood dishes for those who prefer other culinary delights.
The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food served. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh ingredients and delivering exceptional flavors made it worth every penny.
Overall, my experience at Gomantak Seafood Restaurant was outstanding. From the warm hospitality to the mouthwatering seafood dishes, every aspect of my visit was exceptional. Read moreI have visited this place several times earlier. However, the quality of service at this place these days is going from bad to worse and I'm confident will eventually soon go into trash if they don't mend their ways.
Let me give you a crisp synopsis of what happened. Almost a month earlier when I visited this place I had ordered a mutton Thali. The mutton, it's gravy were stale and chewy which we realized in the first bite itself. On bringing this to the staffs notice they even refused to acknowledge that it is stale. On making them taste the meat and the gravy they realized the truth and changed the Thali half heartedly. The chicken dishes that were ordered were OK.
Fast forward today. I was placing my order and requested the staff to be careful with my order and explained them the last scenario politely. The staff was so rude that he started schooling me for even placing such a request. To top it all he very rudely even told me and I quote "Atey hi complain karna shuru kiya, Khana hai toh khao varna kuch aur order karo..yeh Sab mat bolo".
When I schooled him back for ill treating the customers the staff blatantly started lying that I just said there was no meat in the restuarant.
While all this ruckus was going on the owner was right there but had zero, absolutely zero audacity to even come or send his manager to address the issue. Meanwhile, the staff forgot about his lie and brought my mutton thali about which he lied just a couple of seconds earlier.
I'm highly disappointed with this place. There are better places in Dadar which are worth a visit. I will never visit or recommend this place ever again.
I would like to award this restuarant...
Read moreVisit here for meals. Do not come here and pretend to expect that they'd cook you Pav Bhaji; or Cheese Manchurian Dosa. Do not pretend to be shocked to discover that they have scant vegetarian alternatives. Don't come here and search vainly for a booze and peanuts menu. Visit here only, and only for meals.
The establishment is non-vegetarian and does not apologise for being so. It specialises in deliciously cooked seafood in a variety of different ways. The recipes are firmly Maharashtrian-Gomantak. Organic ingredients used are absolutely fresh. There are certain best practices in operation here; for example, this restaurant does not serve leftover food slathered with masala to camouflage staleness. Consequently, when eating fish or meat or whatever else, you will have only the best and the freshest possible; cooked without intent of killing you with spices. I've eaten off vastly different cuisines in many fine dining restaurants where a meal for a family can cost as much as a family car. But those places are not worth it. In my opinion then, the finest foods are to be had in restaurants such as this one, the Gomantak Boarding House; a restaurant that serves only the best in the simplest possible and most traditional manner; and makes your experience special. And no, this restaurant is not so expensive. A Prawn Thali here is Rs. 300/-; and worth every paise that you pay.
Be advised that the service may be just a wee bit slow during rush hour. But the waiter takes the trouble of guiding you through the menu should you be at a loss.
Eat, eat and eat here and be merry. If you can't live without drinking, ask for...
