Klap is the brainchild of Chef Gurmehar Sethi and Navdeep Singh Sethi. Its fairly new in town and is nestled in the bylanes of Khan Market. The moment you enter Klap it's all about sophistication from the ambience to the food and hospitality. Visited this place for lunch and was totally blown away by the presentation and the taste of the food.. There was so much detail in every dish that showstoppers the labour of love and hard work of the Chef and its team. The gastronomical menu is multi cuisine and you get flavours from around the world whether it's Italian ,French, Indian ,Thai, Mexican ,Japanese ,Korean , Indonesian you get it all under one roof. Below are some of my highly recommended dishes that I tried from the vegetarian cuisine. The liquor licence is awaited so we started with the mocktail, called Fauxtail on their menu card. The Art of Aksa was a combination of fruits with tropical spices in it. The Tom kha soup shots were cute and bursting with Thai flavour. The humble shakarkandi is so beautifully elevated . Tossed in a Red dragon fruit chutney and served on a bed of fried noodles ,it is a treat not only to the eyes but the taste buds too. The Edamame stuffed Paniyarams with the trio chutneys gave me a reminder of the Indian flag . A great twist to the regular ones. Next we tried was the Mushroom pepper fry with appams. The wafer thin appams paired with the spicy coastal masala Mushroom were the perfect combination. If there is one thing you shouldn't miss here is the Brown rice and the Avocado Sushi. Fried brown rice topped with avocado and a mint Salsa was delectable. But even more interesting was the presentation of it. It was served on a block of ice embedded with some greens and flowers almost looking like a garden. Absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. Wanna go cheezy ... The Artichoke Flat bread is what you should be ordering. Flat and as crisp as it can be , topped with melting cheese and it will take you to gastronomical heaven. No counting calories on this one please . The Krapow Donburi was a fragrant bowl of goodness .Rice ,soya and add ons mixed together and served with a star anise sauce was all I would want in a bowl full of comfort food . Last but not the least . The in-house Coconut jaggery icecream soft in a chocolate shell and topped with caramelized moong dal was a great dessert to end the meal . Super hospitable staff with a beautiful dining experience is what I had at Klap. Lots of Klaps for Klap. Do visit and experience it for yourself. You...
Read moreI spent 2 hours here with my friend going through most sections of the menu and it was great experience! Not everything clicked with us but it was well worth it!
The Good: The Hoisin Duck Bao has chewy, glazed duck strips in the bao buns and it was a great dish. The Soft-Shell Crab sushi roll was delectable with the sweet sticky rice making a great counterpoint to the crunchy crab flavour. The Yellowtail Nigiri is great but the taste is quite subtle. Our main course was a Slow Cooked Lamb Chop which is absolutely brilliant. We ordered medium and the meat was the succulent and the melt-in-the-mouth variety. The Mango Passionfruit smoothie was a great addition to the meal. Would recommend any of these dishes. We ended the meal with a KLAP egg tray and it is a must try. The initial feel is sweet which transforms into the coconut flavour while simultaneously introducing the cold core of the dessert. Very well done.
The Average: The Calamari Bhel' indian chutney overpowered the flavour of the fried calamari. It just provided the crunch. We tried the Prawn & Bamboo Shoot and Crispy Bacon dimsums. They were well made but nowhere as good as expected. Still prefer dimsums from Viet Nom. The Crispy Bacon dimsum is just an unimaginative concotion of prawn simply wrapped in a bacon strip.
The Not So Good: We tried the Signature cocktails Ibin Batuta and Odorizia and both did not live up to the hype or the expected flavours. I have no clue if this was supposed to be a deconstructed cocktail but the alcohol flavour was paramount and none of the other flavours mixed. The Ibin Batuta had a bare hint of coffee while the Odorizia' overpowering vermouth flavour completely turned me off. Stick to the classic cocktails here. The Mojiko was also...
