Our search for new restaurant in the new year made us reach Mughlai junction. The name looked promising and so to savour the same we agreed to have lunch at this restaurant.
Ambience:
The ambience was good and the place was neat and clean. It was decorated with balloons as we had gone to the place next day to New Year's Eve.
Staff was decent.
Food:
So we were fascinated with the name "Mughlai Junction"--"the authentic Mughlai Restaurant" as the tag line read and so Non Veg and Veg both were ordered.
The waiter brought a side tray which had divisions. It contained green chutney, lemons, green chilies and onion which was slightly salted with mild masala.
First, we ordered chicken seekh kababs. Now the food took quite a while and thereafter, a well decorated plate of Chicken seekh kabab with salad dressing was brought to the table. It was beautifully presented but the taste was okay. There was nothing Mughlai about it.
Then came the mutton kababs, which tasted more of sheep kababs than mutton. It was certainly not tasting mutton in all it's possiblity. Though the presentation was good, both the above stated dishes were disappointing and gave a bad stomach the next day.
On the advice of the staff present, after being disappointed by the non veg we went ahead for veg. Now in the paneer section, the staff said Paneer Makhni was good and can be ordered. So we ordered the same and it was not that disappointing as the above two dishes. The serving of Paneer Makhni was just fine.
Breads:
In breads, Tandoori Roti without butter and Butter Naan was ordered and they were fine in taste.
Desserts:
For the people with sweet tooth like myself we ordered Gulab Jamun and Ras Milai. And it was served in beautiful bowl and tasted good. Gulab Jamun was served hot and Ras milai had good share of Ras in the bowl. The sweets seemed fresh and tasted good.
Verdict:
PROS:
✓Good ambience. ✓Decent staff. ✓Good presentation of food. ✓Neat and clean place. ✓Good desserts option ✓Restrooms ✓Vegetarian food
CONS:
×Mughlai taste was missing as advertised by the restaurant board and it's tag line. ×Food didn't feel healthy and fresh. ×A day after consumption of the non-veg food, my friend had a bad stomach.
So, if you have a tough stomach, then go ahead...

Being pure vegetarian, I stuck to the veg dishes, and they were fantastic! We had soya chaap in a rich cashew-based curry with rotis, and it was delicious. The veg biryani was also spot on. Another highlight was the Achari Soya Chaap Kebab, which had a tangy, smoky flavor—definitely worth trying!
Now, my non-veg friends had a different experience. Their Mutton Raan (half plate) was ₹610, Butter Chicken (half) over ₹500, and Kheema Pav also overpriced with just two tiny pavs. We had checked the online menu beforehand, but turns out it was old and outdated—which the staff casually clarified after we got the bill.
Honestly, for the ambience, food, and service, this place felt like a mid-range family restaurant & bar, but the pricing didn't match the experience. If the food were authentic Mughlai, the price hike might have made sense, but it was just wannabe Mughlai.
I even decorated my Achari Soya Chaap Kebab in tasting menu style (check the pic below) – at least the hotel can take some tips on how fine dining is about both food & presentation, not just...
Read moreSmall restaurant with a seating capacity of 20 people. Decent ambience, the aroma of kebabs hits you as you enter the restaurant and take a seat, salivating over the menu if you are anything like me. We tried keema pav. The keema was bit oilier than usual, had chopped green chillies, so looked spicier than it actually was. Alongwith the butter fried pav, the combo tasted like heaven. Value for money at Rs.220. Next up, we ordered mutton seekh kebab with rumali roti. Seekh kebab was a bit dry with some amount of butter added on top (I was expecting a more buttery version as popular in the Old Delhi area). Best part was the budget. Dinner for the two of us wrapped up in 550 bucks. That's pretty decent given the location (CP) and quality of food served. Waiters were a bit preoccupied and we had to call one 2-3 times before someone responded. Took the menu from me once food was served, finicky about getting the menu dirty. Can't blame them (can I?). Go in their for their specialties like burrah mutton and kebabs and keema pav. Not sure about their biryani, but the...
