This is not a Kerala restaurant. This is Manglorean. So those who are expecting Kerala style/taste food will be disappointed. They are not very upfront about it. Anyway we sat to eat. We ordered the safe items on the menu. We ordered Lemon-Butter prawns and it was so-so. 6 Medium prawns and it was for 349. Kerala Parotta was good and reasonably priced at 20 per piece.
Appam is ok but they do not know how to make it well. It was burnt from the bottom. As a Malayali I was not too happy. Others still may find it alright.
Then we ordered Neymeen curry which was in Mangalore style. Curry was tasty but there were hardly 2-3 very small (I mean very small) pieces. It was at INR460.00. An absolute ripoff. Then the most atrocious part of the whole meal. We ordered a white pomfret tawa fry. We know a thing about fish. White pomfret which weighs 150gms each sells for about 1000 a kg in retail.
We got one such fish and they charged us Rs.1180/- for a single fish which is not more than 150gms.
It was amazingly high priced...A rip off of Himalayan proportions. You may claim that I am a disgruntled customer, which is fine. Please do visit them at your own risk.
There is an Ebbin's restaurant which gives absolutely tasty and reasonably priced Kerala food. There I got a Neymeen (Kingfish) pollichathu - large piece - for INR.360.00. We ate more food from Ebbin's restaurant for half the price.
And one more tip for those wanting to savour Kerala food in Kerala. Don't visit a restaurant which does not serve Beef and/or pork. Unless those are pure vegetarian restaurants.
I am attaching the receipt here.
The restaurant may claim that the fish was not 150 gm, it was 160 or 175. But knowing a bit about fish, I can say it was indeed a very small fish and they marked...
