As a Food & Beverage Manager 20 years and Lead Auditor for ISO 22000, I’ve had my fair share of dining experiences, but Chez Artizan in Pondicherry is a hidden gem that completely surpassed my expectations.

From the moment I stepped through the door, the warm, inviting atmosphere immediately set the stage for an unforgettable meal.

The open kitchen concept and thoughtfully arranged private dining room added a personal, intimate touch to the entire experience.

Each dish, crafted with precision by the talented chef, was a delight. We began with a rich wild mushroom soup, followed by perfectly toasted garlic bread, succulent butter garlic prawns, and a refreshing tomato with burrata. Every item on the menu we tried was exceptional—not just in flavor, but in presentation as well.

The ingredients were fresh and clearly sourced with care, and the prawns were cooked to absolute perfection.

What truly stood out was the service: Informal yet genuinely warm, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. Absolutely amazing! If you are in Pondicherry and you didn’t eat at Chez Artisan, you missed out on a lot! The owners are so kind and knowledgeable with their recommendations. You can see the kitchen live as your food is being prepared.

We had the wild mushroom soup and by god it was the creamiest and most umami flavored soup I have ever had! We also had focaccia and the bread was so soft like a pillow with perfect seasonings and fillings. The Fettuccine was home-made and their bolognese sauce was Devine. Our last dish that we tried was the grilled fish. Really soft and amazingly cooked. All dishes were 10/10. The best food I have ever had period!!!

Special shout-out to the owners who have kept such an amazing decor and homely feel. It really shows how much passion and love they have put into this restaurant. When these elements all combine, there was no way the food was going to be average. It blew our minds and I hope all of you can have the same experience. There’s simply no competition. We had the chicken ramen bowl, ved burger, buratta salad, peri peri chicken leg and paneer steak. Everything came in large quantities and the taste still left us wanting for more
