Firstly, at this price point, you'll not break even in the next 2 years. Know your competitors in the camp area who are serving real good Mughlai. Irani, and mid-east cuisines. Then you have the typical north Indian, Punjabi restaurants as well. You can't sit in the middle. You have to be on top. Which can't be achieved with this taste n price.
If it's Karim's from Delhi, then let me tell you I've been dining in old Delhi since 30yrs., Nizammudin n even the new one at Gurgaon. And if you're coming to Pune n not meeting Delhi taste n standards by more than 90%, it'll be a struggle. I'm sure you get the perspective.
Good: Staff was very welcoming, but maybe that's becoz it's new. But they were greetful. The ambiance is good. Comfortable seating.
I ordered Mutton Seekh, Kadai Gosht n khamiri roti.
Seekh was pretty good. N I'm giving 3 Star for this only.
The biggest disappointment... Kadahi Gosht. How can the dish have super tender mutton but semi cooked gravy, unnecessary overload of semi cooked onion n capsicum. Why? You made mughlai Kadahi Gosht into Punjabi Kadahi dish for no reason. At Rs. 600, it was not even worth 200. Even the Mutton had that slight raw smell. Which makes me wonder about the high quantity of tenderizer used?
I showed the snap I clicked from the last dining at Gurgaon in 2022, my very standard n only order - kebab n Kadahi gosht always! He agreed that the color n gravy were different. N then he said that the water also matters. I agree, but then the gravy content n cooking has to be authentic first. Let the people decide if it's about water!!!
Never again in Pune, unless someone convinces me that they improved to be like Delhi ka...
Read moreI feel compelled to warn others about my deeply disappointing experience at Karims in Camp, Pune. As someone familiar with the renowned Karims in Delhi, I want to make it clear that this establishment appears to be merely trading on that respected name without delivering anywhere near the same quality.
Despite explicitly communicating to the staff that the quality of food would determine if we'd return, our very first order - a simple soup - arrived with an unmistakably foul smell that made it inedible. This was enough to prevent us from ordering any further dishes, and rightfully so. When even the most basic menu item fails to meet minimum quality standards, it raises serious concerns about food safety and kitchen hygiene.
This establishment should not be confused with the original Karims in Delhi. It's unfortunate to see the reputation of a legendary restaurant being diminished by what appears to be an unauthorized attempt to capitalize on its name. The stark difference in quality is immediately apparent.
To potential diners:
I strongly recommend avoiding this particular restaurant. There are many other excellent dining options in Camp, Pune that offer both quality and authenticity. Save yourself the disappointment and expense.
Pros: None to mention
Cons: Poor food quality Questionable hygiene standards Misleading association with the original Karims Delhi Unacceptable food...
Read moreThis experience is based on a food delivery order from Zomato that had the following items: Mutton Seekh Kebab Mutton Biryani Chicken Jehangiri
First things first, after Aafreen restaurant of Westin - this is the best Mutton seekh kebab I have tasted in the City. These kebabs were everything a juicy and moist seekh kebab should be and despite the distance it travelled and more than an hour that it took to deliver, the taste and texture was mind blowing, I can only imagine how fabulous the preparation will be if had directly in person right after it’s prepared so full marks for the Seekh kebabs 👍🏼
However my joy ended there itself as the Chicken Jehangiri was an an average sort of preparation though it wasn’t bad but it was nothing to write home about either.
Coming to the Dum Biryani, I would say it was a DUMB Biryani for sure with no taste whatsoever, this was combination of meat bones and fat laden meat pieces mixed with rice and the result was an absolute bland pairing of rice, it was so bad that it can’t be even called a pulao, forget calling it as Biryani :( an absolute disaster anda simply a waste of money.
Next time if I order I would be careful to order only the Mutton Seekh Kebabs and I am hoping that atleast that will have the same consistent texture and taste as in this instance, overall a less than average...
