Husseny bakery, another institution, serving baked goods to Pune for almost a hundred years now. A local favourite, but not as popular as some of its contemporaries. It is an old shop, on a narrow street, near Camp road. The font of the board is nostalgic and so is everything else about the shop. There is no seating of any kind, so I won’t rate it on ambience. For food, I got a few things: 1. Asked the man to give me a something to munch on while I walk and he handed me a small bun with some layers. Mildly sweet and buttery, it was delicious. I walked a few steps and came back for more. 5/5 2. whole wheat loaf: Soft, pillowy but devoid of much flavour. 3.5/5 3. Osmania cookies: Buttery and delicious. 4/5 4. Naan: This could have used some salt. 3/5 Both the place and the food have an old charm and I loved walking the streets of Pune munching on that lightly sweetened bun. The process are amazing too. I got the whole bunch for a meager 190 rupees. Service was decent as well. Overall a solid 4/5

The first Bakery I ever came across where you stand in line to wait your turn.

Husseny Bakery is an institution in Pune. It is a bakery several decades old. Their Brun bread is crusty and I like it with butter and jam. Assorted rolls and breads along with a variety of biscuits are available by the kilo. Christmas decorations are up now. This is counter service only. The people who work here are professional and friendly. When I take an auto and mention this bakery the driver instantly knows where to go. The easiest way is to turn right on East Street where George Restaurant is located, cross MG Road and make a left on Taboot Street. This way the fare is cheaper than going all the way down...
