I am going to write the review in a different way. My standard way doesn’t convey my feelings properly in this particular case. Hardly any restaurants last anymore. We are witness to a lot of them starting and shutting down. Maybe we have a lot to learn from the legends who have lasted a lifetimes. Mona food is one such place. My mom started eating here with her father 40-45 years back. It is obvious that our city was a very different place back then. But what is not obvious now is that Mona food was very different from what it is now. In the pensioner’s paradise of yesteryear, Mona food was a small roadside eatery serving Chhole Bhature, Samosas and other snacks. You can’t see any signs of that humble beginning now. But that’s the thing about legends I guess. They never boast about how far they have come.

Their signature dish still is what it used to be- Chhole Bhature. What makes it special you ask? It’s the closely guarded family recipe. The colour itself is different from the generically available ones. The taste is also not the standard hyper spicy Chhole and the super oily Bhatura. It is one huge Bhatura and it is very well done. My mom never eats this dish anywhere else: because to her, this is the only Chhole bhature there ever was and there ever will be.

Now, I haven’t been to Delhi and other northern regions which are experts at this particular dish. But, I have grown up eating it and don’t know any other better renditions of it in our city. Only 2-3 even come close to this one.

Coming to the more standard review- AMBIENCE- Family and groups will have a good time here. It is right on MG road and the interiors don’t let you feel that noise and hustle bustle. The walls have photo frames of Pune from almost a century back. The lighting is not bright and lends a mellow tone to the place.

SERVICE- As fast as it should be. They are good at what they do.

LOCATION- It is bang on MG road. Very easy to locate. Their identification can be the weighing machine beside the door.

VARIETY AND TASTE- They have the standard items from Punjabi and Chinese cuisine that all Pure Veg restaurants have. There are some offbeat dishes as well. I have had the veg Subzis and found them to be tasty.

LEGACY- They are as old as a senior citizen. Surviving and growing for this long is truly commendable. Kudos to creating a legacy from such a...

Monafood, it is in the middle of the M.G. Road and exceedingly famous for its’Chole Bhature’, it has made a mark of its taste around. The other North Indian items are good too, but’Chole Bhature’ is that what he is famous for, while his Bhatura has loads of oil. The Ambiance is years old but maintained, the dim lights and air conditioner breeze, you look around and find the frames of Old Black White photos of M.G. Road. They are happy to serve us, and sometimes it might take few minutes extra. It is affordable, yet might find a bit expensive.

This place serves good quality food at little more price when compare its interior and service quality.

Its in heart of Camp and is very old, all members in my family like the food quality. Because of popularity, wait-time can be very much on weekends.

Good range of items and daily stuff. Staff are okay but owners are not so eager to grow business, may be they are happy with the current business.

Less space, and little crowded inside.

Mona Food is a F&B-Casual Dining outlet that offers a wide variety of delicious and healthy food. The menu includes a variety of dishes from around the world, including Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, and American cuisines. The restaurant also offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with comfortable seating and a friendly staff. Mona Food is the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. The restaurant also offers catering services for special occasions. Mona Food is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

Advice: Go there with intention to have full stomach food at affordable price but with...

If you're in the Camp area of Pune and looking for a delicious vegetarian meal, Mona Food is definitely worth a visit. This restaurant has been serving up tasty meals for many years, and it's easy to see why it has such a loyal following. While Mona Food offers a large variety of vegetarian dishes, it is particularly famous for its chana bhature.

The chana bhature at Mona Food is truly outstanding. The chana is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the bhature is light and fluffy. The dish is served piping hot, and it's the perfect meal for a cold day or when you're craving something hearty. But if chana bhature isn't your thing, don't worry - there are plenty of other options on the menu.

In fact, Mona Food offers such a large variety of vegetarian dishes that you're sure to find something you love. From paneer dishes to mixed vegetable curries, the options are almost overwhelming. And no matter what you order, you can be sure that it will be prepared with the same care and attention to detail as the chana bhature.

Despite being an old restaurant, it's clear that the staff takes great pride in keeping the space clean and tidy. The only downside is that the washroom could use a bit of a workover, but that's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

Overall, my wife and I really enjoyed our meal at Mona Food. It's her go-to spot for chana bhature, and now I can see why. If you're in the Camp area of Pune and looking for a great vegetarian meal, this restaurant should definitely be...

Monafoods is a restaurant I have noticed at MG road many times but never took the leap to go to because it has a family restaurant atmosphere which I do not prefer over a hip cafe. Recently I found out that they are a very popular restaurant especially known for their channa bhatura which instantly sent me back 10 years where we used to order channa bhatura more commonly known as chole bhature in the north, post Sunday mass. For the sake of nostalgia, my flatmate and I decided to visit Monafoods one day, in our 5th attempt to find good chole bhature in Camp. The bhatura was excuisite, and why wouldn't it be because they've practically perfected it for many many years now. Me, a hater of spicy food, loved the channa as well. It was just a tad bit creamy or gave the illusion of it, which is a quality I really appreciate in food. My flatmate had other things to say- she felt that the channa was not authentic like Punjabi chole and was not a fan of it. We also got cold coffee and asked the waiter for an extra strong glass, which I also really liked. I can tell that this place is really popular and well loved by many. There isn't much to say about the service or ambience. It is what you would expect from a typical family restaurant but I would definitely recommend going: 8/10
