Welcome to Rajasthan in Pune, yes that's how it feels here. As soon as you enter you see a great ambience. A very positive welcoming vibe is what's offered to you on your arrival. As soon as you are seated, a person arrives on table with a pot so you can wash your hands before meal. As you are done with your hand wash, withing 30-45 seconds your plate will be full of luscious dishes. You just can't wait when you are sitting in front of so delectable food.
The staff will tell the name of the every item they serve in to your plate. You'll have option to choose a variety of Gujarati or Rajasthani Dal & Kadhi (Gujrati is sweet one and the Rajasthani is spicy one). I really liked the attention from the staff and floor manager who was looking at all the tables making sure that you don't have to call someone for anything, before you could finish they were their to offer you more.

Overall experience was smooth and food was tasty, but few things were not up to taste. Firstly the dhokla that should have been soft and spongy, it was not. It was hard and I didn't asked for more of it. Second is the Rabdi, it was not sweet and the consistency of the same was not as per standard. I hope these two things might get fixed on my next visit.

Read moreWorst dinner experience ever at JM Road branch! Visited pimple saudagar branch earlier and loved it, so after a few days visited JM branch with a group of 18 and turned out to be worst hotelling experience in terms food, service, hygiene. • Service: So the staff at the gate assisting valet parking was a polite helpful man but once we entered and did reservation, all the staff gave us terrible, rude, uncooperative treatment. I was feeling little sick so we asked to arrange dining for me little earlier as our other guests were gonna arrive late but they refused. I let it go and waited starving lateron as we started having dinner, we faced very poor service. We had to ask for all items atleast 10 times before they would finally serve it after much delay. The staff seemed completely baffled about their own menu and crowd and failed miserably to manage it. One was literally arguing with everyone instead of serving. Lateron a staff member giving warm water from jug to wash hands somehow missed giving it to me so I waited 10 minutes for him to come again and when he came back I asked him for it and he was holding the water jug in hands and still refuse to pour it saying it's past 11 clock. They even refused to serve drinking water.
• Food: Chaat items were tasty and all sabjis were too spicy like they forgot to add salt and added only chilly powder instead. A roti was burned so I asked for another roti instead of that but they refused to take it back and serve another and made us eat burned rotis. The owner also ignored all to our urges of having water.
In short, everything about pimple saudagar branch is good and everything about JM Road...
Read moreAsk anyone in Aurangabad (Oh yes, I am now closely associated to that city ever since I got married to a beautiful girl from Aurangabad) which vegetarian Thali restaurant they love and you’ll be met with a barrage of passionate responses and the one that tops them is Shahi Bhoj. A brand established since 1984. More on this later, for now, I am going to share about my rare and beautiful vegetarian lunch experience at Shahi Bhoj’s Pune outlet.
Located on JM road, Shahi Bhoj is a vegetarian’s delight. Right from the interiors this place exudes beauty and Rajasthani elegance. Loved how the servers are dressed in complete Rajasthani attire and how they pamper you, starting off with helping you wash hands and then serving you delicacies from Rajasthani, Guajarati & Maharashtrian cuisine in one huge plate. Quite an experience for a hardcore carnivore like me.
The chat served was delicious with the right flavours, really liked the special strawberry twist they gave to the dhokla (that was a first) and the drinks on the side (Masala Chaas & Jaljeera) were bang on. Much needed after trying the different mix (a total of 29 items which included the sides, chutneys, dal, ghee dal, 4-5 sabzis, pulka, desserts, etc)
The menu changes daily so I can’t actually describe them all but my wife, the little princess and I definitely had a good time at Shahi Bhoj Pune. I would recommend it.
The Thali is priced at a decent Rs 390/- all...
