Theobroma Bakery and Cake Shop - Jangali Maharaj Road, Pune — Restaurant in Pune

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Theobroma JM Road on January 12th, 2025. As a regular customer of the Aundh branch, I have always had pleasant experiences there. However, my visit to the JM Road outlet was far from satisfactory.

My wife loves brownies from Theobroma, so we visited the JM Road branch as we were in the area. We arrived at the café at 11:01 PM, and a staff member, Mr. Sunil Shrimant Jogdand, informed us that the café was closed as the closing time was 11:00 PM. While I understood and accepted this, what happened next was unacceptable.

While waiting for our cab outside the café, which was delayed, we observed something that left us deeply disappointed. At 11:20 PM, a lady walked into the café and requested a sandwich. To my shock, Mr. Jogdand accepted her order and served her. Why was she allowed to place an order well past the closing time while I was refused service for arriving just one minute after the stated closing time?

This blatant inconsistency and favoritism are completely unacceptable. As a loyal customer, I expect fairness and equal treatment from an establishment that prides itself on its service. Can Theobroma Food Pvt. Ltd. please explain why this happened?

This incident has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I sincerely hope Theobroma addresses this issue and ensures that all customers are treated equally...

"FOOD OF THE GODS" And I arrived in devil's basket probably. The bluish-green hue ambience and rich plush patisserie smell heightens the senses the moment you step in. The vibe is soothing And that's when the devil's hand takes over and chooses "Lemon tart" pastry. Clearly no idea why I'd do that. (Curiosity) The infamous "Cheese cake" episode from F.R.I.E.N.D.S kicked in the moment I saw New York baked Cheese cake. That pulled me away from obvious chocolate delicacies and made me choose it. Lemon tart is as it sounds, sour-sweet saga of dry texture which tolled total distaste only halfway through it. And NY Cheese cake which I felt was privy to godly experience went downhill. I just sucked at choice and went for SOUR pastries. The Cheese was lightly brownish tinted by baking which looked fantastic. The pics looked good tbh, but taste...

It’s a good place but it is an expensive for cakes especially. The 1/2 kg cake is for 550 to 700 rupees which is not at all worth the cost . I know the ingredients’ quality and all increases the cost but still not worth it . There are far better places in PUNE where you can get good tasting cakes at good cost without scarifying the quality. The roasted chicken and mustard sandwich was really bad . Butter Croissant was okay okay . Another idiotic thing is that they asked my phone to proceed with payment . What if I don’t want to share my phone number . Kindly change that . I was paying right there over the counter . The good part - the staff was extremely helpful and polite . Parking is available near by . I hope that they will reduce the cost in future and improve the taste . And trust me I have tasted better and actually French...
