Anardana Saket - A haven for modern Indian cuisine enthusiasts
As I stepped into Anardana restaurant at DLF Avenue Mall in Saket, Delhi, I was immediately captivated by the blend of modern Indian aesthetics and classic sophistication. The warm ambiance and inviting atmosphere set the stage for what promised to be an unforgettable dining experience.
The dazzling lights and the aroma of exquisite spices signaled the arrival of Anardana, the beacon of modern Indian cuisine. Having heard rave reviews about Anardana's molecular gastronomy and innovative food presentation, I was eager to indulge in their modern Indian cuisine. As I perused the menu, I was intrigued by the fusion of traditional Indian flavors with contemporary twists, offering a tantalizing culinary journey unlike any other.
The restaurant is Anardana's flagship in Delhi, following successful ventures in Gurugram, RK Puram, Chandigarh, and Karkardooma. This strategic location marks a new phase in Anardana's journey, bringing its exceptional dining experience closer to the residents of Delhi.
From the Palak & Kale Chaat ver 2.0 to the Butter Chicken Fondue and Ricotta Dahi Ke Kebab, each dish was a work of art, meticulously crafted to delight the senses. The fusion of South Indian and Italian influences in dishes like the Chettinad Chicken Pizza showcased the creativity and ingenuity of the culinary team.
One standout feature of Anardana is "Aikyam", an exquisite art installation that adds to the restaurant's ambiance, creating a welcoming and immersive dining environment. It's clear that every detail, from the menu selection to the interior design, has been carefully curated to ensure a memorable dining experience.
Behind the scenes, the visionary leadership of Dr. Shruti Malik, the pioneering founder of Anardana, and the creative genius of Chef Gaurav Raghuvanshi, the culinary head, drive the restaurant's commitment to excellence and innovation. Together with Chef Amitabh, the corporate chef, and the dedicated kitchen team, they bring Anardana's culinary vision to life, delivering exceptional taste and presentation with every dish.

Read moreI had been eagerly anticipating a meal at Anardana for quite some time, especially as an individual with gluten sensitivities. Indian restaurants are typically a reliable choice, offering naturally gluten-free options like dals, curries, and grilled meats with rice. However, my experience at Anardana was unfortunately marred by confusion and inconsistency regarding their gluten-free offerings.
Even before being seated, I was informed that only a yellow dal and rice could be made gluten-free. This was immediately contradicted by a manager, who assured me that their tandoori/grilled meats were also safe. However, when it came time to order, the server insisted otherwise, leading to a frustrating back-and-forth. Only after multiple requests did they finally check with the chef, who confirmed the manager's statement that the grills were indeed gluten-free.
This initial confusion created an unwelcoming atmosphere and significantly dampened my enthusiasm. While the food itself was undeniably tasty, it was disappointing to discover that only two of their non-vegetarian starters were available as gluten-free options. In a city with numerous Indian restaurants, many of which are far more accommodating to dietary restrictions, with a number of tandoori and grilled meats and curries like dal makhani and butter chicken being gluten free, Anardana's limited gluten-free menu felt restrictive and exclusionary.
Furthermore, the conflicting information from the staff made it incredibly difficult to trust the restaurant and their service. The uncertainty left me waiting and wondering whether I would end up having a reaction, adding unnecessary stress to what should have been an enjoyable meal.
I sincerely hope that Anardana takes steps to improve their staff training and menu clarity regarding allergens. Implementing a more inclusive menu would not only enhance the dining experience for those with dietary restrictions but also ensure that all patrons feel welcomed and valued. While the food was good, the lack of clear information, the limited options, and the serious concerns about cross-contamination made the overall experience...
Read moreRestaurant Review: Anardana, DLF Avenue Saket (8th August 2024)
I recently dined at Anardana in DLF Avenue Saket on the occasion of my daughter’s birthday, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. We arrived with high expectations given the restaurant’s reputation, but what unfolded was nothing short of a culinary disaster.
Food Quality:
The food served was, frankly, appalling. Each dish was drowning in an excessive amount of oil, making it not only heavy and difficult to digest but also unpalatable. The dishes we ordered were overwhelmingly acidic, with an unpleasant sharpness that overpowered any potential flavors. The taste and quality of the food were no better than that of a poorly managed roadside dhaba—an incredibly disappointing realization given the setting and the prices.
Health Concerns:
I pointed the bad quality of Chicken Changezi within minutes of first bite. The consequences of the substandard food were felt long after we left the restaurant. Both my children and I suffered from severe food poisoning vomits the same night, a clear indication that the food was not prepared with the necessary care or hygiene standards. We are still suffering the bad stomach and with that suffering I am compelled to write this review.
What was meant to be a special celebration turned into a nightmarish ordeal, as we had to deal with the aftereffects of consuming such poorly prepared food.
Overall Experience:
Given the premium location and the ambiance of the restaurant, one would expect a dining experience that justifies the cost and the occasion. Unfortunately, Anardana failed miserably on all fronts. The service was unremarkable, but the real issue was the food—something that should be the highlight of any dining experience. Instead, it was the cause of significant discomfort and disappointment.
I would strongly advise others to reconsider before choosing to dine at Anardana, DLF Avenue Saket. The experience was not only a waste of money but also a serious health...
