Mahabelly is amazingly authentic. It's is nice Kerala food/cuisine restaurant in DLF place premises. Situated on ground floor, just behind Haldiram's (just opposite to DLF Saket's back side parking entrance). The moment you enter, there is a traditional aura that you feel. It's better to reserve your table on heavy days as there is usually a waiting time. The restaurant has a sitting capacity of around 45 people and they have managed it so very well in a medium sized space. Very very well ventilated, relaxing Malayalam music, fresh fragrances, cordial staff, traditional interiors make you feel that you are in Kerala for a moment. The food is so purely authentic and the aroma of care, precision and love from the food woos your heart. All the items in snacks, main course, and drinks are heaven to taste buds. Rarely you would find such restaurant in Delhi (a couple are good in Gurgaon as well). Pretty affordable with good portions. Perfect for a date (your gf/wife will love you all the more), family dinning, casual catch up with friends (as bar is very nice) or taking your parents/kids to show them real Kerala cuisine. Crowd fall is pretty intelligence and intellectual here. We had lovely time having Chicken Chettinad, Porotta, Karimeen Pollichathu, Appam, Payasam, Lime Soda and couple of more items. The hygeine is well maintained and washrooms are very clean as expected. You can also read cookery books there while waiting for your food. This one should be high in spot light for your next lunch/dinner guys.

Authentic Kerala Cuisine served at the Mahabelly outlet, but be ready to pay an astronomical figure. We tried their Aleppey Fish Curry and Porotta and the taste was lip-smacking good. The Fish curry was made in simmering coconut milk and had the classic light tangy flavour to it. The Porotta were fresh, hot, lightly toasted, flaky and fluffy- taste buds were bursting with joy. Their appams were made fresh too. Ambience is above average, but the outlet is a bit noisy. They have a toddy/bar counter too for those who want to enjoy beverages. The biggest flaw are their prices. The original Porotta back in Kerala is served at ₹15-20, but at Mahabelly, they charge ₹70. An appam is one of the lightest breads of Kerala which is charged at ₹10-15, but Mahabelly charges ₹70. Most of the curries and dishes at the outlet start at ₹400. My fish curry was charged at ₹550. The prices are close to what a 5-star hotel in Kerala would charge. I just had a measly meal, and yet my total bill was ₹945. It was a shocker. Edit on 12th May 2024 after seeing response from Restaurant below- i can understand that fresh seafood from Kerala to Delhi can hike up the charges. But regarding every other item on the menu (whose ingredients are commonly available in delhi), your charges are still exorbitant. The best example is Appam, which is made from Rice batter and is supposedly one of the cheapest breakfast breads in Kerala. And regarding your comment that you pay top-dollar rent for the location, i checked the menu pricing of big restaurants in and around Saket. Your prices are still way on the higher end. So I would still say that from VFM perspective, you charge an astronomical figure.

We can see Kerala cuisine board in front of many restaurants in Delhi but verify few serve the real authentic Kerala cuisine, and Mahabelly is one of such few restaurants. Great ambiance and provide an excellent service. Down to earth staff and management. A well known and suggestive place for Malabari-Chettinad cuisine in Delhi. Each and every dish you try here is so authentic. From my personal experience, the combination of fish shappu meen curry (fish curry) and appam was so great and really delicious. The gravy was rich and full of flavours. The management is strictly following all covid protocols with adequate social distancing. I visited two times with my north and south-east Indian friends, and they also gave excellent feedback about the restaurant and food which they serve. It was an excellent experience!. From my personal experience I came to know that, in Delhi, because of the area and hotel management, it is not advisable to go with family and friends (especially women). But Mahabelly is exceptional to this because the restaurant is located in a well-known place and the hotel management provides a great service, so it is advisable to have food with family and friends. The price is a little high but it is worth each and every rupee we spend on food.

We had a lot of expectations while visiting this place and we were fairly satisfied with regards to taste of the food but half satisfied with the price worth ratio . We had the Kizhi Porotta, Kothu Porotta and Biriyani & out of this Kizhi Porotta is the only stuff which I would have again as it was juicy and spicy & above all our expectation. The staff were decent and cooperative & really did know how to explain a dish. Now the cost of items seems to be a bit over the top considering the fact that the same items are available in other restraunts across Delhi for much less. Also in case of Mahabelly it's just the location that justifies the cost but the interior feels not up to the mark for a restaurant which is charging a price marginally high compared to other restaurants offering good Kerala food. While totally appreciating the efforts taken by the restaurant owner to create a Michelin Star authentic Kerala food experience I would still suggest that they should look into the price worth ratio & improve the overall experience if they plan to maintain the same price point.

I always had the desire to explore something more than the usual Dosa, Vada and idli that I've always been used too. Mahabelly changes all that The restaurant helps you take a trip down south while being very much in the capital city but mayn is the food HOT!!! Definitely tell the concerned person taking your order to make it less spicy if you're not very good with spice since the dishes in itself would make u sweat. Apart from that i absolutely loved the flavours, I've been a fan of their parottas and beef with coconut and their mutton biryani Their chicken chettinad is the less spicy one out of the lot, rich and goes well with the parota. Sharjah shake also is nice and thick Loved the experience here. The seating is limited so do make a reservation!! Kudos to the Mahabelly Definitely had a mahabelly after a hearty meal here haha :)

Heard and read a lot about this restaurant over the Internet and from friends wo decided to give it a shot, As per the reviews posted, the restaurant did not met my expectations food wise. Tried Chettinad Chicken and Parrota there and specifically asked to make it spicy but to my dismay it was sweet in taste. The ambience and vibe is all very good and waiters were cordial and helpful in nature. You might have to wait up for the seat in peak hours and I suggest you to reserve a table beforehand. The price are on a little expensive side and since it does not meet the expectations of taste, so it's kinda disappointed. All in all its a good place of you're craving for authentic South Indian food but don't like Dosa. P.S. They also add service charge in the total amount, but you can ask them in advance to not imply it.
