Me and my friends planned to celebrate one of our friend birthday treat in a nice restaurant for lunch in a buffet place. Zomato recommend few buffet places and we decided to try a buffet which is not having live BBQ on table. Coz we had tried most of the live BBQ buffets (famous ones in Chennai) and everything was waste of money.

Thus we ended up at 27 Culinary Street, the place sounds fancy and i had called the restaurant to share their buffet menu. They had a 2 page buffet menu which was looking good. Then we called and reserved this place for lunch @2pm slot. We were informed to reach the destination before 2:15pm so they don't cancel the reservation.

The moment we entered this place, it was so crowded. We got a table on the right side of this place (near dessert section). They cleaned the table for us and was asked to serve bottle water or normal water. We told we need warm water. The waiter didn't turn up for the next 15mins. We had requested again for warm water but nobody responded. There were 10-15ppl running around the restaurant but nobody were able to serve water. They were literally forcing us to drink the chargeable water (vedika bottle) which they placed on all tables.

Later we reached out to one of the person who was dressed like a chef, to serve was starters on the table (which was on menu). He responded they will clear the previous slot billings and will start serving in 10mins. Then another table got filled in 5mins, even for them they told 10mins. Finally by 2:30ish they started serving starters and we were told to start the soups/salad section.

Starters came one by one, vegetarian starters were limited but ok. Non-veg Chicken starters were fine, but grilled Prawn and Fish fry which they served on table were not good. They tasted like frozen and wasn't appetizing. I asked them if it was fresh, the person said everything is fresh. I think we were on the table for over 30-40mins but nobody kept any cutlery on the table. We asked the waiter to provide us cutlery but each time he gave only for one person. They were lazy to check and provide cutlery for everyone on table.

Then we stepped away from table to get the main course and live-counter foods. We tried most of the dishes and they weren't good for my taste buds. To be frank, i didn't find the food appetizing or tasting good as the name says. I tried the Biriyani which wasn't looking like biryani. It tasted like ready made masala, then the surprising part was there were no chicken pieces in chicken biriyani. Then one of the person said they made a fresh batch and will refill it. I waited 5mins and then they refilled it. But when I digged into the biriyani, all the pieces in biriyani were looking dry. I lost my appetite then i took one leg piece and came to the table.

The leg piece from biriyani was looking dry, still i wanted to break it and see. Then i noticed the biriyani pieces were frozen chicken and not fresh too. The fat content on chicken pieces were dried and looked like white particles. I took a video of it and then decided to stop eating. Asked the waiter to clear my plate. I wanted to complaint about it, but i know their reply "EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH". so I didn't waste my time.

Then i tried their dessert section which was pretty decent. All the Indian desserts were good like Moong Dhal Halwa, Gulab Jamun. They had something called Brownie but it was Philsbury chocolate cake. Other fresh cream cakes taste decent. Nothing to complaint. Finally tried their pan and chilly icecream.

Food : ⭐ 1/5 Ambience : ⭐ 1/5 Cleanliness : - 0/5 Service : ⭐ 0.5/5

Overall Feedback : very poor quality of food and they could serve better for the money...

Recently, I had to visit Chennai for my official work. I stayed in a 5 start hotel near marine beach. Since I am a food lover, I decided to explore new eatery near to my hotel. While searching on Google, I found this place called 27 Culinary Street. In first, I thought this might be the name of location, but later I realized that it's in fact name of the hotel. So decided to visit this place for lunch.

Lunch I saw some offers going on in one of the food app. So quickly grabbed the offer after the payment. Within 5 minutes I got a call from the restaurant enquiring about my booking. The guy asked me to come at 12 o clock. I replied him, boss I have booked the table at 1 pm, why should I come for 12, and also I have some work at 12. So it's not possible. Then he said, please come at 2 pm. I got frustrated and asked, should I come to your restaurant or not? Then he said - please come sir. Actually we have lots of booking today that the reason I am asking you to come early. I will give -1 🌟 for his behaviour.

Around 12:45 I managed to get rid of the work and reached the restaurant. Waiter guided me to a table.

I was just thinking, over the phone my experience was so bad, not sure how it will be in restaurant. Meanwhile a person came and asked, sir veg or non-veg. I informed him about my choice and after few minutes, they started servings the food.

The quality of food was really good. I was enjoying my food. Meanwhile a person came to me and started asking about the food quality, anything else you need. After inquiry, I came to know that he is restaurant manager and his name is Suklyan Chakroborty (excuse me if I have misspelled). He is really a gentleman. He walked me through all counters and explained all dishes.

There were living counters for Indian chatpata items like Pani Puri. It was moving along with the conveyor belt. There were 3-4 sweet items all was tasty.

The one thing you must try there is Chocolate Pani Puri. Yes you heard it right. I also saw this first time. It's totally different test.

All together, it was great...

Yesterday we went for lunch with my family and kids based on the earlier reviews, it is an horrible experience, start with atmosphere, the lighting is very poor, we couldn't see the exact color of the food, then AC is not at all sufficient for the entire place, to adjust the cooling they have kept two pedestal fans in the corners for name sake, same issue was highlighted by other family with the in-charge, he was convincing like due to crowd and live kitchen AC is not adequate, since it is summer literally sweating inside then taste of the food is not worth for what they are charging Rs.809/- per buffet for four Rs.3398/-, Eg.In the chat for two pani puri, they kept the potato like pickle which is not sufficient.. Mutton kebab we shouldn't realize the mutton taste at all, Mutton biriyani taste was not good, it was like tomato rice, couldn't feel the aroma, Kerala fish curry which is really attracting to eat by seeing the pieces, but the it is not case if you took the pieces it is filled with air, the pieces are so fluffy there is not much flesh inside the fish taste also not good, Chicken starters not that much good getting flesh smell inside, when we had in the wings.. peri peri chicken was little better. I never had the panneer labrador like this, usually the north Indian hotels will serve very good panneer recipe this was not like that even the panneer pieces like gems size, then desert moong dal halwa, it is horrible because it was over burnt taste is not good, same was complaint to the in-charge, he also checked and told me that yes it was burnt and said will ask them change till we leave it was not changed, then Gulab jamun size it is just bigger then gems, taste was like milk balls. The other desert items are little better.. There was quote in their wall "Food is necessity and cooking is Art" does it mean spoiling food taste is also an Art.. Overall not worth for money

Visited this restaurant in one fine evening around 7:00 pm. We have visited this restaurant early. The restaurant has its own wallet car parking, you can give your car and wait for the key, they will park the car and then give the key along with token for car. The restaurant located in the second floor. It has lift facility also. Once we open the door of the restaurant... I admired very much due to the ambience and its look. Huge hall type of dinning tables and some of the chairs are themed like car... Nice to see this type of ambience and there are live counters also for even veg items and non veg items, as per your request... The live counter warriors prepare your favorite food and will serve all the food taste are awesome. It is like buffet type restaurant. So they stated from welcome drink (mint lemon) Nice Kickstart then they served clear chicken soup and it is also good, then they served starters from American corn fried and chicken BBQ as well as fish fry (nethily). Malapar Chicken Tikka was top notch... I loved it very much. After completed starter we moved to main course... They have limited main course.. We have early searching mutton briyani but they provided chicken briyani. Chicken. Briyani was nicely Cooked and now the engine is in full throtal.... We completed the main course and moved to live counters, we have asked egg kalaki they prepared immediately and gave to one of my friend....he loved it very much. They have lot of varieties in pastry items too.... They provide kulaph jamun and chocolate cake and stone ice cream and all other foody stuffs. Overall this restaurant is one of heart touching restaurant. Strongly recommend this 27 Culinary Street..... For your group party as well as family get to gethers. Definitely I will visit this restaurant once again with my family.... Roja may like this place.....!
