⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Amaravathi Andhra Restaurant in Chennai, and it was an overall delightful experience. The restaurant excels in offering a wide variety of authentic Andhra cuisines that cater to a range of tastes. From seafood to non-vegetarian options, the menu is extensive and impressive.
The seafood dishes, in particular, were a highlight. They were incredibly fresh and prepared with an array of spices that truly brought out the authentic flavors of Andhra cuisine. The prawn and fish curries were exceptional, with a perfect blend of heat and taste.
For non-vegetarian lovers, the restaurant offers a robust selection of dishes that do not disappoint. The chicken and mutton dishes were cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with rich, traditional flavors. The biryanis were also noteworthy, aromatic and flavorful, reflecting the culinary heritage of Andhra Pradesh.
The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and comfortable, providing a pleasant environment to enjoy your meal. The decor is simple yet elegant, enhancing the dining experience without overwhelming it. The staff were courteous and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
One small area for improvement could be the waiting time during peak hours. It tends to get quite busy, which speaks to its popularity, but it can lead to longer waits for a table. However, once seated, the service was prompt and efficient.
In conclusion, Amaravathi Andhra Restaurant is a great place to experience the rich and diverse flavors of Andhra cuisine in Chennai. Whether you're a fan of seafood or non-vegetarian dishes, this restaurant has something to satisfy your cravings. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Andhra...
Read moreAmaravathi restaurant situated in Cathedral road is a restaurant that serves Andhra meals. Craving for rice in the evening we decided to have Andhra meals for the first time and headed to Amaravathi, as it has ample parking space, also coz we were eyeing this restaurant for quite a long time. Finding the entry door to this restaurant is quite tricky as the entrance is not very welcoming. Entered the restaurant and walked to the interiors to find a table. I must say, the restaurant is poorly maintained and in a shabby state. We weren’t sure if we should dine here but thought atleast let’s see how the food is, if at all we’d want to swiggy/zomato next time. Ordered Andhra meals with seer fish curry and Chicken kheema dosa as the waiter suggested its one of their must haves. Andhra meals was decent. Fish curry tasted more like tomato curry though it had 2 pieces of fish. Chicken kheema dosa was extremely thin and light for ₹250/- (approx.) like you’d definitely have to order more. The service wasnt upto the mark either. The tables and chairs we sat on were in bad condition and so was the entire place. Never felt this disgusted going to a restaurant in Chennai. I really hope they focus on interiors a little bit and give the importance it requires. Makes me wonder how bad the kitchen must be if this is how the restaurant is kept. Food was definitely overpriced for the service and ambience they...
Read moreI recently visited Amavathi Restaurant after almost 10 years, and while the food still holds its charm in some areas, a lot has remained unchanged — and not necessarily in a good way.
We ordered the Non-Veg Meals and Biryani Meals Combo, and the taste was absolutely fantastic — rich, flavorful, and satisfying. These traditional dishes were definitely the highlight of our dining experience.
However, the Viral Fish Fry was a big disappointment. It was completely bland and lacked seasoning, which felt out of place compared to the otherwise tasty meal.
What really brought the experience down was the service. The staff seemed lethargic and inattentive, possibly overwhelmed by the crowd. Basic needs like salt for curd were missing on the table, and we had to ask multiple times. On top of that, language barriers with the wait staff made communication frustrating.
Another noticeable aspect was the ambience — I had dined here a decade ago, and honestly, the walls, interiors, and even the front desk look exactly the same. It feels outdated and definitely in need of refurbishment to match today’s standards.
Overall, Amavathi still delivers in terms of core food quality (especially the meal combos), but the outdated interiors and poor service need urgent attention. A little modernization and better staff training could easily bring this iconic spot back to its...
