Great Theme and Average Food. What lured me to this place was its proximity to where I was during lunch. Used the ever useful "Restaurants Nearby" on Android Auto and it drove me to Kaidi Kitchen.
For a week-day lunch in Alwarpet, this place was empty when I walked it at 1:20pm. As you would have guessed, the place is themed after a Jail. The huge Iron doors leading in, the various booths that look like cells with actual "iron bars", and the waiters and captains dressed as prisoners and Jailors, is amusing. A place you can visit with friends.
Menu - The spread is huge. It boasts of Mexican, Italian, Continental, Chinese as well as Indian Food. However, the buffett, (for Rs 499/-) was hardly worth a look, serving only plain North Indian fare. I settled for A-la-carte, and ordered a Queso Nachos and a Virgin Margarita. 'Two faux pas' there 1- not enough cheese / queso on the Nachos, which had also become soggy to be used as a chip. Plus, there was just a teeny bit of sour cream, no beans, no cheese sauce, and no Salsa. 2 - Sweet and Watermelon flavored Margarita (not what I ordered). Too Less, for the price.
For mains, I ordered a Mexican Sizzler, with Brown Rice. The only thing good about it, was that it was Hot. I wasn't expecting Fusilli Arabbiata in a Mexican Sizzler. The Brown Rice was dry, there was nothing to cut the acidity in the dish.
The service was prompt enough, although quite impersonal (no smiles).
I spent over Rs 800/- for a Starter, A drink and a Mains. So No Stars for Value for Money.
Would I be back again? Sure... for photos. Not...
Read moreA place that cares least about customer relationship! Be well aware that the staff here isn't trained to handle unusual problems that are created by themselves. They misplaced our car keys that were given to them for valet parking. Something that happened after 10.30 pm. They were constantly in a rush to pack us off to our home in a cab, without arriving at a solution. We had to come up with suggestions and ideas to look for the key. As long as we were decent with them, they took us for granted. It was only when we raised our voices, threatened them with consequences, did the owner of the restaurant, who is based out of Kolkata, even bother to call back and speak on the matter(AFTER WE CONTINUOUSLY & DESPERATELY TRIED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM). This was ONLY after 2 hours of us standing outside his restaurant beyond 12 midnight with our kids, all aged below 12 years. That was how sensitive and responsible he was towards the whole matter. The keys were found the next day. Where?? With one of their delivery guy, who had taken it my accident, THEY CLAIM. How?? I really have no clue. We were just relieved we got our car keys back. Happily and grateful for miracles, we left a message for the so called OWNER on the good news. Wasn't that THE appropriate thing to do? We didn't have to, after the ordeal he and his team put us through. Well, we haven't heard from him or his team. No apologies, no sorries!! It's sad to see such arrogance, indifference and callousness in an industry that thrives on customer satisfaction, humility and empathy....
Read moreWe had gone to this restaurant first time for my wife's birthday. As it is a working day not much crowd. The prison theme is wonderful and we enjoyed it. We had done our booking a day earlier and requested for a seat inside the jail room. Any way it's first come first serve. You have to make the booking only during the hours of operation. For instance, they open for lunch at 12 noon. So if you call for booking at say 10.30 am, the line will keep on ringing and no one will answer. This is something strange. Management need to look into this. We have been given excellent service by Mr Joseph. He has a rich experience of around 2 decades in the hotel industry and it shows in the hospitality. The dishes were of excellent taste and we loved it. We really wanted to meet the Chef and personally thank him. But we were told that he is in a meeting. Not sure of the real reason though. Management should allow the niceties and appreciation to reach the real person behind the scene instead of giving an excuse like this. Any way it's up to them to the up the standard and we don't care about it. I am giving 5 star for the ambience, the hospitality by Mr Joseph and the...
