Bambino Beach Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I recently visited Bambino with high expectations (suggested by the Indian local driver, I bet they are together), hoping for a delightful dining experience by the beach. Unfortunately, my encounter turned out to be a disheartening one. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback to prevent others from having a similar experience.

Upon arrival, we were enticed by the restaurant's picturesque beachfront view. However, our excitement quickly turned into dismay when we ordered the crab dish. The restaurant claimed it was freshly caught, but to our dismay, we were served lifeless crabs. It was evident that the crab was far from fresh and lacked the quality we anticipated.

To add insult to injury, the restaurant went to the extent of upcharging us, asserting that the crab was a premium stone crab variety. This unwarranted price increase only heightened our disappointment. Not only were we misled about the freshness of the seafood, but we were also subjected to an unnecessary financial burden.

Regrettably, the consequences of dining at Bambino extended beyond disappointment. Shortly after our meal, my companions and I fell ill with food poisoning, which impacted the remainder of our stay in India. It was a distressing experience that could have been avoided had we chosen a different establishment.

In conclusion, I must emphasize that my visit to Bambino was nothing short of a ridiculously horrible scam. The allure of a beachfront view masked the subpar quality of the food, the deceptive upcharges, and the subsequent health issues we encountered. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as it falls far short of being worthy of patrons' time, money, and well-being.

This is one of the best restaurants for dining in the city of Mahabalipuram. Location of this restaurant is ideal which is next to the sea beach in Fisherman Colony. Roof-top restaurant offer some great views of sea beach. The best part of this restaurant is fresh and delicious food. We have been asked to select from a variety of fresh fishes. Food is hygienically prepared and the wait time is reasonably good especially with the great view of sea beach around. We ordered White Snapper (both curry and Tava Fry) which was awesome. Their Prawn fry and Nutrela Pancake were really good too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Restaurant owner Sugumaran is a fisherman himself and very down to earth person. Restaurant manager Kumar understands the individual food requirements pretty well and serve food accordingly. Infact he suggested the food based on the different taste buds for me, my wife and my daughter and all of them clicked really well. Not to forget about very friendly restaurant staff Santhosh who went extra mile and helped me with my Car's tyre puncture in the unknown place of Mahabalipuram. We were suggested this place for lunch by our tour guide Yuvraj at Mahabalipuram. The place has a sea view and that's all the good thing about this restaurant. There are several other restaurants with a sea view around it.

The service is very poor. When we walked in (and our guide had booked a table for us) they refused to give us a table we wanted (which had a sea view) saying that the table is reserved. We said even our table has been reserved beforehand. The manager was very rude.

Then we saw a group of foreigners walked in and the manager gave them the better table asking us to adjust with the poorer one. This was done probably hoping for dollar tips.

Food was also served to the foreigners before they served us.

We ordered lobsters with lemon butter sauce. They gave us tawa fry lobsters and some watery liquid in the name of butter garlic sauce. That too the sauce came 10 mins after the tawa fry lobsters were served.

Same with other food items - the crab soup was a tasteless crab stock and not soup, the fried chicken didn't have salt and the pasta was undercooked.

The place is also pricy considering this kind of awful food quality.
