From the moment we arrived, Ramesh (the owner of Fish & French Fries Restaurant) made us feel so welcome. There was an air of excitement and joy upon us entering the restaurant. Ramesh immediately bought out an array of fish, live crab, lobster and prawns, stored on ice, for us to choose from. What can I say, the food was so delicious and made with love. The deep fried masala prawns are the best prawn dish I’ve ever eaten and the tavva fried lobster was finger licking good! Most dishes are served with a big portion of delicious masala french fries. This was washed down with a cold Kingfisher beer shandy.
This restaurant has a view of the beach. Ramesh even let us play our own music from his speaker. We loved this place so much we returned twice in our 3 day stay in Mamalapuram.
This place is quaint and has a surf shack feel to it. If you’re looking for good sea food and impeccable service, this is the place to go!
Thank you...
Read moreWe thought of giving a try after seeing google reviews for this place. Trust me, this place served its best.
We stayed in a resort on outer sides of Mahabalipuram where they were in shortage of food. So we had a look at nearby restaurants with good ratings in Google and called the chef/owner and he immediately welcomed us and promised that he would serve quickly since we were super hungry. It was a Sunday and the cops stopped us from going inside Mahabalipuram due to covid and we immediately called Mr. Ramesh the owner and gave the mobile to him where he convinced them that we booked a table and made us to come to his place. His attitude in welcoming his guests inspite of our tough situations expressed his gesture of hospitality. Needless to say his wonderful cooking fulfilled our hungry tummies. Hats off Anna. You will definitely reach heights. You are always...
Read moreAn amazing find. The owner catches the fish with his dad every day, displaying them to you to choose which you would like.
He then talks through how he might cook it for you - cooking them to your preference with suggestions on spice or flavours. Ultimately, the fish speaks for itself and is just enhanced by some chef additions. This is then served, as the name suggests, with fries and a salad garnish. A great example of the old restaurant adage of ‘do one thing, but do it well’
Romesh does a number of jobs (at least during the down season when we are there), including standing at the road corner looking for business. Usually we wouldn’t even consider going into a restaurant where someone asks you to come in. But we had seen this place walking past and read the online reviews. It 100% did not disappoint! Very...
