One of the Best Restaurants in Mahabalipuram. The Restaurant is Right Next to Beach Shores. Valet Parking is available, Make sure you call them when you enter the Othavaadai Street request them for parking. The parking usually done by an unknown person between the Santana Restaurant and Mumu Surf School. Which is next next to Beach shore. From the Parking the Restaurant should be 100 to 200 meters towards your left if you are Facing the Sea.
Very Small Restaurant with a seating of Approximately 30 people (Guess). So we need to be early to get a seat, I heard from the Restaurant that Weekend's are completely occupied after 1 in the afternoon till 4 in the Evening for Lunch. Same situation in the dinner time on Weekends.
As a Family, We had gone on a weekday and a bit early, so we got seats facing the beach. Beautiful Beach View.
On the Food, we ordered Calamari Fried Rings ( Kanava or Kadamba ) with Mayonnaise, lemon was also provided, the Calamari was Crispy and easy to chew and eat, the Fried Calamari was excellent with the Mayonnaise. ( Thick Mayonnaise ) it Costed 300 Rs.
Next I ordered a Masala Fried Fish with Rice ( Rice Additional cost ) the fish was Trevally Fish ( Paarai Meen ) a small one. The Masala was so Spicy and So good. Quality Fish and Fresh one. Scrumptious Dish. Must try one. I think the Cost was 450 Rs.
Then I ordered a South Indian Fish Curry with Rice. The Fish is Red Snapper Fish ( Sankara Meen ) I think 3 Medium Size pieces was there, again a Fresh fish tasted so nice, the fish was Buttery and Tasty. The Curry was medium hot or Spicy. It tasted so so good. I think the Fish Curry Costed 300 Rs
The only disappointment was the Curd. It was like a milk.
Waiters are good. My suggestion to the restaurant owner is to Educate their Waiters on the type of Fish Served in each Dish and to Memorize the dishes. The Waiters were very Young, Energetic, Polite and Friendly people. Hemanth Kumar who served the food on our table was very pleasant guy.
One more suggestion is to provide Rasam with Curry and Rice. Cos some Restaurants in that stretch do that. Upto to me it is a plus.
Muthu who own this place is a pleasant guy who always carries a Huge Smile on his Face.
Liquor and Beer Available.
They also give a receipt ( Bill ) for the food (GST) included. Which is a rare sight in this Stretch.
Good place for Family. Who doesn't mind the Liquor part.
Will try this place...

If driving please be careful while navigating there using Google Maps. The route recommended to us passed through very narrow roads with cars sometimes parked in a one lane road and you can easily get blocked. Luckily in our case we were able to reach out to the restaurant whose valet parked the car. The best route is along the same route to Moonrakers - not sure what the name of that road is but it ends up at the beach where Searocks shares parking with Santana Restaurant. The valet is available here who will park your car for you and you could walk along the beach and reach Searocks.
The view is fairly decent - Bay of Bengal view - if somehow the beach front could be kept more clean. There is a view of the Shore Temple to the right.
The service is the highlight. The restaurant staff will do their utmost to provide good service.
The Food - try the tawa fried masala prawns - we enjoyed that the most. The Tiger prawns - we ordered in Butter and Garlic sauce but had tomato (sauce?) too which we didn't enjoy as much but here the excellent service came to help here. They were okay to change the dish. We also tried the red snapper - all the sea good was fresh and they have a live lobster tank in the kitchen. The red snapper was cooked in the same tawa masala - it wasnt what I remembered from Moonrakers sauce but fairly close. We enjoy spice and again the staff brought us some sauce on the side and we polished off the fish.
The place is great for a un-hurrried sea food experience and for me another option to the other...
Read moreThe quaint little Hut on the sea side has a very humble seating. Plastic chairs alongside plain wooden tables don't leave me with much to talk about. Also the fact that they have limited seatings by the seaside.
We didn't get a seaside table as there were already large groups queuing outside.
Nevertheless we settled and Mutthu happened upon us. Mutthu runs the place.
We ordered beer for which options were quite limited (guessing something to do with Tasmac restrictions).
The beer (carlsberg) surprisingly was served in non-transparent mugs. Which was wierd in a way as most places give you glasses. Again I discounted this thinking it might be to do with restrictions.
The food arrived. Calamari fried with lemon wedge & mayo. Check. Chilli chicken. Check. (It's my staple) And Live lobster prepared two ways. Double check.
The food just blew me away. Absolutely fresh and juicy seafood. So fresh that the meat was tasting sweet and going well with the loud spicy tamil masala I am already loving.
Took a portion of lobster, dabbed it in some masala and squeezed some lime on top. And voila. I could kill for this experience.
Two big thumbs up for Mutthu and the team. Lovely food by the sea.
And the beach is quite neat btw. Boats across the beach in different colours makes for quite a picturesque...
