A once-treasured bar has become a mockery of itself.
Edit: Durrant’s people have been bombarding me with hateful messages.
Durrant’s was a classy place. The place (after the recent renovation) still looks classy. But, there are issues. Firstly, the leather chairs are a bit too stiff to feel comfortable when sitting on them. But, that wasn’t even my biggest peeve.
How can a bar in a luxury hotel not have imported wines or vermouth. You end up ordering straight liquor like the way you would in a local bar.
The service is a nightmare. There’s this Northeastern (Nagaland) girl (Meryl or Meril or something) with a short bob with bangs hairstyle resembling the Ana De Armas program in Blade Runner 2049. This woman is more interested in finding out if the bar patrons were a member of the in-house membership programs. She’s supposedly the “ambassador/hostess” of the place and she spends her time talking only to rich old dudes and completely ignoring the younger patrons. My stomach turned when she agreed to the lecherous advances of some patron.
Lastly, the mosquitoes come out of nowhere and are reason enough to stop you drinking.

I felt totally at place while engaging with Ratan, the "boss" at the bar. He came across as an extremely humble, well-mannered and genial individual.
