Erode Amman Mess , Adyar
It was around 9:30 PM searching good restaurants in and around adyar / bessy. These areas are usually flooded by Cafe and Muti Cuisine restaurants but 🚶. Serious craving for Ooru style food hitted me so bad and got this from one of my friend as a recommendation 😅. . I have seen lots of reviews about this place here during the peak launch period so it was in by bucket list for some time and finally made it 😅 . Located exactly backside of Sony Centre Adyar with no valet parking ( Need to park your car roadside). It was a Saturday night with heavy crowd literally we where made to wait for 20-30 mins for thw table. After 10:10 PM we got a table for 4 and the rest is history 💥. Ambiance was good and was a bit noisy ( Its like a Mess in Air-conditioned area) . Our Orders . 💥 Egg Biriyani (190 INR): That Kushka la Mutton Piece kedacha moment 😂. It was around 10:15 PM so no Mutton biriyani 🥲. This was a mutton kushka served with 2 Eggs. The Biriyani was ultimate. Gheeish and flavourful with less irritants ( Since it is a Seeraga Sambha biriyani) The portions where good and served with Saalna and Raitha. The Little mutton pieces where soft and tender 🤤 . 💥 Chicken Kola Urundai(30 /PC): Was good hut not hot. was literally cold but the taste was good. after our meal again we ordered 1 and that was piping hot and tasted really good 🤤 . 💥 Egg Lappa (125 INR): Huge parota stuffed with egg and onion a typical cyclone parota kinda one tasted really good . 💥 Ghee Parota (80 /PC): While writing this review only saw this price This Parota was loaded with Ghee bath and tastes good but the price dorya single piece was 🚶 . 💥Parota (30/PC): The Parota was super soft and flaky A must try here along with Ooru style saalna and raitha 🤤 . 💥Fish Finger(265 INR): was good and fresh . Their mayo was ultimate 💥 . Overall a must try restaurant if you love Ooru style mess food. Pricing was okaish but i felt this as a VFM 💥. I request you to go there before 7-8 to have a peaceful dining experience. Overall it came around 1k for 4 ppl with tummy full😅 . Sambhavam...

Japan chicken - Renowned dish which is similar to Mac and cheese but instead it was chicken and cheese; ain't spicy at all and it was sweet from the watery gravy, very tender BL meat, a bit Tangy but still enjoyable 👌
EAM Veg Meals with Annur Mutton Kuzhambu - A full meal with poriyal, kootu on a banana leaf, now that is a platter!! Hands down, their paruppu podi is the BEST EVER; with the ghee and their potato poriyal, this was HEAVENLY!! Their mutton gravy was exquisite!! That delicious Kongu taste in every scoop, moderate spice level, Very tender meat, yeh dil maange more!! To sum up with were their Curd, buttermilk, and gulkand, A PROPER MEAL!! 🥰
Chicken biryani - The seeraga samba rice was scraped from the vessel so was a bit burnt; the meat pieces were well cooked, succulent and with the Japan chicken gravy, this was a different combination 😊
Mutton kothu parotta - WHAT-A-WOW!! So damn tender mutton chopped to bite-sized pieces and minced very well with the soft parotta!! Spicy pepper with kongu masala and the chill flavour from the gravy, OH WOW, Amazing aroma, this was pretty spicy and AWEsome!! 😘😘
Masala kalakki and Chinna vengaya omelet - Their shallots omelet tasted good while the kalakki tasted normal to me with the basic ingredients in any kalakki, GOOD!! 😍
Ambiance/Price: One of the biggest cons of this place is their parking space and the waiting time for the tables. I had to squeeze my bike in somewhere possible; waited for around half an hour during peak hours even on a weekday and got my seats on a shared table. But, there was not much of a waiting time for the dishes. It was quick and courteous; not much of an ambiance too, very much like any South Indian hotel. The prices too were very well within our nominal budget so a good place to try out their signature dishes.

🍽️ Food Experience: The food here is nothing short of spectacular if you're craving authentic South Indian non-veg dishes!
Japan Chicken 🐔: This dish absolutely stole the show. It had a perfect blend of spice, crispiness, and tenderness. The coating was crunchy while the inside was juicy – a must-try item here!
Mutton Biryani 🍖: Rich, aromatic, and full of flavor. The mutton pieces were soft and cooked just right. The portion was generous, and the biryani had that perfect balance of spice and masala.
Prawn Fry 🍤: Fresh prawns, cooked to perfection and coated in a spicy masala. It’s flavorful and has that coastal-style preparation which seafood lovers will appreciate.
Ghee Parotta 🫓: Soft, layered, and dripping with ghee – it paired amazingly well with the side curries. Comfort food at its best!
Goli Soda 🥤: A fun addition to the meal – refreshing and nostalgic, perfect to cool down after a spicy meal.
🚽 Restroom Condition: This is one major downside. The restroom was poorly maintained – not clean, and not up to the standards you'd expect from a restaurant with such great food. Definitely needs improvement.
🚗 Parking: Parking is quite challenging and risky. There’s no dedicated parking area, so you’ll have to leave your vehicle on the roadside, which can be troublesome especially during peak hours.
🕰️ Waiting Time: If you're visiting during the weekend, be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for a table. 👉 For groups of 6 or more, the wait time is usually longer, and it’s difficult to find a large table. For smaller groups or couples, the wait is relatively less. So plan accordingly to avoid frustration.
📍 Final Thoughts: If you're a foodie, this place is absolutely worth a visit. The food will win your heart, but keep in mind the parking struggle, long wait times, and restroom issues. A little better facility management would elevate this place to...
