Focaccia — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Went for the Saturday IL Grande Pranzo Brunch Buffet and had a very mediocre, bordering on bad, experience for what was priced quite expensively (about 2800 per person after tax). The appetisers were very limited with a lot of it being charcuterie and salad bites, the service wasn't good at all, we had to repeatedly get up and approach the servers to get an understanding of what the buffet was. We had to keep walking up to the servers in the middle of lunch to ask for mocktails and their availability (which were included in the buffet), whether they had pizza or pasta, and what the mains were. The mains were meats that were overcooked - rubbery beef and hard salmon are inexcusable. We had to repeatedly also ask them what pasta and pizza options they had - they didn't have a clear idea of it themselves. The pasta was alright, nothing to love or rave about. We ordered a pizza but it never arrived and we were too full to ask for it again. The desserts were just some pastries and tiramisu, which were again okay, not great but not bad. Dined with family on July, 7, 2025. Pathetic food to say the least. Paid around 19k INR ($ 230).

By far the worst tenderloin steak I've ever had. Being a steak lover, I've had good and bad steak in 20+ countries. Focaccia, Hyatt Regency in Chennai has taken it to a whole new level. They've set a new benchmark for the worst possible steak one could have. The meat is locally sourced apparently which is okay but it was extremely dry, hard, chewy and overcooked. The Knives that were provided weren't good enough.

Pizzas were very ordinary, the cheese lacked freshness & flavour. Pastas were undercooked. Unappetizing and really bad tasting food. Even the mashed potatoes were dry and tasted bad.

Anyone wanting to dine here, please do yourselves a favour and order bottled mineral water and beer. Those were good as they don't make them in the kitchen.

P.S. - I'm not angry. I'm really not. The food lover in me is not only disappointed but truly offended by the quality of food served. Unacceptable!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday dinner at Focaccia Hyatt Regency Chennai, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm, elegant, and perfect for a special evening. Every dish we ordered was rich in flavor and beautifully presented authentic Italian done right.

A special shoutout to Anit, Chanchal, and Honey for their outstanding service. They were attentive, courteous, and went the extra mile to make the evening feel personal and memorable. It’s rare to find a team so genuinely invested in the guest experience.
