"I visited Krishna Restaurant, located inside the New Woodlands Hotel premises, expecting a delightful South Indian vegetarian experience. While it was a decent meal, there were some hits and misses.

Ambiance: 3.5/5 The restaurant's interior is simple and clean, with a pleasant atmosphere. However, the seating arrangement felt a bit cramped.

Service: 3/5 The staff were friendly and attentive, but the service was slow, especially during peak hours.

Food: 3/5

Breakfast:

Idli: Soft and fluffy, but lacked the signature South Indian flavor. Dosai: Crispy, but the filling was underwhelming.

Lunch:

Thali: Variety of dishes, but some were lukewarm. Sambar and rasam were excellent. Vegetable Biryani: Flavorful, but slightly overpriced.

Dinner:

Pongal: Creamy and delicious. Vegetable Korma: Rich and flavorful.

Highlights:

Excellent filter coffee Reasonable prices

Lowlights:

Inconsistent flavor profiles Limited dessert options

Recommendations:

Try their Pongal and filter coffee. Opt for the Thali for a variety of dishes.

Rating Breakdown:

Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 3/5 Food Quality: 3/5 Value for Money: 4/5

Will I return? Maybe. While Krishna Restaurant offers a decent South Indian vegetarian experience, it lacks the authenticity and consistency I crave.

Tips:

Arrive early for breakfast to avoid crowds. Ask for customized spice levels.

I have been here so many times. This place is warm and cosy and has remained same and unchanged from past 15-20 years. Yes it's a old restaurant and i have been coming here from the time i was toddler.

The best dishes here are Idli Mysore masala dosa South Indian meals Chana bhatura Basundi.

Don't try any other stuff here as they are just average. These are the best and must have items.

Food is not spicy at all and is palatable for most of the people. Someone looking for spicy stay away as food is not all spicy and is on a sweeter side.

Overall ratings:- Taste: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5 Quantity: 4/5 Hygiene: 3/5 Price: 4/5

Overall a good place, but certainly need to improve hygiene as the toilets are dirty and smelly and waiters many times dip their hands in the glasses and serve them us to drink otherwise a nice experience...

We have always had great experience at this establishment. The food is splendid, ambience is right, decent family atmosphere and delicious food. Overall the experience is great and we have been going here for so many years now for the above reasons. This restaurant is a must visit for anyone wanting to enjoy good food. The location is great and the parking is well managed. The facility overall is well managed and there are times when things get crowded especially when there are other parties being held on the premises. The one big thing to consider and improve is around cleanliness in the washroom areas which is not at par with basic cleanliness requirements, at times. I am giving a 4 star rating just to highlight this and I hope this gets relayed across for the right people to take notice...

Woodlands is one of the oldest hotels in Chennai, and consequently Krishna Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in Chennai so you know the food is going to be amazing. I had ordered Pongal Vada with a cup of coffee and it was out of this world. The quantity of pongal might seem small but it's enough to keep filled for a very long time, and it's very, very tasty. The sambar here might even rival the one you get at Ratna Cafe, and the spicy chutney has a consistency that you would only get when adding coconut milk, which by itself shows great tempering and balancing skills. The coffee had a bit too much chikori for me, but I'm pretty sure you can ask them to reduce it. The prices are on the higher side when it comes to South Indian breakfasts in Chennai, but it's worth it.

One of the oldest restaurants. Heard the fake news that the Woodlands is closing and decided to come here one more time. Glad to hear that it is the fake news. As vrindavan was crowded, we had lunch at krishna. This place has authentic south indian food. The best option if you are visiting here is to choose the veg meals. The other options are not that great. Half our family had meals and were very satisfied. The other half chose north Indian food. The wait time for these was very long and the naan and the side dish was not that great. We chose punjabi paneer. A good choice if you are super hungry and are looking for a proper south Indian lunch
