I've been visiting this restaurant for close to a decade. Known for their wide variety of Mediterranean and middle eastern food, this restaurant has almost become a landmark of Anna Nagar. There are very few restaurants which serves authentic and tasty middle eastern and Mediterranean food. This is one amongst them and never fails to amaze us with their quality food, service and good ambience. No wonder why the crowd always swarms to this place.
If you are an avid sea food lover, try their signature dish Samak-al-faham. This is a whole grilled fish served with mayonnaise and salad. It is a delectable dish. Other dishes like grilled chicken, sizzlers, kebabs and Shawarma are available too. Their mutton raan is a dish to die for. Succulent pieces of mutton raan loaded with flavors, is another not to be missed item. Recently, tried their Grilled Pepper chicken, veg sizzler and Chicken Angari Kebab. Half Grilled Pepper Chicken was served with Kuboos and salad along with Mayonnaise and chilli chutney. Grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and chicken pieces were succulent with perfect blend of pepper. Veg Sizzler tasted well with crunchy veggies and paneer, served with flavorful rice. Chicken Angari Kebab was something I have never tasted before and it didn't fail to amaze me with a very different spicy flavour. Shawarma here doesn't taste that great. There are other places that serves great Shawarmas. A meal doesn't end without a great dessert. Under the dessert section, don't miss the royal falooda. It will be served in a tall glass with lavish amount of nuts and fruits. It's a delectable dessert to end your meal.
Ground floor has restaurant serving ala-carte items and buffet at first floor. There is a banquet hall as well for conducting small parties and gatherings. Only drawback is waiting time during weekends and holidays. Wait time gets annoyingly long. But, that is due to the crowd thronging on weekends and holidays. Valet takes care of...
Read moreSavoury Sea Shell in Anna Nagar offered a dining experience that left me with mixed feelings. While there were some noteworthy aspects, a few drawbacks prevented me from giving it a perfect rating.
First and foremost, the Barbeque Chicken was an absolute delight. It was packed with flavor, perfectly grilled, and had a smoky aroma that was irresistible. If you visit this restaurant, the Barbeque Chicken is a must-try dish that won't disappoint.
On the downside, the timing of the courses left much to be desired. Both the starters and the main course were brought to our table simultaneously. This unfortunate timing meant that by the time we finished the starters, the naan (Indian bread) had become disappointingly chewy and difficult to enjoy.
Another issue that detracted from the overall experience was the seating arrangement. The ground floor was fully occupied when we arrived, so we decided to dine on the second floor. Unfortunately, this decision turned out to be less than ideal. The second floor was excessively noisy, dominated by large groups of diners who were engaged in boisterous conversation and laughter. Despite the disruptive ambiance, the service personnel did not take any steps to address the noise level, which was disappointing.
In summary, Savoury Sea Shell in Anna Nagar offers some delicious dishes, with the Barbeque Chicken being a standout option. However, the simultaneous serving of starters and main course, which left the naan in an unsatisfactory state, and the noisy atmosphere on the second floor due to large groups of diners, are areas that could use improvement. Despite these shortcomings, the restaurant has potential, and with a few adjustments, it could provide a more enjoyable...
Read moreI’m a regular at Sea Shell for their shawarmas in the evening, but I decided to try dining in for lunch today. For the meal, I opted for a mix of Indian dishes while my family went for the non-vegetarian options. They ordered a tandoori platter which included chicken, mutton seekh kebabs, and grilled fish, all for around ₹1000. The meats were well-marinated and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of smoky flavor. They also had some naan and a fresh salad to complement the meal.
While the tandoori items were great, we did notice a few issues. The cutlery wasn’t very clean, and we had to ask for replacements for a couple of plates. Some of the veggies in the salad, particularly the cucumbers, didn’t seem as fresh as they should be, which was a bit disappointing. However, the mains were good enough to make up for these minor issues.
The restaurant offers a wide range of cuisines, including Chinese, Italian, and tandoori items, but I would recommend sticking to their Indian and tandoori specialties, as that’s clearly what they do best. Don’t expect authentic Italian or Chinese here, as those dishes seemed more catered to local tastes.
The ambience was comfortable with good air conditioning and a well-lit space that’s ideal for family gatherings. However, the service was quite slow. It was a busy weekend, and we had to wait longer than expected for our food, repeatedly asking the staff for updates.
Overall, it’s a nice place to enjoy their signature tandoori dishes, but they could certainly improve in terms of cleanliness and...
