Huge Embarrassment.... I trusted the reviews of the so called local guides, I decided to hold a family lunch of about 12, to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday.
I arrived 1230 pm today, even before any customer and the restaurant was empty. I made a request for a suitable arrangement to seat 12 family members around 1pm amd they agreed. Most of us arrived by 1310 and ordered food. However some senior citizens over 80 years of age joined a bit late due to traffic jam as it was heavily raining. While they were half way eating some of us who had finished eating were chit chatting as everyone would do in a family get together.
That was when the manager approached us and asked if the plates/leaves can be removed. We agreed to the same in order to facilitate their cleaning activities.
Then came the manager who asked to get up and move to the lounge in the entrance. That was when my uncle and aunty both in seventies and have mobility issues were still eating. We requested the manger to let them also eat and we'll move out together. He said we have to clear the place immediately and he had to separate the tables that were joined to seat our group as other customers were waiting. As the other half of the restaurant was totally empty, we asked him to seat the waiting customers there as we came as a group and we would not like to leave senior couple alone.
He did not listen to us and stated separating the tables even as my uncle and aunty were stll eating on one end of the setup.
The most embarrassing moment came when he yanked the table on which my uncle aunty were still eating to separate it out. My heart stopped and was extremely embarrassed to see the old couple being treated so inhumanely.
I felt so ashamed to have invited them over for the family get together while my Octogenarian dad hung his face in insult and quietly held my hand and moved out slowly.
Thus the most expected day in our lives was throughly spoilt by the manager and staff of the so called popular restaurant who have fattened themselves from the business given by us patrons dare to disrespect even senior citizens just to get more business. Even when this ended the restaurant was still half empty.
Now when I read the reviews by 'local guides' I realize that many have not even visited the place before writing a review.
Please DO NOT patronize this restaurant anymore for their insensitive behavior towards our elders who have lived their lives working to take care of their kids and now expect nothing but some kindness and occasional outings and feel happy seeing their kids and...
Read moreWhen you visit a posh looking hotel in a posh locality for having food, there are lots of expectations from the hotel when it comes to ambiance, service and food quality.
When we decided to have lunch at SMS Hotel we also had such expectations.
It had been a tough week for us and we were in a sort of celebratory mood. So we decided to treat ourselves with a good long lunch at SMS Hotel.
As we were entering the hotel, we were impressed by the looks and the beautiful and peaceful ambiance of the restaurant.
We were greeted by the staff and he guided us to our seats. We took our seats. The menu was placed in front of us. It's was more like an expensive thick brochure. We ordered a few starters and lunch.
We are a couple who love to eat out. We keep on experimenting with our food by visiting a variety of restaurants to have food.
Sitting at SMS restaurant we expected some really sumptuous stuff on our plate. But we were a sort of disappointed. The food was nothing to rave about. The quality was not bad but the taste was average.
The cost was not very high. But for the money, we were paying we expected better quality and taste in our lunch.
One thing that I loved was that food was served on nice banana leaves. Quantity per plate was also good. Two people cannot have in one plate of the dish but for a single person, the quantity of food can be heavy.
The staff was pleasant.
There was a small issue with the egg biryani that we ordered. It spoiled our mood of spending a peaceful time together at the restaurant.
Even though the issue was resolved it left a bad taste in our mouth.
Would I suggest SMS as a place to have food?
Yes, of course! It's a good place to be at with your family, friends and loved ones.
Taste is something that depends on each individual. We did not enjoy the taste of the food. But you may love it. Once again I would like to say that the quality of food is not bad, it's just that it did not cater to our taste.
Visit the restaurant at the proper time so that you get to enjoy the AC or else they might switch off the AC to save on the electricity bill.
Overall it's a peaceful place to have food.
So go ahead and have a pleasant time having your food...
Read moreAfter a long time today I went to this hotel.. Highly disappointed with the restaurant. Even this restaurant is not worth for this 1 star.. First time In a Highly reputed restaurant, the staffs are behaving lethargic and in a arrogant way.. They took half an hour for serving a single item.. That food also quality wise okay only.. The soup is really very very bad.. The staffs are not answering properly and not listening what we are saying.. They are working like they are in a different world.. If the owner didn't focus on the staffs attitude definitely he will lose his customers and will shut down the restaurant permanently one day.. I am damn sure that It will happen one day if he is not concentrating and focusing on only money.. Request to the order taking person and the waiters, please work atleast for the amount the owner paying for you and treat all the customers in a same manner.. Because in your hotel, all the items are very very costly.. Even though the people are coming to your restaurant and having food, so treat them in a proper manner.. I never seen such a idiotic staffs in a fine dining restaurant.. Finally saying don't try this hotel when you are going with your loved one...
