Ganesh Bhavan - Vegetarian Restaurant/ message

We had been to this place on a Saturday evening (or should I say night...) after finishing our darshan of Sri Karpagambal.

At that time only Idly, Pongal, Dosa, Idiyappam, Poori and Vada only were available.

We decided to try the hot Vada along with Idly to start with. They were served with 3 Varieties of Chutney and Sambar / Vada curry. Vada was crispy and tasted good Even Sambar and Kara Chutney was pretty decent.

Then we decided to try Poori (while we were waiting for Dosa). Poori was served with Kurma (they had 2 types) and was ok ok types. Channa Kurma was good.

After that we tried Dosa (Served with sambar and chutney) and was decent.

Good part is they serve Sambar or Chutney or Kurma for any of the items..and unlike some other hotels do t restrict the accompaniments.

On the flip side, the space is too congested and only 5-6 people can eat peacefully. The time we went saw some huge crowd and had to wait long to get our Dosa.

Also, they serve in sets - which is 4 pieces per set.

Costwise ..very economical, i would say. For all's these (4 Idly, 4 Dosa, 4 Poori and 2 Vada) we paid only 200.

For someone whos looking for harmless food and at a reasonable cost, this is worth.Try it out if you are...

About the place.. It's just like vegetarian Fast food/street food center. Very small place...hardly 5 stools will be available to sit.. mostly we have to stand & eat on the street.

About Food.. Really one can enjoy the taste of the food with variety of chutneys... Tasted ..Pongal..Idiyappam...Poori..Podi Dosa... All are excellent. we can taste all variery of chutneys... Coconut ..Groundnut ...podina..kaara ..etc chutneys sambar..vada curry...kurma available....

we visited this place at around 8.45 pm ..so missed some items kichadi...upma...vada...semiya

Can visit with Family also...i saw people coming with families...but have to stand & eat... Take away available...lot od local people taking parcels...

will definitely go to this place...when ever i visit mylapore.

Felt like providing tasty food than the restaurants which costs twice /thrice...

There are plenty of foods in the menu, but not in the plates. It took a very long time to get served.

But the taste, yummy. 5 types of chutneys for idly and Dosa. Chappati with kuruma, Puri with கிழங்குகள், வடை, பொங்கல், கிச்சடி and இடியாப்பம்.

Tastes as home made and will have a feel like home. To the shop owner: please serve foods little bit faster, I know that there were crowds, but you need to improve the management. You are so confusing the customers and chefs. Many people feels this and we don't want to wait for food with empty plates for long time especially coming with girls and kids. No hard feelings, just to improve your business and services.
